O REVULSED foi formado em Melbourne, na Austrália, em 2010 e cinco anos após a sua criação a banda chegou ao seu debut álbum intitulado “Infernal Atrocity”. Agora, 8 anos depois desse álbum de estreia, finalmente a banda lança o seu novo álbum de estúdio. O segundo álbum de estúdio de uma banda sempre carrega uma grande responsabilidade, pois é ele que demonstra o quão poderoso é o som do grupo e nesse caso “Cerebral Contamination” não deixa nada a desejar. Musicalmente falando o REVULSED navega por um oceano de brutalidade e complexidade, algo que é muito familiar para os fãs de bandas como Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Inveracity, entre outros.

Sendo bem honesto, o que eu ouvi nesse álbum é uma mistura poderosa do som do Suffocation e do Cannibal Corpse, com uma maior tendência ao estilo do primeiro. Mas não trata de uma cópia, longe disso. O REVULSED tem sua personalidade e sua pegada própria.

O álbum abre com a introdução “Dawn of Inhuman Savagery”, que cria o ambiente tenso para a explosão musical que se inicia com a brutal “Equitable Sufferance”. Riffs intrincados, bateria quebrada e uma vocalização assertiva. Os solos rasgam tudo com uma abordagem selvagem.

“Asomatous Existence” começa com algum groove e muito peso, mas segue a mesma linha técnica e cheia de quebradas da faixa anterior. Uma faixa que transborda intensidade vem na sequência. “Delusional Servitude” é uma das melhores faixas do álbum, pois equilibra de forma muito poderosa a velocidade, riffs mais caóticos e um vocal gutural que vem das profundezas.

Na mesma linha vem a destruição de “Beyond the Depths of the Subsconcious”, que é uma faixa perfeita para você quebrar o pescoço na frente do palco. As próximas são “Perditional Enslavement” e a monstruosa “Nefarious Devourment”, uma música que mostra o nível técnico do grupo. É uma faixa absolutamente devastadora. Um peso monumental que se mistura a níveis infernais de brutalidade e uma influência clara de Cannibal Corpse.

Minha faixa favorita chama-se “Monotheistic Postulation”. Complexa até os ossos e com uma intensidade explosiva. Os riffs e bases de guitarra comandam tudo aqui. Ouvir isso com uma bom fode de ouvido com o devido volume é obrigatório. “Inconceivable Hallucionations” mantém o nível nas alturas e vai agredindo seus tímpanos com o mais puro e impiedoso brutal death metal. Impossível sair dessa experiência auditiva sem danos colaterais graves.

O álbum finaliza com as bombas incendiárias utilizadas em “Deistic Repudiation” e a faixa título “Cerebral Contamination”, com cada uma a seu jeito contribuindo para a tortura daqueles seus vizinhos que passam o dia inteiro ouvindo reggae. Vão sofrer como malditos com a brutalidade.

“Cerebral Contamination” é um segundo álbum realmente sólido e é uma pena saber que o baixista e o guitarrista da banda saíram recentemente. Espero que isso não interfira na qualidade de composição do REVULSED e que o próximo álbum não demore mais oito anos para ver a luz.

E não menos importante, não posso deixar de citar a incrível arte da capa desse novo álbum, uma pequena obra-prima.

REVULSED was formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 2010 and five years after its inception the band reached its debut album entitled “Infernal Atrocity”. Now, eight years after that debut album, the band is finally releasing its new studio album. A band’s second studio album always carries a great responsibility, as it is the one that demonstrates how powerful the group’s sound is and in this case “Cerebral Contamination” leaves nothing to be desired. Musically speaking, REVULSED sail through an ocean of brutality and complexity, something that is very familiar to fans of bands like Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Inveracity and others.

To be quite honest, what I heard on this album is a powerful blend of the sound of Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse, with a greater tendency towards the former’s style. But it’s not a copy, far from it. REVULSED has its own personality and feel.

The album opens with the intro “Dawn of Inhuman Savagery”, which creates the tense atmosphere for the musical explosion that begins with the brutal “Equitable Sufferance”. Intricate riffs, shattering drums and assertive vocals. The solos tear it up with a savage approach.

“Asomatous Existence” begins with some groove and a lot of heaviness, but follows the same technical line and full of breakdowns as the previous track. A track bursting with intensity follows. “Delusional Servitude” is one of the best tracks on the album, as it powerfully balances speed, more chaotic riffs and a guttural vocal that comes from the depths.

In the same vein comes the destruction of “Beyond the Depths of the Subsconcious”, which is a perfect track for breaking your neck in front of the stage. Next up are “Perditional Enslavement” and the monstrous “Nefarious Devourment”, a song that shows the technical level of the group. It’s an absolutely devastating track. Monumental heaviness mixed with infernal levels of brutality and a clear Cannibal Corpse influence.

My favourite track is called “Monotheistic Postulation”. Complex to the bone and with an explosive intensity. The riffs and guitar bases rule everything here. Listening to it with a good headphone at the right volume is a must. “Inconceivable Hallucionations” keeps the level high and assaults your eardrums with the purest, most merciless brutal death metal. It’s impossible to leave this listening experience without serious collateral damage.

The album ends with the incendiary bombs used in “Deistic Repudiation” and the title track “Cerebral Contamination”, each in its own way contributing to the torture of your neighbours who spend all day listening to reggae. They’ll suffer like damned with the brutality.

“Cerebral Contamination” is a really solid second album and it’s a shame to hear that the band’s bassist and guitarist have recently left. I hope this doesn’t interfere with the quality of REVULSED‘s songwriting and that the next album doesn’t take another eight years to see the light.

And not least, I can’t fail to mention the incredible cover artwork for this new album, a little masterpiece.
