O PHARMACIST é uma banda relativamente nova. Foi formada em 2020 no Japão e chega agora ao seu terceiro álbum de estúdio, o maravilhosamente pútrido “Vertebrae After Vertebrae”. Eu sou suspeito para falar sobre um álbum desse estilo, já que adoro essa imundície musical conhecida como goregrind e splatter death metal….
O que para seres humanos comuns seria o motivo de repulsa imediata, para nós é poesia fétida escorrendo de orifícios nauseabundos de carcaças em avançado estado de putrefação e a música do PHARMACIST evoca essas autópsias musicais em alta qualidade.
“Vertebrae After Vertebrae” é, para mim, o melhor álbum da banda até o momento. A evolução da música desses japoneses é evidente. As músicas tem mais feeling, grandes riffs, brutalidade doentiamente calculada e vocais que saúdam as instâncias mais podres dessa nossa existência. A produção também está melhor e isso facilita compreender com mais detalhes aquilo que está sendo executado.
Todos os instrumentos criaram e fizeram o seu trabalho de forma magnífica, mas o baterista, um maldito doente conhecido como Therapeutist, destruiu tudo com sua performance sólida, direta, mas bastante técnica.
Todo o álbum me agradou imensamente. A banda está em um momento realmente intenso de sua capacidade criativa para esse estilo em questão e músicas como “Endogenica” (mais pesada e cadenciada, com bases de guitarra e riffs matadores), “Lazure Sphacelation” (mais rápida e dinâmica), “Bubonic Malacia Bloom” e “Mimicring the Organics” (talvez a melhor música do álbum ao lado de “Endogenica”)…
Obviamente as influências estão claras em cada nota. Carcass, General Surgery, Impetigo são as referências, mas o PHARMACIST faz o seu trabalho de forma tão foda que você nem pensa nisso. Quer apenas apreciar a podridão que emana da música desses japoneses doentios. É um álbum que deve estar na sua coleção se você é um apreciador da brutalidade pegajosa do splatter death goregrind metal….

PHARMACIST is a relatively new band. Formed in Japan in 2020, the group now arrives at its third studio album, the wonderfully putrid “Vertebrae After Vertebrae”. I may be a bit biased when it comes to an album like this, since I absolutely love this musical filth known as goregrind and splatter death metal…
What would be an immediate cause of disgust for ordinary human beings is, to us, fetid poetry dripping from nauseating orifices of carcasses in an advanced state of decomposition, and PHARMACIST‘s music evokes these musical autopsies with remarkable quality.
“Vertebrae After Vertebrae” is, in my opinion, the band’s best album so far. The evolution of these Japanese musicians is evident. The songs have more feeling, great riffs, sickeningly calculated brutality, and vocals that celebrate the most rotten aspects of our existence. The production has also improved, making it easier to appreciate the finer details of what is being performed.
Every instrument contributes magnificently, but the drummer, a deranged madman known as Therapeutist, destroys everything with a performance that is solid, straightforward, and highly technical.
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire album. The band is clearly experiencing a particularly intense creative phase within this style, and songs such as “Endogenica” (heavier and more deliberate, featuring crushing guitar work and killer riffs), “Lazure Sphacelation” (faster and more dynamic), “Bubonic Malacia Bloom”, and “Mimicring the Organics” (perhaps the album’s best track alongside “Endogenica”) stand out as highlights.
Obviously, the influences can be heard in every note. Carcass, General Surgery, and Impetigo are clear references, but PHARMACIST performs its craft so damn well that you hardly think about that while listening. You simply want to immerse yourself in the decay emanating from the music of these sick Japanese maniacs.
This is an album that deserves a place in your collection if you are a fan of the sticky, grotesque brutality of splatter death goregrind metal.
