RUIN LUST – Dissimulant (Adv. 2023)

Após o lançamento do seu terceiro álbum de estúdio “Choir of Babel”, em 2020, esses demônios acabaram não tendo a oportunidade de fazer uma divulgação eficiente por conta da pandemia, mas 2023 chega e a banda, após fermentar o seu ódio criativo, vem com um novo e selvagem álbum oficial.

“Dissimulant” é uma mistura caótica de death metal, war metal e black metal (como o próprio press release faz questão de enfatizar) e as oito faixas que compõem o material mostram esse caldo de pura violência em estado bruto.

A faixa de abertura é movida a puro ódio, com momentos que me lembram a rispidez do black/death metal oriundo da Ross Bay Area. É necessário salientar que a produção do álbum não segue aquela crueza feita no limite, mas ainda assim mostra sua cara de forma bastante crua e suja.

“Imperium” tem excelentes riffs e uma bateria bate estaca que vai martelando sua percepção enquanto os vocais gritam a plenos pulmões. Brutalidade em essência. Há alguns momentos mais climáticos em meio ao caos durante a execução da poderosa “Clinamen”, terceira faixa do álbum. Essa música possui alguns riffs e bases de guitarra realmente poderosos.

A marcha impiedosa continua com “Thrall”, que também mescla partes rápidas com outras mais “atmosféricas”, se podemos chamar dessa forma. Como em todo o álbum, o vocal dita o caminho a ser seguido em direção à total destruição. Mais primitiva é a faixa título “Dissimulant”, quase marcial.

A próxima é “Purge”, que tem uma pegada mais war black metal, com riffs rápidos e vocais sujos e vomitados. A energia é incessante durante boa parte da composição, mas há espaço para que tudo se torne mais denso e melancólico também, ainda que soe como um ritual de sacrifício. É uma música que se destaca por essas escolhas de andamento.

“Infinite Regress” é a penúltima música e uma das que mais gostei. O death metal aqui aparece mais claramente e em alguns momentos lembra o Angel Corpse e em outros foge totalmente disso, mas vai crescendo e impondo respeito. O álbum se encerra com a apocalíptica “Chemical Wind”, brutal até o ossos e a melhor faixa do álbum para mim. Gosto como todos os fracos são atropelados pela violência dessa composição. A carnificina está garantida.

Não posso deixar de destacar também a capa do álbum que definitivamente mostra graficamente o que é a música desse novo trabalho do RUIN LUST. Uma agradável audição para os belos dias de primavera enquanto você explode tudo ao seu redor.

After the release of their third studio album “Choir of Babel” in 2020, these demons didn’t have the opportunity to promote it effectively due to the pandemic, but 2023 has arrived and the band, after fermenting their creative hatred, has come up with a new and savage official album. “Dissimulant” is a chaotic mix of death metal, war metal and black metal (as the press release itself makes a point of emphasising) and the eight tracks that make up the material show this broth of pure violence in its raw state.

The opening track is fuelled by pure hatred, with moments that remind me of the harshness of black/death metal from the Ross Bay Area. It should be pointed out that the album’s production doesn’t follow that raw edge, but it still shows its face in a very raw and dirty way.

“Imperium” has excellent riffs and pounding drums that hammer away at your perception while the vocals scream at the top of their lungs. Brutality in essence. There are some more climatic moments amidst the chaos during the powerful “Clinamen”, the album’s third track. This song has some really powerful riffs and guitar bases.

The merciless march continues with “Thrall”, which also mixes fast parts with more “atmospheric” ones, if you can call it that. As with the whole album, the vocals dictate the path to be followed towards total destruction. More primitive is the title track “Dissimulant”, almost martial.

Next up is “Purge”, which has a more war black metal feel, with fast riffs and dirty, vomitous vocals. The energy is incessant throughout most of the song, but there is room for everything to become denser and more melancholic too, even though it sounds like a sacrificial ritual. It’s a song that stands out for its tempo choices.

“Infinite Regress” is the penultimate song and one of my favourites. The death metal here comes across more clearly and at times it’s reminiscent of Angel Corpse and at others it’s totally different, but it grows and commands respect. The album closes with the apocalyptic “Chemical Wind”, brutal to the bone and the best track on the album for me. I like how all the weak are run over by the violence of this composition. The carnage is guaranteed.

I must also highlight the album cover, which definitely shows graphically what the music on this new RUIN LUST album is all about. A pleasant listen for those beautiful spring days when you’re blowing up everything around you.
