ESCARNIUM – Inexorable Entropy (Adv. CD 2025)

Finalmente os brazucas do ESCARNIUM chegaram ao seu quarto álbum oficial e “Inexorable Entropy” se mostra como o seu trabalho mais maduro, sólido e arrisco dizer mais brutal até agora.

Uma coisa é fato, nenhuma banda passa incólume por uma temporada já significativa de tempo vivendo em solo europeu, vivenciando aquela cena, tocando com frequência, dividindo o palco com grandes bandas e músicos. Tudo isso lapida o trabalho de qualquer músico que leve o seu trabalho a sério. A evolução do ESCARNIUM nesse sentido é absurda.

Acredito que a maturidade que a banda alcançou nesse novo trabalho será a sua marca daqui por diante. Falando propriamente das músicas, tudo se tornou ainda mais brutal e visceral. A energia das composições é impactante. Os riffs ditam cada segundo desse álbum e mostram a qualidade altíssima de seus executores. Nestor Carrera é um dos nossos grandes baterista e disso não há discussão. Ele é extremamente rápido, preciso e diversificado. Juntando o talento natural para criar death metal que esses caras já tinham, toda essa vivência só melhorou ainda mais o som da banda.

Depois da introdução de “Fentanyl”, tudo vem abaixo com a brutal “Relentless Katabasis”. É o tipo de música que ao se ouvir, você sabe que o que vem a seguir é o que se espera do verdadeiro brutal death metal. A música não é só velocidade da luz. Ela traz momentos mais quebrados, cheios de feeling e groove. Alguns solos me trouxeram à mente os mestre do Immolation.

“Cancerous Abyss” começa como um tsunami, com blast beats destruindo tudo pela frente, mas em seguida a composição abre espaço para algo que se molda em torno de um grande peso e obscuridade. E isso acontece até mesmo quando o bpm vai à loucura. É uma pena que na recente passagem pelo Brasil a banda não tenha vindo à Brasília. Seria uma experiência no mínimo interessante ouvir algumas dessas novas composições ao vivo. “Inexorable Entropy” finge que irá pisar no freio, mas logo qualquer esperança nesse sentido se esvai. The hell breaks loose!

Nessa composição, assim como no restante do álbum, os vocais do guitarrista e vocalista Victor estão simplesmente perfeitos. Gutural as hell e cheio de ódio e caos sendo vomitados de suas entranhas. Entre todas as músicas desse álbum, “The Heritage” é a que mais me atingiu com violência. Carregada com pura maldade, ela tem todos os elementos de uma grande faixa de death metal. As guitarras soam mais intrincadas enquanto a bateria vai massacrando seus tímpanos.

“Revulsion of Carbon” continua se aventurando em mares de complexidade e acho que esse seja um dos elementos em que o ESCARNIUM mais surpreendeu nesse novo trabalho. Tudo soa mais perigoso e nem um pouco simplório. Não que antes fosse, mas essa interpretação mais técnica me agradou ainda mais em relação ao que a banda já tinha feito antes. É a sua evolução mais perceptível.

Mais pesada e com um groove assassino “Through the Depths of the 12th Gate” é um outro ponto alto do álbum. Materializa um outro lado dos caras e nos seus quase 4 minutos e quarenta transcende a brutalidade comum. Os solos aqui são realmente muito bons e o clima de horror musical sobra em cada nota. “Ashen Path” é como uma pequena trilha sonora de filmes antigos e prepara o ouvinte para a faixa que fecha o álbum “Pyroscene´s Might”, que encerra com uma régua traçada no alto com uma sequência de riffs e bases de guitarra que estão estão entre as melhores do álbum.

O ESCARNIUM mostrou sua música com uma qualidade impressionante. A produção do álbum é realmente boa, com tudo soando muito pesado e definido. A capa do álbum é um retrato apropriado da própria música que ela representa. A vontade de ver a banda no palco é um efeito colateral imediato após a audição de “Inexorable Entropy” e é realmente foda ouvir uma banda brasileira alcançando esse nível de qualidade. Quem venham muitos outros álbuns. Hail Escarnium !

ESCARNIUM is finally going to release their fourth official album and “Inexorable Entropy” is their most mature, solid and, dare I say it, brutal work to date.

One thing is for sure, no band goes unscathed through a significant period of time living on European soil, experiencing that scene, playing frequently, sharing the stage with great bands and musicians. All this polishes the work of any musician who takes their job seriously. ESCARNIUM‘s evolution in this sense is absurd.

I believe that the maturity the band has achieved in this new work will be its hallmark from now on. Speaking of the songs themselves, everything has become even more brutal and visceral. The energy of the compositions is striking. The riffs dictate every second of this album and show the very high quality of the players. Nestor Carrera is one of our great drummers and there’s no arguing about that. He is extremely fast, precise and diverse. Combined with the natural talent for creating death metal that these guys already had, all this experience has only improved the band’s sound even more.

After the intro of “Fentanyl”, everything comes crashing down with the brutal “Relentless Katabasis”. It’s the kind of song that when you hear it, you know that what’s coming next is what you expect from true brutal death metal. The music isn’t all lightning speed. It has more broken moments, full of feeling and groove. Some of the solos brought to mind the masters of Immolation.

“Cancerous Abyss” begins like a tsunami, with blast beats destroying everything in front of them, but then the composition opens up space for something that is shaped around great heaviness and darkness. And this happens even when the bpm goes crazy. It’s a shame the band didn’t come to Brasília during their recent tour of Brazil. It would have been an interesting experience, to say the least, to hear some of these new compositions live. “Inexorable Entropy” pretends to put the brakes on, but any hope of doing so is soon dashed. The hell breaks loose!

In this composition, as in the rest of the album, guitarist and vocalist Victor’s vocals are simply perfect. Guttural as hell and full of hatred and chaos spewing out of his guts. Of all the songs on this album, “The Heritage” is the one that hit me hardest. Loaded with pure evil, it has all the elements of a great death metal track. The guitars sound more intricate while the drums pummel your eardrums.

“Revulsion of Carbon” continues to venture into seas of complexity and I think this is one of the elements in which ESCARNIUM have surprised the most in this new work. Everything sounds more dangerous and not at all simple. Not that it was before, but this more technical interpretation pleased me even more than what the band had done before. It’s their most noticeable evolution.

Heavier and with a killer groove, “Through the Depths of the 12th Gate” is another highlight of the album. It materializes another side of the guys and in its almost 4 minutes and 40 transcends the usual brutality. The solos here are really good and the atmosphere of musical horror is evident in every note. “Ashen Path” is like a little soundtrack to old movies and prepares the listener for the closing track ‘Pyroscene’s Might’, which ends with a ruler drawn high with a sequence of riffs and guitar bases that are among the best on the album.

ESCARNIUM showcased their music with impressive quality. The album’s production is really good, with everything sounding very heavy and defined. The album cover is a fitting portrait of the very music it represents. The desire to see the band on stage is an immediate side effect after listening to “Inexorable Entropy” and it’s really cool to hear a Brazilian band reaching this level of quality. May there be many more albums to come. Hail Escarnium !
