O chamado Pagan/Black metal é um estilo complicado hoje em dia. Há uma quantidade enorme de bandas o fazendo, em todos os lugares do mundo, seguindo as mais diversas influências, conforme a região que se encontram. De uma maneira ampla, se ouve muito pouca coisa original, ou pelo menos, que não seja tão genérica.
O alemão ODAL está nesta caminhada há mais de vinte anos, liderado por Taaken (vocais, guitarra, teclados e bateria), que atualmente tem a companhia de sua esposa Add, cujas funções na banda são as de baixista e violinista. Com todo este tempo de carreira, “Welten Mutter” é seu quinto álbum e mostra um som melódico, mas que não deixa de lado a face áspera do Black Metal.
Músicas como “Um ewigeszuschaffen”, “Der kaltenachte atem“ e “Welten Geflecht” e a faixa-título mostram a força das composições, e uma linearidade robusta.
O ponto forte do álbum são seus riffs, que devido às suas melodias, destacam-se do todo, impregnando o ambiente de forma a prender a atenção durante o decorrer das músicas, tamanha intensidade colocada nelas.
“Welten Mutter” é um álbum que se deixa escutar naturalmente e transporta o ouvinte para longínquos e gélidos pensamentos. E isto é exatamente o que se busca quando se vai ouvir algo: que traga boas sensações. Um trabalho de respeito.

The so-called Pagan/Black metal is a complicated style nowadays. There are a huge of bands doing it, all over the world, following the most diverse influences, depending on the region they are. Broadly speaking, you hear very little original, or at least not so generic.
The German ODAL has been on this journey for over twenty years, led by Taaken (vocals, guitar, keyboards and drums), who currently has the company of his wife Add, whose roles in the band are bassist and violinist. With all this career time, “Welten Mutter” is his fifth album and shows a melodic sound, but that doesn’t leave aside the rough face of Black Metal.
Songs like “Um ewigeszuschaffen”, “Der kaltenachteatem“ and “Welten Geflecht” and the title track show the strength of the compositions, and a robust linearity.
The strong point of the album are its riffs, which due to their melodies, stand out from the whole, impregnating the environment in order to capture the attention during the course of the songs, such intensity placed on them.
“Welten Mutter” is an album that lets itself be heard naturally and transports the listener to distant and icy thoughts. And this is exactly what you are looking for when you are going to hear something: that it brings good feelings. A respectful work.
