Seraph Zine- Edição #10 – Abril de 2026
Como disse o Luciano, no editorial: O processo de criação de um fanzine é um campo de batalha: esperas intermináveis, desistências e ideias abortadas fazem parte do caos. Mas o sentimento que sobra é o de satisfação e um orgulho visceral por manter está arte viva.
Esse artefato ganhou vida nos anos 90 e o Luciano Freire lançou algumas edições, e depois de um tempo com o fanzine. No início dos anos 2020 ele ressuscitou o Seraph Zine e desde então tem lançado ótimos trabalhos!
Essa décima edição com certeza é o ápice desse retorno. Visualmente é um deleite! Parabéns ao Hioderman Zartan que fez um trabalho magnífico na diagramação. O editor contou com uma rede de colaboradores que acrescentaram muita qualidade para esta edição. Entrevistas muito bem elaboradas e contando com pessoas que realmente vivem e respiram o underground.
Entrevistas com bandas conceituadas a nível mundial como Blood Red Throne (Noruega), Draconian (Suécia), Officium Triste (Holanda) Sadistik Exekution (Austrália) e representando o metal brasileiro o manauara …Do Fundo…Abismo, Enxöfre (RJ), Pesta (MG) e Akuã (SP). Uma entrevista com a banda paulista que eu gosto muito, o grande The Black Spade.
Mais uma vez o papel sempre importante dos fanzines: Dar voz e apresentar bandas que estão emergindo no Submundo e poucas conhecidas no Submundo. No meu caso eu não conhecia a banda de death doom metal Shrouded in Darkness e a banda de black metal atmospheric Windspirit.
A decepção foi com uma lenda do epic doom metal, o cantor americano Robert Low e seu Disciple Of Doom. Com passagens por Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass entre outras. A entrevista foi muito bem conduzida, mas achei o senhor Low muito econômico em suas palavras e poderia ter se aprofundado mais nas suas respostas.
Voltando para a qualidade visual e estética do fanzine é algo muito bem feito e elaborado. A capa é algo relacionado com a mitologia de Leviatã. Os contrastes de cores foram muito bem escolhidos e ficaram divinamente belos!
Essa arte combina perfeitamente com o editorial do fanzine voltado mais ao doom metal, mas abrangendo o metal extremo também! Em várias mitologias e simbologias Leviatã simboliza o caos primordial e as forças da natureza que o ser humano não consegue controlar.
Vale também ressaltar que foram inseridas frases de grandes pensadores e com imagens bem melancólicas espalhadas pelo fanzine que nos traz a reflexão e o pensar. Agregou muito!
Além das tradicionais resenhas de CDs e fanzines, encontra-se uma bela resenha do show que rolou em São Paulo, dia 25/10/2025, na casa La Iglesia com as bandas: Miasthenia (DF), Velho (RJ), Grave Desecrator (RJ) e Podridão (SP).

O Brasil vive um período muito brutal com muitos assassinatos e violência contra mulher! Este artigo é um alerta para nós homens que frequentamos o underground “nos policiar” e apoiar e respeitar as mulheres seja em cima do palco como artistas ou na platéia como público! Elas são peças importantes do underground! Continuando com as palavras do Luciano, no editorial: Quando o preconceito se manifesta em um meio que idealizamos como uma “casa de mentes libertas” o que deveria ser liberdade torna-se clausura. Comportamentos antes mascarados como culturais precisam ser revistos; a cultura evolui, valores se agregam.
Parabéns pelo ótimo trabalho de todos envolvidos! Esse Zine é um artigo de colecionador! Zine é resistência! “O metal é evolução, expansão e conhecimento, ou não é nada”.

Seraph Zine – Issue #10 – April 2026
As Luciano said in the editorial, creating a fanzine is a battlefield: endless waiting, people giving up, and aborted ideas are all part of the chaos. But what remains is a feeling of satisfaction and a visceral sense of pride in keeping this art form alive.
This artifact came to life in the 1990s, when Luciano Freire released a few issues before eventually putting the fanzine on hold. Then, in the early 2020s, he resurrected Seraph Zine, and since then he has been releasing some truly great work!
This tenth issue is certainly the pinnacle of this comeback. Visually, it is an absolute delight! Congratulations to Hioderman Zartan, who did a magnificent job with the layout and design. The editor also brought together a network of contributors who added tremendous quality to this issue. The interviews are very well crafted and feature people who truly live and breathe the underground.
There are interviews with internationally renowned bands such as Blood Red Throne (Norway), Draconian (Sweden), Officium Triste (the Netherlands), Sadistik Exekution (Australia), as well as Brazilian metal acts such as Manaus-based …Do Fundo…Abismo, Enxöfre (Rio de Janeiro), Pesta (Minas Gerais), and Akuã (São Paulo). There is also an interview with the São Paulo-based band I really enjoy, the great The Black Spade.
Once again, the always-important role of fanzines is evident: giving a voice to and introducing bands that are emerging from the underground, as well as those that remain relatively unknown within the scene. In my case, I was unfamiliar with the death-doom metal band Shrouded in Darkness and the atmospheric black metal band Windspirit.
The disappointment came with a legend of epic doom metal, American singer Robert Lowe and his band Disciple Of Doom, following his stints with Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass, and others. The interview was very well conducted, but I found Mr. Lowe rather economical with his words. He could have gone into much greater depth in his answers.
Going back to the visual quality and aesthetics of the fanzine, everything is extremely well executed and thoughtfully designed. The cover features imagery related to the mythology of Leviathan. The color contrasts were very well chosen and turned out absolutely beautiful!
This artwork fits perfectly with the fanzine’s editorial direction, which leans more toward doom metal while also embracing extreme metal! In various mythologies and symbolic traditions, Leviathan represents primordial chaos and the forces of nature that human beings are unable to control.
It is also worth highlighting the inclusion of quotes from great thinkers, accompanied by deeply melancholic images scattered throughout the fanzine, inviting us to reflect and think. This added a great deal to the publication!
In addition to the traditional CD and fanzine reviews, there is a great review of the show that took place in São Paulo on October 25, 2025, at La Iglesia, featuring Miasthenia (Federal District), Velho (Rio de Janeiro), Grave Desecrator (Rio de Janeiro), and Podridão (São Paulo).
There is also an article written by Juliana R. Pereira, from the Curitiba Metal blog, entitled “Gender and Symbolic Violence in the Underground Scene.”
Brazil is going through an extremely brutal period, with many murders and acts of violence against women! This article serves as a warning to us men who are part of the underground: we need to “keep ourselves in check” and support and respect women, whether they are on stage as artists or in the audience as fans! They are an important part of the underground!
Continuing with Luciano’s words from the editorial: When prejudice manifests itself in a scene we idealize as a “home for liberated minds,” what should be freedom becomes confinement. Behaviors once disguised as cultural practices need to be reconsidered; culture evolves, and values become part of that evolution.
Congratulations to everyone involved on such a great piece of work! This Zine is a collector’s item! Zine is resistance!
