Tenho a mais absoluta certeza de que um certo amigo do estado de Minas Gerais irá rir muito e apreciar um certo nível de vitória ao ler esse review. hahahaha Sinceramente eu sempre tive uma relação de amor e ódio com o som do BENEDICTION. Não sabia muito bem o que era, mas o som desses ingleses nunca esteve na minha playlist de favoritos. Agora, mais de 30 anos depois de ouvir o som deles pela primeira vez tenho me flagrado ouvindo os seus trabalhos antigos e apreciado o que ouço. Até comprei alguns CDs para a coleção. hahahhaa Ok, Ok, me rendo.

Em 2020 a banda havia lançado “Scriptures”, seu primeiro álbum em mais de 12 anos e contou com a volta do vocalista Dave Ingram às fileiras da banda. Foi um trabalho que adquiri, ouvi e realmente gostei, mas sinceramente está anos luz atrás do poder de fogo desse “Ravage of Empires”, que acabou de ser lançado pela gravadora Nuclear Blast Records.

Vamos lá antes que eu me arrependa de estar elogiando esses velhos bastardos. hahahaha Brincadeiras à parte, esse novo trabalho do BENEDICTION é DEATH METAL com todas as letras maiúsculas e sem nenhum pingo de dúvida. Os fãs mais apaixonados talvez me matem ao ouvir essa afirmação, mas diante de tudo que já ouvi deles, “Ravage of Empires” é de longe o seu álbum mais poderoso.

Eu não lembro de ter ouvido em nenhum outro álbum do BENEDICTION um som tão intenso e direto como esse. Primeiramente a produção do álbum é absurda de tão boa. Pesadíssima, com tudo audível em seus mínimos detalhes. Mas só gravação não seguraria o álbum se ele não fossem um verdadeiro chute nas bolas. E que chute.

Não há nenhuma música que eu não tenha gostado. São 11 composições, em pouco mais de 47 minutos de um death metal sem descanso que mostra que todos nós, os “velhinhos” continuamos a chutar bundas sem nenhuma piedade. Dúvida ? Ouça esse álbum e ouse dizer que não é uma pequena obra de brutalidade musical.

Não vou destacar nenhuma música especial, pois todas tem seus momentos de devastação. Os riffs estão certeiros, a bateria marca seu ritmo como um tambor liderando as tropas para a guerra, o vocal do Ingram tá ríspido e afiado como uma navalha,

“Ravage of Empires” é realmente um álbum para ficar um bom tempo no playlist de qualquer death metalhead. Compre apenas olhando para a capa do álbum (que também kills). Garanto que se você aprecia death metal não irá se arrepender.

No Brasil o álbum foi lançado recentemente via Shinigami Records, gravadora que vem lançando tudo da Nuclear Blast no território brasileiro.

I’m absolutely certain that a certain friend from the state of Minas Gerais will laugh a lot and enjoy a certain level of victory when reading this review. hahahaha Honestly, I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with BENEDICTION‘s sound. I didn’t really know what it was, but the sound of these Englishmen was never on my playlist of favorites. Now, more than 30 years after I first heard their sound, I’ve found myself listening to their old work and appreciating what I hear. I’ve even bought a few CDs for the collection. hahahhaa Ok, Ok, I surrender.

In 2020 the band released “Scriptures”, their first album in more than 12 years, which saw the return of lead singer Dave Ingram to the band’s ranks. I bought it, listened to it and really liked it, but frankly it’s light years behind the firepower of “Ravage of Empires”, which has just been released on Nuclear Blast Records.

Let’s go before I regret praising these old bastards. hahahaha Joking aside, this new work by BENEDICTION is DEATH METAL in all capital letters and without a shred of doubt. The most passionate fans may kill me when they hear this, but compared to everything I’ve heard from them, “Ravage of Empires” is by far their most powerful album.

I can’t remember having heard any other BENEDICTION album as intense and direct as this one. First of all, the album’s production is absurd. It’s very heavy, with everything audible down to the smallest detail. But the recording alone wouldn’t hold the album together if it weren’t a real kick in the balls. And what a kick.

There isn’t a song I didn’t like. There are 11 compositions in just over 47 minutes of relentless death metal that shows that all of us “old-timers” are still kicking ass with no mercy. Any doubts? Listen to this album and dare to say that it’s not a small work of musical brutality.

I’m not going to single out any particular song, because they all have their moments of devastation. The riffs are razor-sharp, the drums pound out their rhythm like a drum leading the troops to war, Ingram’s vocals are harsh and razor-sharp,

“Ravage of Empires” is truly an album to keep on any death metalhead’s playlist for a long time. Buy it just by looking at the album cover (which also kills). I guarantee that if you like death metal you won’t regret it.

In Brazil, the album was recently released via Shinigami Records, the label that has been releasing everything by Nuclear Blast in Brazilian territory.
