DISGRACE AND TERROR – The True Will of Evil (CD 2024)

O DISGRACE AND TERROR foi formado em 2001 na cidade de Belém/PA, norte do Brasil e é uma banda que já conta com uma trajetória longa e cheia de lançamentos. “The True Will of Evil” é o sexto álbum de estúdio desse trio e foi lançado ano passado por uma reunião de selos brasileiros, expediente esse que vem sendo utilizado com frequência para diminuir custos e expandir a divulgação da banda em lugares diferentes.

O novo álbum da banda é calcado em um death/thrash cheio de energia e riffs que vão passando pelo thrash, death e até mesmo black metal. Musicalmente me lembrou um pouco o Mercyless sueco nas partes mais intensas, tem algo de Destruction nos momentos thrash metal e tudo isso é unido em torno de explosões de brutalidade. Essa união sonora de influências cria um álbum que é muito sólido, cheio de mudanças rítmicas e muito profissional.

Uma das músicas que me agradou demais foi “The Primordial Call”. Essa faixa tem todas as características citadas acima e soa poderosa. Nos momentos mais brutais a música tem um feeling bem black metal nas guitarras.

“Set, Exalted Be Thy Name” é outra excelente faixa. Riffs a la Necrophobic e Dissection se unem a partes mais ligadas ao metal da morte e arregaçam com seus ouvidos. Os solos de guitarra são muito fudidos e executados com maestria de quem conhece da sua arte. Definitivamente o guitarrista Vinicius Carvalho merece as saudações pelo seu trabalho irrepreensível nesse álbum do DISGRACE AND TERROR. “The Malignant Sade” é uma prova disso. Grande música !

A faixa “Geburah – the Destroyer” é mais thrash metal e sinceramente, apesar de ser uma música com uma enorme estamina, é bem genérica no estilo e os vocais aqui não me agradaram tanto. Para quem aprecia algo nessa linha é uma boa pedida com certeza.

A derradeira música é “Golachab – The Flaming Ones”, que começa com mais feeling e peso. Uma boa composição que vai crescendo enquanto avança. Pessoalmente não conhecia o trabalho da banda e esse álbum foi um excelente cartão de visitas do som do DISGRACE AND TERROR.

Minha percepção é que quanto mais a banda se afasta do death/thrash melhores são as suas músicas. O melhor desses caras habita no abismo e a ele o DISGRACE AND TERROR deveria se virar. Não me agradou o vocal mais rasgado. Não soou realmente matador, mas não compromete o resultado final. Mas foi uma audição de qualidade. Metal realmente tocado com sangue nos olhos.

DISGRACE AND TERROR was formed in 2001 in the city of Belém/PA, in the north of Brazil, and is a band with a long career full of releases. “The True Will of Evil” is the trio’s sixth studio album and was released last year by a group of Brazilian labels, an expedient that has often been used to reduce costs and expand the band’s promotion in different places.

The band’s new album is based on death/thrash full of energy and riffs that go through thrash, death and even black metal. Musically, it reminded me a little of the Swedish Mercyless in the more intense parts, there’s something of Destruction in the thrash metal moments and all of this is united around explosions of brutality. This sonic union of influences creates an album that is very solid, full of rhythmic changes and very professional.

One of the songs I really liked was “The Primordial Call”. This track has all the characteristics mentioned above and sounds powerful. In the most brutal moments, the song has a very black metal feel to the guitars.

“Set, Exalted Be Thy Name” is another excellent track. Riffs a la Necrophobic and Dissection are combined with parts more linked to death metal and blow your ears off. The guitar solos are fierce and executed with the mastery of someone who knows his craft. Guitarist Vinicius Carvalho definitely deserves praise for his impeccable work on this DISGRACE AND TERROR album. “The Malignant Sade” is proof of that. Great music!

The track “Geburah – the Destroyer” is more thrash metal and frankly, although it’s a song with enormous stamina, it’s very generic in style and the vocals here didn’t please me that much. For those who enjoy something along these lines, it’s definitely a good choice.

The final song is “Golachab – The Flaming Ones”, which begins with more feeling and heaviness. It’s a good composition that grows as it progresses. I personally didn’t know the band’s work and this album was an excellent introduction to DISGRACE AND TERROR‘s sound.

My perception is that the further the band moves away from death/thrash, the better their music gets. The best of these guys dwells in the abyss and DISGRACE AND TERROR should turn to it. I didn’t like the raspy vocals. It didn’t really sound killer, but it didn’t compromise the end result. But it was a quality listen. Metal really played with blood in its eyes.
