Sabe aquele trabalho que prende a sua atenção desde os primeiros momentos? O novo álbum do SALACIOUS GODS (Holanda) é exemplo perfeito, uma aula magna de Black Metal mesclando o ortodoxo com o novo, extremamente magnética, intensa e que se destaca apresentando momentos brilhantes.
O quarto disco completo de estúdio, intitulado “Oalevluuk”” será lançado pela “Hammerheart Records” da Holanda no início de outubro em formatos e mídias diversas. Um retorno muito bem-vindo, já que a banda não lançava material desde 2005.
A abertura com “Rise, Oh Horned One Rise!” dispara riffs sólidos e de alto nível, amparados por atmosfera e melodias odiosas. Há partes ultra agressivas e velozes, de ótima técnica e bom gosto.
A sequência “Morbid Revelations in Blood and Semen” é devastadora. Uma breve introdução sinfônica soa quase como as trombetas anunciando o inevitável fim dos dias. O que se segue é pura violência, intolerância e ódio em forma de música extrema. Muita velocidade e insanidade, sem deixar de lado os momentos cativantes em ritmo médio. Esse som é o primeiro disponibilizado para streaming, confira no YT.
“Bloedkloete” desacelera tudo e aposta, inicialmente, na atmosfera carregada. Surpreendentemente, engrena com uma pegada Black n’ Roll contagiante, bem sacada demais. Teclados sutis aprofundam a viagem proporcionada por essa faixa, e comprova que o Black Metal é o subgênero mais criativo e menos quadrado do metal extremo atual, por mais contraditório e estranho que possa soar.
O começo de “Devotion” é rico em riffs ganchudos e potentes, mas o ritmo médio dá lugar a um som bem mais lento e funesto. Essa variedade faz bem ao álbum, tornando a audição uma experiência muito mais agradável e multidimensional. Essa é outra faixa que passa por uma metamorfose impressionante, flertando com um final dissonante, feroz e destruidor.
O ritmo acelerado retorna avassalador com a imponente “Gnosis of the God Impure”, som que abusa dos riffs em tremolo, grandes melodias e linhas de baixo bem legais. “Honor Him” é uma faixa bônus dos CDs, não estará disponível nos LPs. Trata-se de uma liturgia satânica de quase dez minutos, que não perde o pique e permanece relevante todo o tempo. Poderia facilmente ser uma quimera com suas cabeças olhando para o TAAKE atual e o DEATHSPELL OMEGA de discos mais antigos.
A sétima maldição é “Sulphur, Mingled with Poison”, outra aula classuda e irrepreensível de Black Metal tradicional, composta e executada com precisão e paixão. Digna de nota, a performance doentia do vocal “Lafawjin”, aliás ao longo de todo o trabalho.
A reta final tem a enigmática e algo ritualística “Towards the Darkening Light”, que constrói um crescendo magnífico e odioso. E a derradeira “Oalevluuk”, faixa título absurdamente agressiva, caótica e impetuosa, que ganha contornos épicos oferecendo um desfecho grandioso.
O trabalho de retorno do SALACIOUS GODS terá, na versão em CD, quase uma hora de duração. O que é ótima notícia, porque os holandeses não desperdiçaram um minuto sequer. Tecnicamente soberbo, pesado toda vida, repleto de ódio e rancor. Uma obra-prima do Black Metal atual. Anote a data 06/10/2023 e confira na íntegra.

Some records have the power to grab your attention right away, and that’s exactly what the new SALACIOUS GODS (Netherlands) does. It’s a master class in Black Metal mixing the old and new, fiercely magnetic and intense, one which stands out by delivering brilliant moments.
Their fourth full-length studio album, titled “Oalevluuk”” is set to be released by Dutch label “Hammerheart Records” in early October, in different formats and media. A most welcome return, as the veteran band had not released any material since 2005.
Opening act “Rise, Oh Horned One Rise!” fires off solid, top-notch riffs, bolstered by heavy atmosphere and sinister melodies. There are ultra-aggressive fast parts, flawlessly (and tastefully) executed.
Next in line is “Morbid Revelations in Blood and Semen”, a devastating piece. A brief symphonic introduction sounds almost like trumpets announcing unescapable doom. What follows is pure chaos, annihilation, and hatred under the wicked shape of extreme music. Breakneck speed and insanity command, but there’s room for captivating, midpaced segments. Check it out on YT as soon as possible, as this is the first available song for streaming.
“Bloedkloete” slows everything down and bets, initially, on a heavily charged atmosphere. Surprisingly, a contagious, rabid Black n’ Roll section ensues, totally unexpected yet appealing. Subtle keyboards deepen the trip provided by this track, and proves Black Metal is the most creative and unconventional subgenre of extreme metal today, as weird and contradictory as it might sound.
The beginning of “Devotion” is rich in chunky, powerful riffs, but the medium pace gives way to a much slower, overly ominous sound. Such variety is definitely positive, listening to the whole record becomes a much more enjoyable and multidimensional experience. This is another piece which goes through an impressive metamorphosis, flirting with a dissonant, fierce, and destructive finale.
The accelerated rhythm returns with the imposing “Gnosis of the God Impure”, abusing tremolo riffs, devilish melodies and a great bass sound. “Honor Him” is a bonus track on the CD version, not supposed to be available on Vinyl editions. It’s a nearly ten-minute long satanic liturgy that doesn’t miss a beat and remains relevant throughout. It feels like a Chimera with its heads looking like current TAAKE and the DEATHSPELL OMEGA from older records.
The seventh curse is “Sulphur, Mingled with Poison”, another classy and impeccable traditional Black Metal class, composed and performed with precision and passion. At this point, I should add that the insane vocals delivered by “Lafawjin” sound thoroughly haunting and extremely twisted.
The final stretch has the enigmatic and somewhat ritualistic “Towards the Darkening Light”, which builds up a magnificent, hateful crescendo. “Oalevluuk” was picked to end it all, the absurdly aggressive, chaotic, impetuous title track, which gains epic contours and provide a grandiose closure to the album.
SALACIOUS GODS’ comeback record’s playtime, considering the CD version, will hit close to an hour long. Which is great news, as the Dutch malevolent Deities didn’t waste a single minute. Technically superb, heavier than life, packed with hatred and abhorrence. A Black Metal masterpiece of the new era. Save the date 10/06/2023 and check it out!
