RESILIENT – The Art of Resilience (EP 2023)

O selo curitibano, comandado pelo Eric, vêm investindo em bons lançamentos de bandas obscuras do underground mundial e o cara nos apresenta mais uma grata surpresa dos esgotos chilenos. Apesar de já existir uma banda chilena com esse mesmo nome, porém é de Power Metal e essa que vamos falar um pouco mais aqui, investe em um Death Metal com fortes inspirações em Chuck Schuldiner e o eterno Death.

O RESILIENT foi parido em 2021 em Santiago, capital do Chile e na sua formação tem: Abel Mendez, guitarra, baixo, vocal e bateria e também Matias Quiroz na segunda guitarra.

O play abre com uma “INTRO(Origin)” um dedilhado no violão e que dá um clima calma e tranquilo, de muito bom gosto! E já nos dá uma amostra do que virá na próxima faixa.

“The  Dark Room”, a segunda faixa, já inicia com riffs e  bases poderosas e uma bateria bem pesada e trabalhada. Com vocais na linha do mestre SCHULDINER. Quando menos esperamos  já estamos batendo cabeça e levantando os dedos para cima. Como diz: Sérgio Ballof: chifres para cima!

“Vomiting Blood” já começa matadora! Com uma pegada violenta bem Thrash Metal 80 e me fez lembrar o velho Slayerrrrr porraaa! Com riffs poderosos, bateria comendo solto e um baixão poderoso dando todo o peso e sustentação para a porradaria comer solto. Isso aqui é foda! Com um solo magnífico e trabalhado. Brutalidade e belas passagens melódicas, aliando partes rápidas, cadenciadas e trabalhadas.

A quarta faixa é aquela que foi o primeiro lançamento dessa dupla infernal que foi lançado como single em 2021 “Black Clouds” é outra desgraça pura!  Death Metal clássico! Com riffs intrigados, mudanças de andamento e bases fodidas e com um solo matador. Tudo isso muito rápido e agressivo. Os vocais bem rasgados e agudos, claramente influenciados por Chuck. Aliás, esse estilo de vocal é óbvio casa muito bem com a proposta musical da banda.

E fechando com um “Interlude”(Clímax)” que deixou uma sensação de quero mais do Resilient e que venha logo o full length porque o que foi apresentado aqui é ótimo, mas muito pouco para nós que apreciamos o bom e velho Death Metal. 

Hora deles pagarem um tributo aos lendários veteranos dos subterrâneos chilenos e mandam a cover para “Malefice” do Pentagram, música lançada na “Demo#2” no longínquo ano de 1987. E o Resilient deixou a música com a mesma pegada dos veteranos e mantendo todo o espírito sujo, imundo, agressivo e demoníaco desse clássico do submundo sul-americano. Um perfeito tributo! E ainda vem duas versões ensaio e bem toscas “The Dark Room” e “Vomiting Blood” que achei desnecessário estar inserido como bônus.

Resumo da história, esse EP é muito bom e vale a pena dar uma chance para esses chilenos. A produção está muito boa. Produzido por Omar Nales, no Miscelaneo Records. Mixado e masterizado por Ricardo Herrera no estúdio, Los Aliaga, em Santiago, Chile. Arte & layout simples, porém com todas as informações básicas, fotos e letras, feito por Glésio Torres. Vomitando sangue em nome do metal da morte!

The Curitiba label run by Eric has been investing in good releases from obscure bands from the global underground and the guy presents us with another pleasant surprise from the Chilean sewers. Although there is already a Chilean band with the same name, it is Power Metal and the one we are going to talk about a little more here, invests in Death Metal with strong inspirations from Chuck Schuldiner and the eternal Death.

Resilient was born in 2021 in Santiago, capital of Chile and its lineup includes: Abel Mendez, guitar, bass, vocals and drums and Matias Quiroz on second guitar.

This EP starts with an “Intro” (Origin)”, a very tasteful strumming on the guitar and creates an atmosphere of what is to come in the next track.

“The Dark Room”, the second track, starts with powerful riffs and bases and a very heavy and worked drums. With vocals in the line of master SCHULDINER. When we least expect it, we’re already headbanging and raising our fingers in the air. As he says: Sérgio Ballof: horns up!

“Vomiting Blood” is off to a killer start! With a violent feel very Thrash Metal 80 and reminded me of the old Slayerrrrr! With powerful riffs, drums eating freely and a powerful bass giving all the weight and support for the beating to eat freely. This is awesome! With a magnificent and worked soil. Brutality and beautiful melodic passages, combining fast, rhythmic and worked parts.

The fourth track is the first release from this infernal duo which was released as a single in 2021 “Black Clouds” is another pure disgrace! Classic Death Metal! With intriguing riffs, tempo changes and fucked up bases and a killer solo. All this very fast and aggressive. The vocals are very torn and high-pitched, clearly influenced by Chuck. In fact, this vocal style obviously fits very well with the band’s musical proposal.

And closing with an “Interlude” (Climax)” that left a feeling of wanting more of Resilient and for Full Length to come soon because what was presented here is great, but very little for us who appreciate good old Death Metal.

Time for them to pay tribute to the legendary veterans of the Chilean underground and send a cover of “Malefice” by Pentagram, a song released on “Demo#2” in the distant year of 1987. And Resilient left the song with the same feel as the veterans and keeping all the dirty, filthy, aggressive and demonic spirit of this classic from the South American underworld. A perfect tribute! And there are two very rough rehearsal versions “The Dark Room” and “Vomiting Blood” which I found unnecessary and are included as a bonus.

Summary of the story, this EP is very good and it’s worth giving these Chileans a chance. The production is very good. Produced by Omar Nales, on Miscelaneo Records. Mixed and mastered by Ricardo Herrera at the studio, Los Aliaga, in Santiago, Chile. Simple art & layout, but with all the basic information, photos and letters, made by Glésio Torres. Vomiting blood in the name of death metal!
