DRIPPING DECAY – “Watching You Rot” (CD 2023)

Esses doentes bastardos do DRIPPING DECAY vem da cidade norte-americana de Portland e vomitam sem cerimônia um pavoroso death grind metal. A Black Hole Productions resolveu lançar essa que é a primeira demo tape da banda e que foi lançada originalmente em 2021, ou seja, não há tanto tempo assim.

“Watching You Rot” tem uma produção e uma pegada em sua música que me fizeram lembrar imediatamente do primeiro álbum do Terrorizer “World Downfall”. A diferença aqui aparece no fato que o DRIPPING DECAY navega por águas mais profundas do metal da morte. São 17 minutos de underground em sua forma mais pura. Um death metal sujo, com fedor de splatter em vários momentos, com excelentes riffs e uma vocalização totalmente imunda e sarcástica. Depois da Intro “Prelude to Decomposition”, os alto falantes explodem com a sórdida e bruta “Cremator”, um death/grind de respeito e totalmente velha escolha. Na sequência sua carne se desprega dos ossos quando “Dissolve Me” é executada. Mais agressão é desencadeada, acarretando sérios ferimentos em todos os ouvintes. A energia dessa música é explosiva.

A próxima é “Bay of Blood”, com um início mais contido e cheio de feeling mortal. Grande riffs e linhas de guitarra com cheio de putrefação. O que me agradou logo na primeira audição foi a sujeira da produção, que realmente nos leva de volta a outros tempos do underground extremo. A faixa titulo “Watching You Rot” tem uma influência clara de Autopsy e isso a coloca em outro nível. O pescoço se coloca em alerta para qualquer headbanging que possa se iniciar. Puta composição.

“Sadistic Excruciator” é outra porrada grindeath da mais alta qualidade. O material inteiro tem poucos mais de 17 minutos e isso faz com que tudo passe rápido demais. “Watching You Rot” é um excelente lançamento e que irá agradar a todos os maníacos sedentos de brutalidade. O material se encerra com a bucólica Outro “The Aftermath”. A produção do CD lançado no Brasil é muito bem feita e totalmente old school, algo que eu curto muito.

These sick bastards from DRIPPING DECAY hail from the US city of Portland and unceremoniously spew out dreadful death grind metal. Black Hole Productions decided to release this, the band’s first demo tape, which was originally released in 2021, i.e. not that long ago.

“Watching You Rot” has a production and feel to its music that immediately reminded me of Terrorizer‘s first album “World Downfall”. The difference here lies in the fact that DRIPPING DECAY navigates the deeper waters of death metal. It’s 17 minutes of underground in its purest form. Dirty death metal, with a stench of splatter at various times, excellent riffs and totally filthy, sarcastic vocals.

After the intro “Prelude to Decomposition”, the speakers explode with the sordid and brutal “Cremator”, a death/grind of respect and totally old school. Then your flesh comes off your bones when “Dissolve Me” is played. More aggression is unleashed, causing serious injury to all listeners. The energy of this song is explosive.

Next up is “Bay of Blood”, with a more restrained start and full of deadly feeling. Great riffs and guitar lines full of putrefaction. What struck me on first listen was the grimy production, which really takes you back to the days of the extreme underground. The title track “Watching You Rot” has a clear Autopsy influence and that puts it on another level. It puts your neck on alert for any headbanging that might start. Great songwriting.

“Sadistic Excruciator” is another grindeath smash of the highest quality. The whole thing is just over 17 minutes long and that makes it go by too fast. “Watching You Rot” is an excellent release that will please all brutality-hungry maniacs. The album closes with the bucolic outro “The Aftermath”.

The production of the CD released in Brazil is really well done and totally old school, something I like very much. If you’re a fan of bands like TERRORIZER, GENERAL SURGERY, AUTOPSY, IMPETIGO, etc…
