Das terras dos grandes The Chasm, Shub Niggurath, Cenotaph (mais ali do início…) e, por que não, do Transmetal, é com muito entusiasmo que paro para ouvir este disco.
A banda passou vários anos sem lançar material novo — e espero sinceramente que não demore tanto para o próximo lançamento. Apesar das mudanças de formação, os caras nos brindaram, ou melhor, nos bombardearam, com um álbum excelente.
Não é segredo o quanto aprecio as bandas e as sonoridades que o metal extremo latino-americano consegue desenvolver. Obviamente, elas absorvem influências dos grandes nomes e estilos do gênero, mas não fazem isso de maneira meramente imitativa. Há sempre formas próprias de compor, criar riffs e construir atmosferas. É exatamente isso que me agrada neste disco.
Os caras começam com uma faixa que não é exatamente uma intro: lenta e cadenciada, serve para criar uma atmosfera mórbida. Porém, a partir daí, o que se segue é um death metal que simplesmente não dá espaço para respirar. Embora em alguns momentos haja mudanças de andamento e variações rítmicas, o que predomina é um som técnico, extremamente atmosférico, repleto de riffs matadores com forte sabor noventista, blast beats incessantes e um baixo encorpado e muito presente na mixagem.
Você ouvirá elementos que remetem ao Morbid Angel da época de Altars of Madness, mas também ao Immolation mais antigo e ao Incantation, especialmente em faixas como “Slaughter of Bestiality” e “Transition to the Tortuous Reign”. Os vocais cavernosos parecem emergir diretamente das profundezas para tornar tudo ainda mais sombrio e devastador.
As composições estão muito acima da média e trazem detalhes que tornam o álbum ainda mais empolgante. “Unburied Hellish Presences”, por exemplo, é uma faixa mais direta e possui momentos que me lembram os saudosos Necros Christos. Já “Dread Midnight Entities” desperta aquela nostalgia dos grandes discos de death metal dos anos 1990, embora rapidamente a banda nos faça voltar a atenção para sua própria identidade, absurdamente pesada e atmosférica.
“Multiform Devourer of Souls” praticamente me deixou com dor no pescoço. Que começo absurdamente foda! E não para por aí: a música inteira é uma verdadeira avalanche sonora. Quem ama death metal não pode deixar essa passar despercebida.
“Old Coffin Miasma” e “The Afterdeath Blackness” apostam em riffs rápidos e doentios. Quando resolvem diminuir um pouco a velocidade, tornam-se ainda mais pesadas, funcionando como preparação para novas explosões de rapidez, blast beats insanos e uma atmosfera sufocante.
Para mim, é exatamente assim que o death metal deve soar.
Apesar da excelente gravação e produção, o álbum mantém uma certa sujeira na sonoridade, algo que considero fundamental para combinar com a proposta musical da banda.
Que bom que o senhor Huertas resolveu trazer a banda de volta das profundezas e presentear os fãs com um disco dessa qualidade!

Coming from the land of great bands such as The Chasm, Shub Niggurath, Cenotaph (from the earlier days…) and, why not, Transmetal, I approached this album with a great deal of enthusiasm.
The band had gone several years without releasing any new material—and I sincerely hope we won’t have to wait that long for the next one. Despite lineup changes, the band has delivered—or rather, bombarded us with—an outstanding album.
It is no secret how much I appreciate the bands and the sounds that Latin American extreme metal is capable of producing. Of course, these bands draw inspiration from the genre’s great names and established styles, but they never do so in a merely imitative way. There is always a unique approach to songwriting, riff construction, and atmosphere. That is exactly what I enjoy about this record.
The album begins with a track that is not exactly an intro: slow and deliberate, it serves to establish a morbid atmosphere. From that point on, however, what follows is a brand of death metal that simply does not allow you a moment to breathe. Although there are occasional tempo shifts and rhythmic variations, the dominant impression is one of technical, highly atmospheric death metal packed with killer old-school riffs, relentless blast beats, and a thick, prominent bass presence.
Listeners will hear elements that recall the Morbid Angel of Altars of Madness, but also the early days of Immolation and Incantation, particularly in tracks such as “Slaughter of Bestiality” and “Transition to the Tortuous Reign”. The cavernous vocals seem to emerge directly from the depths, making everything sound even darker and more devastating.
The songwriting is far above average and packed with details that make the album even more exciting. “Unburied Hellish Presences”, for example, is a more direct assault and features moments that remind me of the late, great Necros Christos. Meanwhile, “Dread Midnight Entities” evokes memories of the finest death metal albums of the 1990s, though the band quickly redirects the listener’s attention to its own identity—an identity that is crushingly heavy and intensely atmospheric.
“Multiform Devourer of Souls” practically left my neck sore. What an unbelievably crushing opening! And it does not stop there—the entire song is a relentless barrage of death metal destruction. Anyone who loves death metal should not let this one pass by unnoticed.
“Old Coffin Miasma” and “The Afterdeath Blackness” are driven by fast, diseased riffs. Whenever the band decides to ease off the speed, the music somehow becomes even heavier, serving as a launching pad for more bursts of velocity, insane blast beats, and suffocating atmosphere.
To me, this is exactly how death metal should sound.
Despite its excellent recording and production quality, the album retains a certain rawness that perfectly complements the band’s musical approach.
I am truly glad that Mr. Huertas decided to bring the band back from the depths and gift us an album of this caliber.
