Mais uma vez temos em nossas mãos um trabalho impecável do guerreiro e batalhador André Chaves. Aqui temos uma edição matadora!

André além de editar anualmente a edição física do Sepulchral Voice Zine, ele mantém o site com a mesma nomenclatura Sepulchral Voice Zine ativo e ainda edita outro fanzine, o Escrituras do Submundo. Artefato para divulgar e entrevistar zineiros. Sou um grande admirador do trabalho dele. Aliás, temos vários fanzineiros no Brasil que fazem um trabalho muito bom e mantêm a resistência!

Nesta décima segunda edição o editor contou com vários asseclas amantes da escrita subversiva. Um time de respeito, admiradores dos fanzines e conhecedores do underground.

Essa capa é uma obra prima! Criada pelo artista Marcelo Almeida (@Thedarkside.art) e logo pelo lendário Christophe Szpajdel. 184 páginas com 15 bandas entrevistadas entre elas: Cadaveric Remains, …From The Abyss, Rotborn, Sepulchral Whore, Hécate, Cadaveric Mutilation, Rot e Strangulation. Entrevistas muito bem detalhadas. Também tem bandas sul-americanas e entrevistas com os lunáticos peruanos da Maze Of Terror e outra com os argentinos da Atuades, levantando a bandeira do death metal argentino.

Com certeza os deathmetallers admiradores do old school death metal ficaram muito felizes com a entrevista muito bem feita e conduzida por Sérgio Wildhagen com a lenda Marc Grewe, vocalista que gravou os clássicos: Resurrection Absurd (1989), The Eternal Fall (1990) e Cursed (1991) da lendária Morgoth. Marc, falou sobre sua vida, seus projetos atuais com as bandas: Leper Colony, Insidious Disease, Asinhell e Deimo’s Dawn.

E ainda rolou entrevistas com bandas clássicas do submundo como Pentacle, Mortem e Sadistic Intent. Essas três entrevistas é um verdadeiro banquete para maníacos que cultuam a velha essência do death metal e preservam as raízes do underground.

A entrevista com a holandesa Pentacle, conduzida por André Chaves e Sérgio Baloff, foi uma viagem aos confins do submundo do final dos anos 1980 e início dos anos 1990. Rica em detalhes só quem vive os bueiros e vive o submundo sabe do que estamos falando! Entrevista respondida pelo lendário Wannes Gubbels(vocal/baixo) é uma pessoa que conhece a cena mundial e tem muito respeito pela cena brasileira.

Outra entrevista espetacular e deu um apanhado geral na história da banda foi com a peruana Mortem. Desde 1986, carrega a bandeira do death metal sul-americano com devoção às suas raízes em um bate-papo bem legal entre amigos.

André e Sérgio Baloff Borges também trocaram uma ideia com o guitarrista Rick Cortez, que resume um pouco da história de um dos nomes lendários do metal da morte mundial e falaram da trajetória do Sadistic Intent e também sobre a passagem deles pelo Possessed e suas bandas preferidas da cena brasileira. Ótima entrevista!

O underground não vive só de bandas, teve uma entrevista com Anderson, o nome por trás do selo baiano Abismo Metal Store, além das tradicionais resenhas de CDs e Livros. Senti falta de resenhas de fanzines e shows.

 As tradicionais seções que eu gosto muito:Buried, But Not Forgotten, com os paulista da Strangulation, Immolation e o clássico Dawn Of Possession (1991) e fechando com a obra prima do funeral doom Stream From The Heavens(1994) do Finlandês Thergothon.

Fazer e ler fanzine é resistir! Não se esqueça que enfrentar os algoritmos passa pelo simples e revolucionário ato de abrir um livro, um fanzine, colocar um CD ou vinil para rodar no seus aparelhos. Portanto, leiam fanzines, livros e apoiam as bandas comprando material. Uma pequena forma de vencer o sistema!

Once again, we have in our hands an impeccable piece of work from the tireless warrior André Chaves. This is a killer issue! In addition to publishing the annual print edition of *Sepulchral Voice Zine*, André maintains an active website under the same name and edits another fanzine, *Escrituras do Submundo*—a vehicle for promoting and interviewing fellow zine creators. I am a huge admirer of his work. In fact, there are many fanzine creators in Brazil doing excellent work and keeping the underground spirit alive! For this twelfth issue, the editor enlisted a number of cohorts who love subversive writing. It is a formidable team—true fanzine enthusiasts and underground connoisseurs.

This cover is a masterpiece! Created by artist Marcelo Almeida (@Thedarkside.art), with a logo by the legendary Christophe Szpajdel. It spans 184 pages and features interviews with 15 bands, including Cadaveric Remains, …From The Abyss, Rotborn, Sepulchral Whore, Hécate, Cadaveric Mutilation, Rot, and Strangulation. The interviews are incredibly detailed. It also covers South American acts, featuring the Peruvian maniacs from Maze Of Terror and the Argentinians from Atuades, who are flying the flag for Argentine death metal. Old-school death metal fans will certainly be thrilled with the expertly conducted interview by Sérgio Wildhagen featuring the legendary Marc Grewe—the vocalist who recorded the classics *Resurrection Absurd* (1989), *The Eternal Fall* (1990), and *Cursed* (1991) with the legendary band Morgoth. Marc discusses his life and his current projects with bands such as Leper Colony, Insidious Disease, Asinhell, and Deimo’s Dawn.

There are also interviews with underground classics like Pentacle, Mortem, and Sadistic Intent. These three interviews are a true feast for the maniacs who worship the old-school death metal ethos and keep the underground roots alive. The interview with the Dutch band Pentacle, conducted by André Chaves and Sérgio Baloff, is a journey into the depths of the underground scene from the late 80s and early 90s. Rich in detail—only those who live and breathe the underground truly understand what we’re talking about! The interview features the legendary Wannes Gubbels (vocals/bass), a man who knows the global scene inside out and holds the Brazilian scene in high regard.

Another spectacular interview—which provided a great overview of the band’s history—was with the Peruvian group Mortem. Since 1986, they have carried the flag of South American death metal with devotion to their roots; the conversation felt like a really cool chat between friends. André and Sérgio Baloff Borges also caught up with guitarist Rick Cortez. He summarized the history of one of the legendary names in global death metal and discussed Sadistic Intent’s journey, his stint with Possessed, and his favorite bands from the Brazilian scene. A great interview! The underground isn’t just about bands; there was also an interview with Anderson, the man behind the Bahia-based label Abismo Metal Store, alongside the usual CD and book reviews. I did miss seeing reviews of fanzines and concerts, though.

Then there are the regular sections I really enjoy: “Buried, But Not Forgotten,” featuring São Paulo’s Strangulation; Immolation and their classic *Dawn of Possession* (1991); and a wrap-up with the funeral doom masterpiece *Stream from the Heavens* (1994) by Finland’s Thergothon. Creating and reading fanzines is an act of resistance! Don’t forget that defying algorithms can be as simple—and revolutionary—as opening a book or a fanzine, or spinning a CD or vinyl record on your player. So, read fanzines and books, and support bands by buying their material. It’s a small way to beat the system!
