MISÞYRMING – Með hamri (Adv. CD 2022)

Eis uma banda jovem, com menos de dez anos de atividade, e que ainda não cometeu nenhum deslize em sua breve discografia. O MISÞYRMING é uma formação de Black Metal da Islândia, diminuto país europeu que tem gerado uma leva considerável de bandas interessantíssimas, principalmente voltadas ao subgênero mais maldito do Metal. 

 O finalzinho do ano tem rendido ótimos lançamentos, e o terceiro álbum de estúdio desses islandeses é um deles. O trabalho intitulado “Með hamri” ou “Com Martelo” em tradução livre, será disponibilizado oficialmente no dia 16/12 pelo selo francês “Norma Evangelium Diaboli”.

 A ambientação confrontadora do álbum é impactante, como se ouve desde o início com “Með hamri”. A faixa título é superintensa, carregada de energia punk, liderada por uma percussão urgente, explosiva e guitarras ferozes.  

 Após conclusão atmosférica contrastante da faixa de abertura, temos em “Með harmi” (algo como “com pesar”) um tipo totalmente diferente de intensidade. Cadenciada, um tanto reflexiva, com emprego menor de distorção nas guitarras, baixo mais presente e bateria marcante, pesada toda vida.

 “Engin miskunn” começa com sujeira e distorção, emendando o final esquisito da sua antecessora. Despeja Black Metal de qualidade absurda no ouvinte, com riffs estrondosos e trampo formidável do batera “M.S.”. Faz jus ao seu título “Sem Piedade” e me fez lembrar de momentos passados de grandeza do DEATHSPELL OMEGA. Sem dúvidas, uma das melhores do disco.

 O fato de cada música até aqui terminar com um minuto ou mais de sujeira é bem chato.. de qualquer forma, o início de “Engin vorkunn” ou “Sem Pena” vale a espera. Mais uma vez, um som menos direto é sequência para uma faixa extrema e colérica. Destacam-se as linhas de baixo, os vocais irados de “D.G.” e os backing vocals inusitados ao fundo.

 “Blóðhefnd” tem início sem enrolação, com a bateria marcial convocando o ouvinte para a “Vingança de Sangue” do título. É a faixa mais curta do Play, e coloca pilha com a percussão enervante. Do nada, some com o instrumental e ganha um coral etéreo, que me deixou com cara de interrogação.

 O brilhante ato de conclusão com “Aftaka” (ou “Execução”) se inicia atmosférico, com sintetizadores pesados. As guitarras extremamente distorcidas assumem, seguidas de baixo e, finalmente, a bateria. Um clima apocalíptico se instala, sob uma espiral de insanidade e melancolia. O que o batera faz aqui é incrível, em meio à performance conjunta mais exacerbada e virulenta do álbum. Intensa, dissonante, pujante, odiosa, uma das melhores músicas do Black Metal produzido em 2022 e nos anos recentes.

 Os islandeses do MISÞYRMING seguem não decepcionando, seu novo e terceiro trabalho de estúdio “Með hamri” é excelente. A turnê europeia que os aguarda a partir do início de janeiro/23 deverá ser muito bem-sucedida.

 Altamente recomendável aos fanáticos por Black Metal na veia AOSOTH (FRA), MGLA (POL), KRIEGSMASCHINE (POL), CULT OF FIRE (CZE), DEATHSPELL OMEGA (FRA) e as Islandesas SINMARA, CARPE NOCTEM e SVARTIDAUÐI.

Here’s a young band, with less than ten years of activities, and which still haven’t made a mistake in their brief discography. MISÞYRMING are a Black Metal entity hailing from Iceland, the tiny European country that has been generating a considerable number of fascinating bands, most of them focused on Metal’s most accursed and despised subgenre.

  The end of 2022 has arrived with quite some great releases, and the third studio album by these Icelanders is one of them. The work entitled “Með hamri” or “With Hammer” as roughly translated, will be officially available on 12/16 under French label “Norma Evangelium Diaboli”.

  The album’s confrontational ambience is striking, as one can hear right away with “Með hamri”. The title track is super intense, filled with venomous punk energy and led by urgent, explosive percussion and ferocious guitars.

  After the opening track’s contrasting atmospheric conclusion, we have “Með harmi” (something like “with regret”) an entirely different kind of intensity. Cadenced, somewhat reflective, with less use of distortion in guitars, a more present, vibrant bass and pounding, heavier than life drumming.

  “Engin miskunn” starts with filth and distortion, amending the awkward ending of its predecessor. It pours Black Metal of absurd quality on the listener, with thunderous riffs and formidable drumming by “M.S.”. It lives up to its title “No Mercy”, reminding me of past moments of DEATHSPELL OMEGA greatness. Undoubtedly one of the album’s finest pieces.

  The fact that every song so far ends with a minute or so of sonic filth is fairly annoying… anyways, the beginning of “Engin vorkunn” or “No Pity” is worth the wait. Once again, a less straightforward piece as the sequel to an extreme, sullen track. The bass lines stand out, as well as“D.G’s” wrathful vocals and the unusual backing vocals.

  “Blóðhefnd” begins without any delay, with martial drums summoning up the listener to the “Blood Revenge” of its title. It’s the shortest track on the record, and it packs a punch with the unnerving percussion. Out of the blue, all instrumental is gone, and an ethereal choir takes over, something which left me speechless. Yeah, it was weird.

 The brilliant concluding act “Aftaka” (or “Execution”) opens atmospherically, with heavy synths. Extremely distorted guitars take the lead, followed by bass and, finally, the drums. An apocalyptic mood sets in, under a spiral of insanity and melancholy. What the drummer does here is amazing, amidst the album’s most exacerbated and virulent performance by the band. Intense, dissonant, puissant, hateful, one of the best Black Metal songs crafted in 2022 and in recent years.

  The Icelandic MISÞYRMING continue their admirable journey, as their new and third studio work “Með hamri” is another excellent effort. The European tour awaiting them from the beginning of January/23 should be a very successful one.

  Highly recommended music for Black Metal fans into AOSOTH (FRA), MGLA (POL), KRIEGSMASCHINE (POL), CULT OF FIRE (CZE), DEATHSPELL OMEGA (FRA) and Icelandic acts SINMARA, CARPE NOCTEM and SVARTIDAUÐI.
