DEMONIZED – Abyss Vanguard (MCD 2023)

Bom, vamos lá. Fico imaginando qual seria a possibilidade de uma banda formada por Gene Palubicki (Perdition Temple, ex-Angel Corpse), César Sánchez (Hacavitx, Reverence to Paroxysm, etc), Enrique Ruiz (Castleumbra, Fumes) e Antimo Buonanno (Hacavitz, Profanator, etc) fazer algo que não seja puro apocalipse nuclear. Existe essa chance ? Hell no !

Esses monges da devastação se uniram e criaram um MCD intitulado “Abyss Vanguard” que nas suas cinco faixas, acaba causando um estrago tão grande que poderia muito bem ter sido feito por um bomba atômica. Sou absolutamente suspeito para analisar qualquer trabalho em que Palubicki esteja presente, já que considero esse cara como um dos guitarristas mais assassinos do metal extremo atual. Os riffs que ele cria desde seus tempos de Angel Corpse são alienígenas. Tudo soa agressivo e caótico em sua execução e quando você une isso ao background dos outros membros não há abrigo que possa proteger o ouvinte durante o bombardeio a que ele é submetido.

A banda ainda tenta criar um engodo com a intro “Mali Triumphantes”, mas tudo se esvai em pó quando “Unleash the Devils Bane” inicia. Death/black tocado e composto com enxofre e fogo infernal. Não tente fazer isso em casa. Há um sério risco de derrubar seu imóvel. Os vocais são ríspidos e diretos, a bateria não conhece piedade e se mantém em modo de ataque o tempo todo e as guitarras, bem… se você conhece o trabalho de Palubicki sabe do que estou falando.

Em “Lit the Cavernous Cauldrons” há uma forte pegada do velho Angel Corpse e até mesmo algo do Morbid Angel. Música matadora. “Sempiternity” tem momentos mais contidos, mas ainda assim intensos. Me chamou a atenção que alguns arranjos e riffs de guitarra acabam saindo do estilo mais tradicional do Palubicki, trazendo algo mais novo à sonoridade da música em si.

Finalmente tudo é colocado em chamas com a última faixa “Blizzardry Of Volcanic Sulphur”, uma pancadaria incessante e impiedosa. O único defeito desse lançado é ser um MCD, pois cinco músicas não são suficientes para saciar a sede de sangue. A capa desse trabalho é perfeitamente underground.

O DEMONIZED realmente entregou aqui um material do mais puro death black metal tocado com a mais pura demonstração de ódio e maldade que você possa imaginar. Ansioso para ouvir um novo trabalho, mas dessa vez um álbum completo.

Well, let’s go. I wonder what would be the possibility of a band formed by Gene Palubicki (Perdition Temple, ex-Angel Corpse), César Sánchez (Hacavitx, Reverence to Paroxysm, etc), Enrique Ruiz (Castleumbra, Fumes) and Antimo Buonanno (Hacavitz, Profanator, etc) to do something that is not pure nuclear apocalypse. Is there a chance ? Hell no !

These monks of devastation have teamed up and created an MCD entitled “Abyss Vanguard” which in its five tracks, ends up causing a damage so great that it could very well have been done by an atomic bomb. I am absolutely suspicious to analyse any work in which Palubicki is present, since I consider this guy as one of the most killer guitarists of the current extreme metal. The riffs he creates since his Angel Corpse days are alien. Everything sounds aggressive and chaotic in its execution and when you couple this with the background of the other members there is no shelter that can protect the listener during the bombardment to which he is subjected.

The band still tries to create a decoy with the intro “Mali Triumphantes”, but everything vanishes into dust when “Unleash the Devils Bane” starts. Death/black played and composed with brimstone and hellfire. Don’t try this at home. There is a serious risk of knocking down your property. The vocals are harsh and direct, the drums know no mercy and stay in attack mode at all times and the guitars, well… if you know Palubicki’s work you know what I’m talking about.

In “Lit the Cavernous Cauldrons” there is a strong touch of the old Angel Corpse and even something from Morbid Angel. Killer song. “Sempiternity” has more restrained moments, but still intense. It struck me that some of the arrangements and guitar riffs end up leaving Palubicki’s more traditional style, bringing something new to the sound of the song itself.

Finally everything is set ablaze with the last track “Blizzardry Of Volcanic Sulphur”, a relentless and merciless thrashing. The only defect of this release is that it is an MCD, as five songs are not enough to quench the bloodlust. The cover of this work is perfectly underground.

DEMONIZED really delivered here a material of the purest death black metal played with the purest display of hatred and evil you can imagine. Looking forward to hear a new work, but this time a full album.
