Fundada em 1996, a OFERMOD é representante autêntica e significativa do Black Metal Sueco, tendo experimentado idas e vindas em sua fase primitiva, muito em função da antiga carreira criminal (e subsequentes passagens pelo sistema carcerário) do seu, agora, regenerado fundador “Belfagor”.
Atualmente, o cara é responsável pelas composições, vocais, guitarras e baixo em estúdio. Ele é tido como membro devoto de organizações ocultistas voltadas ao Caminho da Mão Esquerda, tendo como objetivo a iluminação luciferiana por intermédio da chamada “Corrente Draconiana”.
Aproveitando sua fase mais prolífica, o músico tem lançado, em média, um registro por ano desde 2019. Esse ano, temos o EP “Ofermodian Litanies” previsto para o final de novembro, disponibilizado pelos selos suecos “Shadow Records” e “Regain Records” e gravado, produzido e masterizado por “Magnus ‘Devo’ Andersson” (OVERFLASH, ex-MARDUK).
Abrindo o material, “Mundus Imaginalis” é uma das duas faixas inéditas, gravadas com o batera “Simon “Bloodhammer” Schilling” (MARDUK, EUCHARIST, PANZERCHRIST). Grandiosa, de riffs melódicos carregados de fúria e malevolência, típicos do melhor do Metal Negro Sueco. Ritmos médios e acelerados, percussão impecável e vocal odioso fecham o círculo com sucesso.
Sua sucessora “Litanies of the Lascivious Lucifuga” conclui a dupla de inéditas com maior velocidade e com “Belfagor” vomitando perversidades de forma psicótica, como que possuído. As partes cadenciadas desse som são totalmente magnéticas, ótima faixa.
As músicas 3 e 4 foram lançadas originalmente no EP “Serpent’s Dance” de 2014, há anos fora de catálogo. “A Million Serpents Dance” chama a atenção, além do excelente instrumental, pelos vocais marcantes de “J. Kvarnbrink” (SERPENT NOIR, HEAD OF THE DEMON, MORTUUS). Que melodias foda, plenamente corrompidas e sórdidas.
Segue em alto nível com “Chaos Reverberation”, outra que me remete ao DISSECTION clássico e a alguns álbuns do WATAIN, fundamentalmente devido às guitarras majestosas e impactantes.
Fechando o EP, uma versão até então inédita para “Tiamtü”, faixa título do primeiro álbum de estúdio da banda, que saiu em 2008. Cadenciada, imponente, sombria e de ar ritualístico.
Em conclusão, um excelente lançamento do OFERMOD. Um EP que funde, indivisivelmente, passado e presente da banda, objetivo e com qualidade acima da média.
Material especialmente voltado e recomendável aos fanáticos por Black Metal. Obrigatório para os admiradores de DISSECTION (SUE), LORD BELIAL (SUE), ONDSKAPT (SUE), WATAIN (SUE), FUNERAL MIST (SUE), MORTUUS (SUE), BLAZE OF PERDITION (POL), BLACK ALTAR (POL), anotem a data 25/11 e confiram!

Founded in 1996, OFERMOD is an authentic and significant representative of Swedish Black Metal, having experienced comings and goings in its primitive stages, largely due to the former criminal career (and subsequent stints through the prison system) of its now regenerated founder “Belfagor”.
Currently, the man is responsible for songwriting, vocals, guitars, and bass playing in studio. He is also regarded as a devout member of occult organizations, focused on the Left Hand Path, aiming for Luciferian enlightenment through the so-called “Draconian Current“.
Taking advantage of his most prolific phase, the musician has released, on average, one item per year since 2019. The 2022 entry is the “Ofermodian Litanies” EP, scheduled for the end of November, to be marketed and distributed by Swedish Labels “Shadow Records” and “Regain Records” and recorded, produced, and mastered by “Magnus ‘Devo’ Andersson” (OVERFLASH, ex-MARDUK).
Opening piece “Mundus Imaginalis” is one of two brand new, previously unreleased tracks, recorded with drummer “Simon ‘Bloodhammer’ Schilling” (MARDUK, EUCHARIST, PANZERCHRIST). Magnificent, with melodic riffs charged with fury and malevolence, typical of the best Swedish Black Metal Acts. Medium and fast rhythms, impeccable percussion and hateful vocals successfully close the unhallowed circle.
Its successor “Litanies of the Lascivious Lucifuga” concludes the unreleased duo with intense speed, while “Belfagor” psychotically spews perversities, as if possessed. The cadenced parts are utterly magnetic, making it a great track.
Songs 3 and 4 were originally released on the 2014 “Serpent’s Dance” EP, which has been out of print for years now. “A Million Serpents Dance” is highly compelling, in addition to the excellent instrumental, for the striking vocals of “J. Kvarnbrink” (SERPENT NOIR, HEAD OF THE DEMON, MORTUUS). Terrific melodies, thoroughly corrupted and sordid.
The mini album moves forward dominantly with “Chaos Reverberation”, another one that reminds me of classic era DISSECTION and a few WATAIN albums, mainly due to the majestic and impactful guitars.
Closing the EP, we have an unreleased version of “Tiamtü”, the title track of the band’s first studio album, which came out in 2008. Cadenced, imposing, dark and ritualistic piece.
In conclusion, an excellent release by OFERMOD. An EP that indivisibly fuses the band’s past and present, objective and packing above-average quality.
