Para mim, é sempre um prazer ouvir bandas de black metal da Grécia, pois elas compartilham uma sonoridade característica, mas cada uma segue seu próprio caminho e constrói sua identidade. No caso do Yoth Iria, trata-se de mais uma banda criada por ninguém menos que Jim Mutilator, membro original do Rotting Christ e do Varathron.
Neste terceiro álbum, a banda continua seguindo a tradição do black metal grego, ao mesmo tempo em que desenvolve os elementos que vem explorando desde As the Flame Withers (2021).
O disco começa com “Dare to Rebel”, uma música que incorpora elementos quase teatrais e sinfônicos, alternando vocais limpos e guturais. Pesada, climática e sustentada por belos riffs melódicos, a faixa se destaca pelo andamento cadenciado e por alguns momentos de caráter quase ritualístico.
“Woven Spells of a Demon” mantém a atmosfera da faixa anterior, mas aposta ainda mais nos riffs melódicos tipicamente gregos, que se misturam aos vocais limpos. Os elementos vocais, como coros, sons ambientes e outros instrumentos inseridos pontualmente, criam uma atmosfera muito interessante e envolvente.
“The Blind Eye of Antichrist” inicia com uma voz feminina, preservando o clima obscuro e teatral construído ao longo do álbum. Diferentemente do que ocorre no restante do disco, a música torna-se mais brutal em determinados momentos, retornando depois aos riffs tradicionais e aos solos melódicos. É uma composição muito bem construída e diversificada.
“I, Totem” começa com a bateria marcando o ritmo como tambores ritualísticos. Em seguida, a velocidade aumenta e os riffs melódicos assumem o protagonismo, em uma abordagem bastante próxima da sonoridade do Rotting Christ.
Já “3AM” explora outros caminhos, apresentando uma proposta mais atmosférica, com maior presença de vocais limpos e um refrão bastante marcante.
“Give ‘Em My Beautiful Hell” retoma os coros, os riffs característicos do black metal grego e uma atmosfera tétrica e cadenciada. A faixa funciona muito bem após as experimentações de “3AM”, reafirmando a identidade central do álbum.
“Once in a Blue Moon” também aposta nos coros e nos riffs melódicos, enquanto “Blessed Be He Who Enters” apresenta uma pegada mais voltada ao heavy metal e ao gothic rock, priorizando as melodias e a construção atmosférica.
Em “The End of the Known Civilization”, a banda mantém a abordagem mais sinfônica e teatral, mas recupera momentos de agressividade e velocidade que remetem ao início do disco. Além disso, a faixa apresenta riffs muito bem elaborados, que lhe conferem uma identidade marcante.
Para encerrar o álbum, “Harut, Government, Fallen” volta a incorporar elementos clássicos do black metal grego, combinando alternâncias vocais com a atmosfera orquestral e teatral que permeia todo o trabalho.
No geral, trata-se de um álbum repleto de riffs de extremo bom gosto, pesado e muito bem produzido — embora eu ainda tenha algumas dúvidas em relação à capa. É um trabalho que certamente agradará tanto aos fãs do black metal grego mais tradicional quanto àqueles que apreciam abordagens mais sinfônicas e atmosféricas, como as de Septicflesh.

For me, it is always a pleasure to listen to black metal bands from Greece. While they share a distinctive sound, each one follows its own path and develops its own identity. In the case of Yoth Iria, this is yet another band created by none other than Jim Mutilator, an original member of Rotting Christ and Varathron.
On this third album, the band continues to embrace the Greek black metal tradition while further developing the elements they have been exploring since As the Flame Withers (2021).
The album opens with “Dare to Rebel”, a song that incorporates almost theatrical and symphonic elements while alternating between clean and harsh vocals. Heavy, atmospheric, and driven by beautiful melodic riffs, the track stands out for its measured pacing and several moments that feel almost ritualistic.
“Woven Spells of a Demon” maintains the atmosphere established by the opener but places even greater emphasis on the typically Greek melodic riffing, which blends seamlessly with the clean vocals. Vocal arrangements such as choirs, ambient sounds, and carefully placed instrumental details create a captivating and immersive atmosphere.
“The Blind Eye of Antichrist” begins with a female voice, preserving the dark and theatrical mood that permeates the album. Unlike much of the material found elsewhere on the record, the song becomes considerably more brutal at certain points before returning to traditional riffs and melodic solos. It is a very well-crafted and dynamic composition.
“I, Totem” opens with drums that evoke the sound of ritualistic percussion. Soon after, the pace increases and melodic riffs take center stage, resulting in a track that strongly recalls the style of Rotting Christ.
“3AM” explores different territory, presenting a more atmospheric approach with a stronger presence of clean vocals and a particularly memorable chorus.
“Give ‘Em My Beautiful Hell” brings back the choirs, the trademark riffs of Greek black metal, and a dark, mid-paced atmosphere. The song works exceptionally well following the experimentation of “3AM”, reaffirming the album’s core identity.
“Once in a Blue Moon” also relies on choirs and melodic riffs, while “Blessed Be He Who Enters” adopts a stronger heavy metal and gothic rock influence, focusing more on melody and atmosphere.
On “The End of the Known Civilization”, the band maintains its symphonic and theatrical approach while reintroducing the aggression and speed that characterized the opening part of the album. The track also features exceptionally well-crafted riffs that give it a strong and memorable identity.
To close the record, “Harut, Government, Fallen” once again incorporates classic elements of Greek black metal, combining vocal variations with the orchestral and theatrical atmosphere that runs throughout the album.
Overall, this is an album filled with exquisitely crafted riffs, substantial heaviness, and excellent production—although I am still somewhat uncertain about the album cover artwork. It is a release that will undoubtedly appeal to fans of traditional Greek black metal, while also attracting listeners who enjoy more symphonic and atmospheric approaches, such as those found in the music of Septicflesh.
