Imagine você unir Autopsy, Possessed, Asphyx, Slayer, Grave, entre outras bandas desse nível ? O novo álbum do GRAVE INFESTATION coloca na mesa todas essas influências, criando um álbum que vai direto para o topo dos grandes álbuns de 2025. Ainda que estejamos apenas no início dessa jornada de 365 dias, “Carnage Gathers” entrega death metal sem rodeios. Brutal, com feeling, com groove, peso e riffs poderosos.

São cerca de 40 minutos que equilibram com absoluta maestria todas as influências da banda e um talento nato para criar brutalidade sem nenhum tipo de concessão e uma dose não pequena de imundície e primitivismo em sua essência.

“Living Inhumation” abre o álbum e logo desde o seu início deixa tudo girar em torno de uma experiência selvagem do mais puro death metal. Os vocais são muito bons, não realmente guturais, mas tendo aquele desespero de vocalistas como John Tardy (Obituary), Jeff Becerra (Possessed) e Martin Van Drumen (Asphyx). Não poderia dar errado. Os riffs são maldade pura. Mais tradicional impossível e é exatamente isso que nós queremos. Riffs insanos, bateria como uma marreta e vocais diretamente do abismo. hehehehe

“Ritualized Autopsy” pisa mais no freio, diminuindo a velocidade em vários momentos, apostando em riffs e bases de guitarra que vão se tornando mais e mais insanos. Mas você vai ser esmagado como se estivesse descendo ao fundo do oceano dentro de um submarino de plástico com controle de x-box. hahahahha Metal e morte se juntam aqui, agarram seu pescoço e batem sua cabeça na parede. Há diversas mudanças no ritmo da músico, não criando uma sensação de monotonia. Esses caras sabem como criar momentos que oprimem com bases de guitarra matadoras e solos caóticos.

Quando vem aquele pensamento de que não pode melhorar “Inhuman Remains” chuta a porta, adentra o recinto e dispara com uma espingarda no meio da sua cara. Há velocidade, dois bumbos como dinamites, guitarras extremamente pesadas e vocais pútridos, nojentos. A bateria me lembrou o velho Poison alemão e algo do Morbid Angel antes do primeiro álbum. Uma aura primitiva cerca essa composição, deixando com um odor nauseabundo de velhas tumbas. Grande música.

O velho thrash death metal se ergue do abismo com “Black Widow”, uma música que possui além da roupagem do velho metal da morte, algo da energia visceral do punk/hc e a técnica do thrash metal mais violento e direto. Algumas partes mais atmosféricas me trouxeram algo do Amorphis em seu primeiro álbum e o peso descomunal do Asphyx “The Rack”. A banda bebe de fontes que são simplesmente obrigatórias para qualquer death metal maníaco e o resultado são composições poderosa, maléficas e que soam ainda violentas.

“The Anthropophagus” é uma das melhores músicas do álbum. Começa com um nível inacreditável de sujeira, soando como um bate-estaca. Depois busca se conectar com os espectros de eras passadas, que se manifestam em forma de linhas de guitarra afiadas como navalhas. Enquanto ouço não dá para evita a vontade de bater cabeça na sala enquanto deslumbro o desespero dos meus vizinhos com a hecatombe que escorre do meu aparelho de som. Sofram malditos vermes religiosos !!! This is fucking death old metal, motherfuckers !

A faixa título vem na sequência e segue a mesma estrada brutal da música anterior, mas soa ainda mais como na velha escola. O riff principal é cheio de energia, mas também oferece momentos cheios de feeling. As partes mais selvagens carrega uma influência forte do velho metal sul-americano, soando muitas vezes como uma mistura do velho Vulcano e até mesmo Sarcófago. Já “Drenched in Blood” é uma faixa que tem metal puro na veia, vocais desesperadores e mais uma avalanche de brutalidade.

O álbum é finalizado com a pesada “Murder Spree” que não se envergonha e nem muito menos pensa em soar burocrática. É puro espancamento de tímpanos. Certeza absoluta que ao vivo o GRAVE INFESTATION soa como um bombardeio. O álbum já deixa essa impressão… Finalmente há de se destacar a capa do álbum que fornece o recurso visual mais do que apropriado para um álbum que deixará sua marca na brutalidade em 2025. Se você tem ouvidos de pelúcia, fique o mais longe possível.

GRAVE INFESTATION‘s new album puts all these influences on the table, creating an album that will go straight to the top of the great albums of 2025. Even though we’re only at the beginning of this 365-day journey, “Carnage Gathers” delivers death metal without beating around the bush. Brutal, with feeling, groove, weight and powerful riffs.

It lasts around 40 minutes and balances all the band’s influences with absolute mastery and a born talent for creating brutality without any concessions and a not insignificant dose of filth and primitivism in its essence.

“Living Inhumation” opens the album and right from the start lets everything revolve around a savage experience of the purest death metal. The vocals are very good, not really guttural, but with that desperation of vocalists like John Tardy (Obituary), Jeff Becerra (Possessed) and Martin Van Drumen (Asphyx). You couldn’t go wrong. The riffs are pure evil. More traditional than that and that’s exactly what we want. Insane riffs, drums like a sledgehammer and vocals straight from the abyss. hehehehe

“Ritualized Autopsy” puts the brakes on a bit more, slowing things down at various moments, relying on riffs and guitar bases that become more and more insane. But you’ll be crushed as if you were descending to the bottom of the ocean in a plastic submarine with an Xbox controller. hahahahha Metal and death come together here, grab your neck and slam your head against the wall. There are several changes in the musician’s rhythm, not creating a feeling of monotony. These guys know how to create moments that overwhelm with killer guitar leads and chaotic solos.

Just when you think it can’t get any better, “Inhuman Remains” kicks in the door, bursts in and shoots you in the face with a shotgun. There’s speed, two drums like dynamite, extremely heavy guitars and putrid, disgusting vocals. The drums reminded me of old German Poison and something of Morbid Angel before their first album. A primitive aura surrounds this composition, leaving it with a nauseating smell of old tombs. Great music.

The old death metal thrash rises from the abyss with “Black Widow”, a song that has, in addition to the old death metal garb, something of the visceral energy of punk/hc and the technique of the most violent and direct thrash metal. Some of the more atmospheric parts remind me of Amorphis on their first album and the sheer weight of Asphyx‘s “The Rack”. The band drinks from sources that are simply mandatory for any death metal maniac and the result is powerful, evil compositions that still sound violent.

“The Anthropophagus” is one of the best songs on the album. It begins with an unbelievable level of filth, sounding like a pile driver. Then it tries to connect with the spectres of past eras, which manifest themselves in the form of razor-sharp guitar lines. As I listen, I can’t help but feel like banging my head in the living room as I watch my neighbors despair at the hecatomb pouring out of my stereo. Suffer you fucking religious vermin!!! This is fucking death old metal, motherfuckers !

The title track follows and follows the same brutal road as the previous song, but sounds even more old school. The main riff is full of energy, but also offers moments full of feeling. The wilder parts carry a strong influence of old South American metal, often sounding like a mix of old Vulcano and even Sarcófago. “Drenched in Blood” is a track with pure metal in its veins, desperate vocals and another avalanche of brutality.

The album ends with the heavy “Murder Spree”, which has no shame and doesn’t even think about sounding bureaucratic. It’s pure eardrum-beating. I’m sure that live GRAVE INFESTATION will sound like a bombardment. The album already gives that impression… Finally, it’s worth highlighting the album cover, which provides a more than appropriate visual resource for an album that will leave its mark on brutality in 2025. If you have fuzzy ears, stay as far away as possible.
