O HATS BARN leva o seu Black Metal ortodoxo muito a sério, e o seu novo álbum reflete isso com autoridade suprema. A entidade foi formada no norte da França em 2005, e conta com uma discografia respeitável, com todo tipo possível de formatos lançados.
Atualmente, são três os membros efetivos: O fundador “Psycho” (Vocais), “Soggoth” (Guitarras) e “Kryos” (Bateria). O baixista “Ruine” os acompanha nas apresentações ao vivo.
Seu novo trabalho é o sexto disco de estúdio, profanamente batizado (provavelmente em sangue de bode) como “Y.A.HW.E.H”, o primeiro em parceria com a gravadora francesa “Osmose Productions”, previsto para a segunda quinzena de junho. Será disponibilizado em CDs, discos de vinil e digitalmente.
Com frequência, somos acometidos por um desejo urgente de ouvir algo que não se imponha apenas pela mera brutalidade, mas que também traga consigo uma aura, e atmosfera carregados de sentimentos negativos, não raramente destrutivos e misantropos. É exatamente aí que se enquadra a obra destes maníacos, de sonoridade influenciada pelas bandas da infame “LLN” (Las Légions Noires, ou As Legiões Negras) e a cena Sueca clássica dos anos 90 e início dos anos 2000.
A intro é uma marcha de ares igualmente sinistros e triunfantes, como se a própria morte estivesse disposta à frente de uma armada, pronta a aniquilar a humanidade. O que se segue é puro apocalipse com “BAAL-ZEBUB”. Os vocais cortantes, desesperadores e por vezes estridentes de “Psycho” são um soco no estômago. As entonações são diversas, algumas mais teatrais, com bons resultados.
O instrumental segue absolutamente à risca os mandamentos profanos do Black Metal da segunda onda. Há sons mais velozes e contundentes, como na curta e direta “Y.H.W.H” e na delirante “Total Death Kult”, onde a abordagem aproxima-se bastante daquela de bandas suecas da velha escola.
Alguns dos andamentos mais legais podem ser conferidos em sons como “In Nomine Leprosy”, onde a banda capricha nos riffs hipnóticos e em segmentos repetitivos, mas sem deixar de agregar variações rítmicas. O baterista “Kryos” faz um ótimo trabalho em geral, deixando sua marca especialmente em “Under The Pillars of Daath”, uma das mais cativantes do disco.
A faixa de apresentação do álbum ao público será a sétima, “L’Enfant Doit Mourir”, com estreia prevista para 27/05 no canal da “Osmose” no YouTube. Uma escolha apropriada, sonzão de ritmo médio, guitarras e percussão matadoras e vocais sobrenaturais insanos.
Ainda como destaque individual, vale ressaltar a demência extremada de “Que La Sang Coule Dans Les Fleuves”, tanto em seus momentos coléricos, de velocidade exacerbada, quanto na passagem cadenciada que a finaliza. Performance vocal das mais odiosas já registradas.
Ótimo álbum do HATS BARN, dose ideal de Black Metal tradicional pra matar a sede do mais purista Hellbanger. Trabalho com forte apelo aos fãs de VLAD TEPES (FRA), MÜTIILATION (FRA), MARDUK (SUE), WATAIN dos primeiros discos (SUE), FUNERAL MIST (SUE), AOSOTH (FRA), ONDSKAPT (SUE), MORTE INCANDESCENTE (POR).

HATS BARN are extremely serious about their orthodox take on black metal, and their new album reflects that with supreme authority. The entity was formed in the Northern region of France in 2005, and carries a respectable discography, displaying all possible variations of releases.
They currently present three effective members: the founder “Psycho” (Vocals), “Soggoth” (Guitars) and “Kryos” (Drums). Bassist “Ruine” is their partner for live performances.
The new opus is the band’s sixth full-length album, profanely baptized (in sacrificial blood) “Y.A.HW.E.H”, the first in partnership with the mighty French Label “Osmose Productions”, scheduled for the second half of June. It will be available on CDs, vinyl LPs and digitally.
We tend to feel, quite often, seized by a rabid urge to listen to something that not only imposes itself out of sheer brutality, but also packs a truly dark, convincing atmosphere, loaded with negative feelings, some of them destructive and misanthropic. This is exactly where the work of these maniacs fits in, with a sound influenced both by the infamous acts of the French “LLN” (Las Légions Noires, or The Black Legions) and the classic Swedish BM scene of the 90’s and early 00’s.
The intro marches with equally sinister and triumphant aura, as if Death itself were standing at the head of an impious armada, ready to annihilate mankind. What follows is pure apocalypse with “BAAL-ZEBUB”. The razor-sharp, unsettling, and sometimes extremely high-pitched shrieks of “Psycho” hit like a monstrous punch in the gut. The intonations are diverse, some more theatrical, with good results.
The tight instrumental closely follows the unholy commandments of second wave Black Metal. There are faster and more commanding tracks, like the short and straightforward “Y.H.W.H” and the delirious “Total Death Kult”, where the approach is very close to the likes of MARDUK and FUNERAL MIST.
Some of the most effective tempos can be witnessed in tracks like “In Nomine Leprosy”, where the band excels in offering hypnotic riffs and repetitive segments, while still adding welcome rhythmic variations. Drummer “Kryos” does a great job in general, leaving his mark especially on “Under the Pillars of Daath”, one of the record’s most captivating pieces.
The album’s premiere track is the seventh, “L’Enfant Doit Mourir” (The Child must die), scheduled for 05/27 on the “Osmose” YouTube channel. Interesting pick, a mid-tempo hellish storm with killer guitars and percussion, and otherworldly insane vocals.
Another highlight is the extreme madness of “Que La Sang Coule Dans Les Fleuves” (Let the Blood flow in the Rivers), both in its most wrathful moments, of maddened speed, and the slower, lethargic passage that ends it. Also, one of the most hateful and evil sounding vocal performances ever recorded.
A great new album by HATS BARN, an ideal fix of traditional Black Metal, sure to quench the thirst of the most elitist Hellbangers. A work which should have a strong appeal, and thus, recommended for fans of VLAD TEPES (FRA), MÜTIILATION (FRA), MARDUK (SWE), old WATAIN (SWE), FUNERAL MIST (SWE), AOSOTH (FRA), ONDSKAPT (SWE), MORTE INCANDESCENTE (POR).
