DIVINE PAIN – Destructive Measures (CD 2024)

Quando uma congregação de demônios amantes de death metal se unem em prol da música extrema e são velhos anciões do submundo com histórias e lutas dentro do underground brasileiro é certeza que não decepcionaram os die hard que apreciam o metal da morte.

Danilo Coimbra guitarrista e fundador do DIVINE PAIN,  banda que começou na cidade de Salvador-BA, e que contém em sua discografia o ep “…Tomb of the Sun” (2008) e o full length “Immortality”(2010), Agora, 15 anos depois do seu último lançamento, finalmente a banda lançou o seu segundo trabalho.

Danilo Coimbra, que também faz parte da lendária banda da terra sem salvação, Headhunter DC, montou um “dream Team” que vivem e respiram death metal o qual são os demônios: Fábio Brayner, no vocal e que fez parte das bandas: As The Shadows Fall,Hellspawn, Sanctifier e Decomposed. E o Brayner não perdeu a maldade e a fúria. O cara já gravou um clássico do metal da morte, nacional, um disco perfeito “Awaked by Impurity Rites” de 2004, com o Sanctifier. 

E neste trabalho o cara continua urrando e cuspindo nesta mad society da mesma forma que fazia há vinte anos. Com raiva e fúria! Na bateria ele trouxe Daniel Beans, que também faz parte do Headhunter DC, Malefactor e Vermis Mortem. E para o posto de baixista Rodrigo Nunes, do Drowned. Com esses músicos gabaritados não tinha como não lançar um grande trabalho e apesar de estarmos no início do ano, esse trabalho tem tudo para ser um dos melhores lançamentos de death metal brasileiro em 2025.

“Destructive Measures” é composto de dez  “decomposições” de um furioso e violento death metal. Disco para ouvir no funeral de Deus ou para exorcizar posers e cristãos, sem dó e sem piedade!

O play abre com a intro “Prelude To The Apocalypse” e o nome combina perfeitamente com o que vem antes do fim de tudo! Realmente o DIVINE PAIN  com esse trabalho veio para destruir toda hipocrisia e dogmas criados neste mundo. Esse disco é a trilha sonora para o prelúdio para o apocalipse e o juízo final!

Não tem como eu citar faixa por faixa, a resenha ficaria demasiada grande e faltaria palavras e adjetivos para transcrever sobre esse grandioso trabalho.Só pela união desses demônios e suas histórias dentro do underground brasileiro já sabemos que entraram  em estúdio e gravaram um material muito bem executado e gravado. Com uma ótima produção. Guitarras com bases e solos perfeitos! Aliás, os solos de Danilo tem muitas melodias, técnica, e agressividade. O   baixo de Rodrigo é pesado e consistente. E a bateria de Daniel Beans soa poderosa,rápida, mortal e destruidora! E o vocal de Fabio  é grotesco, cavernoso e assustador. 

Como já disse: “Destructive Measures” não tem faixas ruins, é metal da morte matador. Com riffs poderosos e baterias pesadas e bumbos que soam como uma  metralhadora e vocais insanos, mas se fosse para citar minhas faixas favoritas são: “The God’s Funeral”, que tem um riff poderoso e uma bateria reta e direta.  Me trouxe uma lembrança de Headhunter DC no instrumental e até o vocal de Brayner, me lembrou em algumas partes o Sérgio Ballof. Outras faixas que gostei muito são: “Gospels Of Damnation”, “Deus Mortuus Est” e “A Path Into The Void”. Uma aula de metal da morte com guitarras soando poderosas, riffs e mais riffs com fúria e bateria destruidoras e bem trabalhadas.

Eu amo doom metal e a última faixa “A Path Into The Void” é um doomzão arrastado, taciturno,melancólico e frio. É incrível a capacidade do senhor Brayner que interpretou cada frase, cada nota de uma forma tão profunda que nos leva para dentro do abismo escuro e vazio. Como já disse e vou citar de novo: o álbum todo é uma obra-prima! Todas as faixas estão no mesmo nível, mas “A Path Into The Void” é o grande destaque desse trabalho. Fechando a tampa do caixão e finalizando o funeral de Deus e chutando a bunda de cristãos e posers!

O DIVINE PAIN antes mesmo do lançamento do álbum passou por mudança na formação  com dois novos membros sendo o cuiabano Luiz Magrão, do Convulsive, que assumiu o baixo nos dias atuais e na bateria Iaçanã lendário baterista baiano que passou pelo Headhunter DC e Thrash Massacre.

Uma obra-prima precisa ter bom gosto em tudo! Óbvio que a música é a parte mais importante tratando-se de uma banda e um lançamento físico,né ? Neste quesito os caras chamaram para criar a arte/layout o mestre Alcides Burn e fez um ótimo trabalho. Arte da capa fudido! Gostei das cores!

A produção ficou muito bem produzida e poderosa.  Mixado & masterizado por Vicente Fonseca, no Preto Studio, em Salvador.(BA). A banda hoje tem integrantes que residem em outros estados, por exemplo: Rodrigo gravou sua bateria em um estúdio em Belo Horizonte,(MG) Danilo as guitarras, em Salvador e também programou a bateria em parceria com Daniel Falcão. Os vocais de Fábio foram gravados no Estúdio Mercearia em Brasília (DF) aos cuidados de Carlinhos Silva, e mesmo passando em vários estúdios e gravando separados, o resultado final ficou perfeito. Coisas do mundo contemporâneo e da tecnologia.

E para acrescentar nesta congregação demoníaca Sérgio Ballof, vocalista da Headhunter DC e um feroz defensor amante e conhecedor do “deti metal” criou o logo da banda.

Esperamos ver o DIVINE PAIN  em cima do palco com essa congregação de demônios e fazendo alegria dos amantes do death metal, executando esse trabalho magnífico ao vivo pelo submundo!

When a congregation of death metal-loving demons unite for the sake of extreme music and are old men from the underworld with histories and struggles within the Brazilian underground, it is certain that they will not disappoint the die-hards who appreciate death metal.

Danilo Coimbra, guitarist and founder of DIVINE PAIN, a band that started out in the city of Salvador-BA, and whose discography includes the ep “…Tomb of the Sun” (2008) and the full length “Immortality” (2010), Now, 15 years after their last release, the band has finally released their second album.

Danilo Coimbra, who is also part of the legendary band from the land of no salvation, Headhunter DC, has assembled a dream team that lives and breathes death metal, which is the demons: Fábio Brayner, on vocals and who was part of the bands: As The Shadows Fall, Hellspawn, Sanctifier and Decomposed. And Brayner hasn’t lost his malice and fury. He has already recorded a national death metal classic, a perfect album “Awaken by Impurity Rites” from 2004, with Sanctifier. 

And on this album he continues to roar and spit at mad society in the same way he did twenty years ago. With rage and fury! On drums he brought in Daniel Beans, who is also part of Headhunter DC, Malefactor and Vermis Mortem. And for bass Rodrigo Nunes, from Drowned. With these skilled musicians, there was no way they wouldn’t release a great piece of work and even though we’re at the beginning of the year, this work has everything it takes to be one of the best Brazilian death metal releases of 2025.

“Destructive Measures” is made up of ten ‘decompositions’ of furious and violent death metal. A record to listen to at god’s funeral or to exorcise posers and Christians, mercilessly!

The play opens with the intro “Prelude To The Apocalypse” and the name fits perfectly with what comes before the end of everything! With this album, DIVINE PAIN has really come to destroy all the hypocrisy and dogmas created in this world. This album is the soundtrack to the prelude to the apocalypse and the final judgment!

There’s no way I can quote track by track, the review would be too long and I’d lack words and adjectives to transcribe this great work. Just by uniting these demons and their stories within the Brazilian underground, we already know that they went into the studio and recorded a very well executed and recorded material. With great production. Guitars with perfect bases and solos! In fact, Danilo’s solos are full of melodies, technique and aggression. Rodrigo’s bass is heavy and consistent. And Daniel Beans’ drums sound powerful, fast, deadly and destructive! And Fabio’s vocals are grotesque, cavernous and frightening. 

As I’ve already said: “Destructive Measures” has no bad tracks, it’s killer death metal. With powerful riffs, heavy drums, machine-gun drums and insane vocals, but if I were to name my favorite tracks, they would be: “The God’s Funeral”, which has a powerful riff and straightforward drums.  It reminded me of Headhunter DC in the instrumental and even Brayner’s vocals reminded me of Sérgio Ballof in some parts. Other tracks I really liked are: “Gospels Of Damnation”, “Deus Mortuus Est” and “A Path Into The Void”. A lesson in death metal with powerful sounding guitars, riffs and more riffs with fury and well-crafted, destructive drums.

I love doom metal and the last track “A Path Into The Void” is a dragging, taciturn, melancholy and cold doom. Mr. Brayner’s ability to interpret every phrase, every note in such a profound way that it takes us into a dark and empty abyss is incredible. As I’ve already said and I’ll say it again: the whole album is a masterpiece! All the tracks are on the same level, but “A Path Into The Void” is the highlight of this work. Closing the coffin lid and finalizing God’s funeral and kicking the asses of Christians and posers!

Even before the album was released, DIVINE PAIN had a line-up change with two new members: Luiz Magrão, from Convulsive, from Cuiabá, who took over the bass these days, and Iaçanã, a legendary drummer from Bahia who played for Headhunter DC and Thrash Massacre, on drums.

A masterpiece needs to have good taste in everything! Of course, the music is the most important part when it comes to a band and a physical release, right? In this regard, the guys called in the master Alcides Burn to create the artwork/layout and he did a great job. Fucking cover art! I liked the colors!

The production was very well produced and powerful.  Mixed & mastered by Vicente Fonseca at Preto Studio in Salvador (BA). The band today has members who live in other states, for example: Rodrigo recorded his drums in a studio in Belo Horizonte, (MG) Danilo the guitars, in Salvador and also programmed the drums in partnership with Daniel Falcão. Fábio’s vocals were recorded at Estúdio Mercearia in Brasília (DF) under the care of Carlinhos Silva, and even though they went through several studios and recorded separately, the end result was perfect. Things of the contemporary world and technology.

And to add to this demonic congregation, Sérgio Ballof, lead singer of Headhunter DC and a fierce lover and connoisseur of “deti metal”, created the band’s logo.

We look forward to seeing DIVINE PAIN on stage with this congregation of demons and making death metal lovers happy by performing this magnificent work live in the underworld!
