GOATH – IV: Silencing the Prophets of Deceit” (Adv. CD 2025)

No próximo dia 30 de Maio o mundo será açoitado com um chicote impiedoso mais conhecido como GOATH. O trio alemão (que agora conta com o brasileiro Victor Elian, do Escarnium, no baixo) chega ao seu quarto álbum oficial e “IV: Silencing the Prophets of Deceit” apura mais ainda o death/black metal do grupo, mostrando uma banda ainda mais brutal do que em seus trabalhos anteriores.

Musicalmente acredito que o GOATH chegou em um momento único. As 11 composições que formam esse novo trabalho são incríveis e isso não é exagero da minha parte. O que me chamou a atenção logo na primeira audição foi o trabalho matador das guitarras. Os riffs estão em um patamar de intensidade e qualidade que colocar tudo no próximo nível. Ouça “Silencing the Prophets of Deceit” e ouça o inferno que é criado por esses três malditos. Em alguns momentos a complexidade das guitarras me fez lembrar algo do velho Deicide.

A brutalidade é ultrapassado com puro ódio quando “Beneath the Scum” inicia. Música ríspida, direta e totalmente fria. As guitarras meio thrash fizeram a intensidade aumentar consideravelmente. Que música destruidora. Outra música que soa tão intensa quanto, mas ainda assim consegue mostrar sua própria personalidade é a apocalíptica “The Swarm”.

“Cult of Demise” é a audição dos sons causados pela abertura de portais do submundo em que as almas perdidas gritam em puro desespero. O fogo se ergue e queima os pilares celestiais em meio à execução dessa música. Para mim os riffs de guitarra são uma das coisas mais importantes em uma banda e os que ouvi em “Dogs of Heaven” são como lâminas afiadas. Black/death em toda a sua glória. É como eu estivesse ouvindo uma mistura maldita do “Legion” do Deicide e do “Syzygial Miscreancy” do Hellwitch. Para quem conhece principalmente a segunda banda e esse álbum em específico vai entender o que eu estou falando em termos de execução nas guitarras.

O ponto mais positivo desse álbum é que ele mantém uma lógica em suas composições. Elas pertencem a um mesmo álbum, mas todas tem características próprias, uma brutalidade impiedosa, com grandes riffs de guitarra, vocais que vão do desespero à imundície, tudo revestido de blasfêmia e heresia como o black/death metal deve soar. Não aceitamos menos do que isso. Grande álbum do GOATH !

On May 30th the world will be lashed with a merciless whip better known as GOATH. The German trio (which now includes Brazilian Victor Elian, from Escarnium, on bass) has released its fourth official album and “IV: Silencing the Prophets of Deceit” further refines the group’s death/black metal, showing a band even more brutal than in its previous work.

Musically, I believe that GOATH has arrived at a unique moment. The 11 compositions that make up this new work are incredible, and that’s no exaggeration on my part. What struck me on first listen was the killer guitar work. The riffs are at a level of intensity and quality that takes everything to the next level. Listen to “Silencing the Prophets of Deceit” and hear the hell that is created by these three bastards. At times the complexity of the guitars reminded me of old Deicide.

The brutality is overcome with pure hatred when “Beneath the Scum” begins. It’s harsh, direct and totally cold. The thrash guitars turned up the intensity considerably. What a destructive song. Another song that sounds just as intense but still manages to show its own personality is the apocalyptic “The Swarm”.

“Cult of Demise” is about hearing the sounds caused by the opening of underworld portals in which lost souls scream in sheer despair. Fire rises up and burns the heavenly pillars in the middle of this song. For me, guitar riffs are one of the most important things in a band and the ones I heard in “Dogs of Heaven” are like razor-sharp blades. Black/death in all its glory. It’s like I’m listening to a bloody mix of Deicide‘s “Legion” and Hellwitch‘s “Syzygial Miscreancy”. Anyone who knows the latter band and this album in particular will understand what I’m talking about in terms of guitar playing.

The most positive thing about this album is that it maintains a logic in its compositions. They all belong to the same album, but they all have their own characteristics, a merciless brutality, with great guitar riffs, vocals that range from despair to filth, all coated in blasphemy and heresy as black/death metal should sound. We won’t accept anything less. Great album from GOATH !
