MORS LITURGIAE – Cavernaculum (CD 2024)

O MORS LITURGIAE é um duo que tem em sua proposta destilar um profundo e desolador death/doom metal, surgido da conexão Manaus (AM) e Piracicaba (SP) para executar melodias fúnebres e exaltar o odor  da morte e lembrar que somente a morte é real e que ela chega para todos em vida.

Este ep contém 4 de-composições arrastadas, frias e desoladoras. Com vocais desesperadores, sepulcrais e cavernosos. Verdadeiros hinos para um cortejo fúnebre. A missa fúnebre começa com: “Baile dos Mortos” e segue com  “Derradeiros Sinos Sombrios”, “Inermes aos Vermes” e “Entre Mortos e Moribundos”. Como é um ep, o artefato tem pouco menos de 23 minutos de música arrastada, com guitarras pesadas,riffs brutais  sorumbáticos e atmosfera densa. 

O MORS LITURGIAE fez um bom trabalho que vai agradar quem aprecia músicas taciturnas, frias e pesadas. Quem aprecia bandas como: Incantation, Thergothon, Winter e outras bandas clássicas que executa um death metal com doom metal sombrio e melancólico, vai gostar desse trabalho!

Ouvindo e ouvindo várias vezes esse trabalho, a terceira faixa “Inermes aos Vermes” em algumas partes das guitarras e  as bases me lembraram a fase clássica dos suíços do Celtic Frost, uma música matadora! É óbvio que o som do MORS LITURGIAE não vai chamar atenção de quem não aprecia o metal da morte mais arrastado e que tem ouvidos mais sensíveis. 

Shi gravou baixo, guitarras e bateria e XIII os vocais. E a capa ficou a cargo de Nocto Mostellum. Diagramação por Corvos da Morte. 

Aliás, a capa é belíssima e fúnebre que casa perfeitamente com a proposta da dupla, amantes das sinfonias tristes e arrastar de correntes. O encarte é simples, porém, com fotos e fragmentos das letras da banda. A única crítica que tenho que fazer é que não colocaram o nome do estúdio que gravaram o trabalho ou mesmo o produtor que cuidou da parte técnica em estúdio.

Fragmentos da letra “Entre Mortos e Moribundos” extraído do poema “Baile das Múmias” de Carlos Ferreira. E assim, o submundo tem mais um trabalho lançado e uma nova banda para levantar a bandeira do metal da morte e arrastada. Entre moribundos e cristãos enrustidos, o underground segue seu cortejo forte e firme.

MORS LITURGIAE is a duo whose proposal is to distil a deep and desolate death/doom metal, born from the connection between Manaus (AM) and Piracicaba (SP) to perform funeral melodies and exalt the smell of death and remind us that only death is real and that it comes to everyone in life.

This ep contains 4 long, cold and desolate de-compositions. With despairing, sepulchral and cavernous vocals. True hymns for a funeral procession. The funeral mass begins with “Baile dos Mortos” and continues with “Derradeiros Sinos Sombrios”, “Inermes aos Vermes” and “Entre Mortos e Moribundos”. Since it’s an ep, the artifact is just under 23 minutes of dragging music, with heavy guitars, grim brutal riffs and a dense atmosphere. 

MORS LITURGIAE have done a good job and will please those who like their music taciturn, cold and heavy. Anyone who likes bands like Incantation, Thergothon, Winter and other classic bands that play death metal with dark, melancholy doom metal will like this album!

Listening to this album over and over again, the third track “Inermes aos Vermes” reminded me of the classic phase of the Swiss Celtic Frost, a killer song! It’s obvious that MORS LITURGIAE‘s sound won’t appeal to those who don’t appreciate the more drawn-out death metal and who have more sensitive ears.

By the way, the cover is beautiful and funereal, which fits in perfectly with the duo’s proposal, lovers of sad symphonies and the dragging of chains. The booklet is simple, though, with photos and fragments of the band’s lyrics. The only criticism I have to make is that they didn’t name the studio where they recorded the work or even the producer who took care of the technical part in the studio.

And so, the underworld has yet another work released and a new band to raise the banner of dragged-out death metal. Between moribunds and crusty Christians, the underground continues its procession strong and steady.
