A gravadora Kill Again Records foi rápida no gatilho e trouxe para o mercado brasileiro o novo álbum dos alemães do DESASTER. “Kill All Idols” é o décimo álbum de estúdio desses veteranos que formaram a banda em 1988.
A banda ficou muito conhecida no Brasil depois dos álbuns “Hellsfire´s Dominion” e “Tyrants of the Netherworld”, considerados por muitos (inclusive eu mesmo) os melhores álbuns do DESASTER. O nível desses álbuns é tão alto que acabou criando um problema para o próprio grupo. Como lançar álbuns que tivessem essa qualidade musical.
Não sei se para os músicos do grupo essa questão se tornou um problema realmente, mas para nós, os fãs, foi um questionamento bastante presente. Ainda que a banda nunca tenha realmente lançado um álbum ruim ou se afastado de suas próprias convicções musicais, houve momentos em que o som do Desaster perdeu seu impacto.
É muito bom ouvir um trabalho como “Kill All Idols” e ser capaz de identificar toda a força e energia que a banda sempre carregou em sua veia. Ainda que não estejamos diante de um clássico absoluto, esse novo álbum transborda uma honestidade musical que encanta o ouvinte. Acredito que isso venha do equilíbrio construído em todas as faixas que fazem parte desse trabalho. É possível ouvir uma mistura perfeita entre o Desaster mais black metal do primeiro álbum e aquele black/thrash insano dos dois álbuns seguintes e ainda assim mostrar que a banda seguiu em frente todos esses anos, mesmo com mudanças de formação.
O DESASTER é uma banda pela qual eu nutro um enorme respeito. Integridade sempre definiu o som desses caras e o seu respeito pela música extrema, a sua conexão única com os fãs mundo afora e sua energia, principalmente no palco, faz com que não exista aqui nenhum sentimento negativo em relação ao que estou ouvindo. Ainda que tenha ouvido muito menos o som do DESASTER nos últimos anos em relação ao que ouvi nos anos 90 e anos 2000, a percepção que tive em relação ao novo álbum foi a melhor possível.
É um sólido álbum de black/thrash metal (com mais ênfase no black metal) e que não se afasta das características do som do DESASTER. É o segundo álbum em que o baterista Hont (que entrou no lugar do grande brother Tormentor) participa e sua participação é matadora. Os vocais de Satanic continua tão imundos como sempre foram e a dupla Infernal e Odin, guitarrista e baixista, respectivamente, trabalham sem descanso para entregar uma música agressiva.
As músicas que poderia destacar são: “Great Repulsive Force” (muito rápida e imediatamente reconhecível como uma composição do Desaster), “Towards Oblivion” (um black thrash insano e incendiário), “Kill the Idol” (minha favorita e um chute no traseiro em forma de música) e “Ash Cloud Ritual” (música mais suja e que tem um feeling death metal presente).
É muito bom ver que esses demônios continuam na ativa e criando música com essa intensidade. Espero que voltem em breve ao Brasil e toquem em mais cidades… Bang or be Banged motherfuckers !

Kill Again Records was quick off the mark and brought the new album by German band DESASTER to the Brazilian market. “Kill All Idols” is the tenth studio album by these veterans who formed the band in 1988.
The band became very well known in Brazil after the albums “Hellsfire’s Dominion” and “Tyrants of the Netherworld”, considered by many (including myself) to be DESASTER‘s best albums. The level of these albums is so high that it ended up creating a problem for the group itself. How to release albums that had this musical quality.
I don’t know if this question really became a problem for the musicians in the group, but for us fans, it was a very present question. Although the band never really released a bad album or strayed from their own musical convictions, there were moments when Desaster’s sound lost its impact.
It’s great to listen to an album like “Kill All Idols” and be able to identify all the strength and energy that the band has always carried in its veins. Although we are not dealing with an absolute classic, this new album overflows with a musical honesty that enchants the listener. I believe this comes from the balance built into all the tracks that are part of this work. It is possible to hear a perfect mix between the more black metal Desaster of the first album and the insane black/thrash of the following two albums, while still showing that the band has moved forward all these years, even with lineup changes.
DESASTER is a band for which I have enormous respect. Integrity has always defined these guys’ sound, and their respect for extreme music, their unique connection with fans around the world, and their energy, especially on stage, means that I have no negative feelings about what I’m hearing here. Although I have listened to DESASTER much less in recent years than I did in the 90s and 2000s, my perception of the new album was the best possible.
It is a solid black/thrash metal album (with more emphasis on black metal) that does not stray from the characteristics of DESASTER‘s sound. It is the second album in which drummer Hont (who replaced his big brother Tormentor) participates, and his contribution is killer. Satanic’s vocals are as filthy as ever, and the duo Infernal and Odin, guitarist and bassist, respectively, work tirelessly to deliver aggressive music.
The songs that stand out are: “Great Repulsive Force” (very fast and immediately recognizable as a Desaster composition), “Towards Oblivion” (an insane and incendiary black thrash song), “Kill the Idol” (my favorite and a kick in the ass in the form of music) and “Ash Cloud Ritual” (a dirtier song with a death metal feel).
It’s great to see that these demons are still active and creating music with such intensity. I hope they come back to Brazil soon and play in more cities… Bang or be Banged motherfuckers!
