O DEADSPACE é um nome novo para mim. A banda foi formada em Perth, em 2014 e ficou na ativa até 2020. Após um curto período parado, o grupo voltou à ativa em 2021 e apesar do tempo relativamente curto de atividades, “Unveiling the Palest Truth” é o sexto álbum de estúdio da banda.

A banda foge bastante do perfil do metal extremo australiano mais tradicional e oferece um álbum em que o black metal executado pelo grupo é profundamente obscuro, moldado em sentimentos negativos e com um clima de desesperança que te envolve como algo pegajoso.

O álbum abre com “Enter the Valley of the Dead”, um experimento dantesco que serve como introdução para o que vem logo a seguir. A faixa “Within His Wretched Tomb” não se preocupa em arrastar o ouvinte para dentro de um vórtex depressivo, pois é assim que a música do DEADSPACE soa. Não há beleza e muito menos alegria. Tudo é negro, feio e contagiantemente triste.

“Dwell in Desdemona” é uma composição criada com o único intuito de sugar sua alma e ela quase consegue. Riffs gélidos e partes onde a bateria é espancada com ódio são as características principais, além dos trechos onde tudo é pausado com uma fria sensação de desconforto.

A faixa título “Unveiling the Palest Truth” é o desalento em forma musical. Tudo aqui é envolto em desconforto indescritível. Arrisco a dizer que é a melhor música do álbum, já que em meio a tudo isso, a música tem um feeling gigantesco. Tudo se esvai em pó quando “A Feast for the Rats” é executada e encerra esse ritual musical. O peso descomunal e a teor ritualístico das linhas de bateria fazem dessa uma música especial também. Os vocais ficaram mais ao fundo e soam como vozes demoníacas do além.

“Unveiling the Palest Truth” é um álbum de degustação difícil, muito denso, cheio de camadas. Se você conseguir ouvir o álbum inteiro, a experiência se torna realmente poderosa. Esse é um álbum poderoso, onde nem sem a velocidade é o mais importante.

DEADSPACE is a new name for me. The band was formed in Perth in 2014 and was active until 2020. After a short period of hiatus, the group returned to activity in 2021 and despite the relatively short time of activity, “Unveiling the Past Truth” is the band’s sixth studio album.

The band departs from the more traditional Australian extreme metal profile and offers an album in which the black metal performed by the group is deeply dark, moulded in negative feelings and with an atmosphere of hopelessness that envelops you like something sticky.

The album opens with “Enter the Valley of the Dead”, a Dantesque experiment that serves as an introduction to what follows. The track “Within His Wretched Tomb” doesn’t bother to drag the listener into a depressive vortex, because that’s what DEADSPACE‘s music sounds like. There’s no beauty and even less joy. Everything is black, ugly and contagiously sad.

“Dwell in Desdemona” is a composition created with the sole intention of sucking your soul dry, and it almost succeeds. Icy riffs and parts where the drums are beaten with hatred are the main characteristics, as well as passages where everything is paused with a cold sense of discomfort.

The title track “Unveiling the Palest Truth” is despondency in musical form. Everything here is shrouded in indescribable discomfort. I’d venture to say it’s the best song on the album, because in the midst of all this, the music has a gigantic feeling. Everything vanishes into dust when “A Feast for the Rats” is played and brings this musical ritual to a close. The sheer weight and ritualistic content of the drum lines make this a special song too. The vocals are more in the background and sound like demonic voices from beyond.

“Unveiling the Palest Truth” is a difficult album to savour, very dense, full of layers. If you manage to listen to the whole album, the experience becomes really powerful. This is a powerful album, where speed isn’t even the most important thing.
