“Anthems” é um álbum que levou nove anos para a luz do dia. Esse foi o tempo que se passou desde o último álbum de estúdio que foi lançado pelos veteranos do CHRIST AGONY.
Em seu nono álbum oficial, o CHRIST AGONY fortalece a sua trajetória com um álbum pesadíssimo, que aposta em uma música não tão rápida, mas cheia de feeling, vestindo suas composições com um manto de qualidade e melodia diferenciados.
“Anthems” se inicia com a faixa “Empire of Twilight”, uma composição pesada, mais contida e com grandes momentos criados pelas guitarras. É uma música que deve soar realmente incrível ao vivo, se executada com ódio e com uma boa iluminação e fumaça encobrindo a todos.
“Throne of Eternal Silence” começa como um antigo ritual aborígene e quando todo o instrumental explode no seu auto-falante é uma composição épica que se apresenta. Lembra muito o Bathory em sua fase “viking”, mas soa mais denso e traz alguns arranjos diferentes e bem interessantes. A faixa soa grandiosa e envolvente. Uma das melhores do álbum com certeza.
Indo na contramão das duas primeiras faixas, “Sanctuary of Death” é uma faixa mais intensa, mais dura e impiedosa, mas sem abandonar a linha de composição adotada nesse trabalho. As linhas de guitarra tem uma melodia matadora e os teclados criam o ambiente carregado que se faz necessário.
As partes mais lentas são totalmente emocionais e soam incríveis. Um belo trabalho de criação artística em nome da escuridão musical. Essas partes lentas e pesadas estão bastante presentes na próxima música “Rites of Black Sun”, uma ode marcial ao metal negro e uma grande composição.
“Dark Waters” continua entregando a mesma qualidade das outras músicas e prepara o ouvinte para a última faixa do álbum. “Nocturnal Dominion” começa melódica e cheia de feeling, cadenciada e soando perfeita para bater cabeça .
“Anthems” é um excelente álbum de black metal que honra a trajetória desses veteranos poloneses. Hail Christ Agony !!

“Anthems” is an album that took nine years to finally see the light of day. That’s how long it’s been since the last studio release from the veterans of CHRIST AGONY.
On their ninth official album, CHRIST AGONY strengthens their legacy with a crushing record that bets on music that isn’t necessarily fast, but absolutely full of feeling—draping their compositions in a mantle of quality and a distinct sense of melody.
“Anthems” opens with “Empire of Twilight”, a heavy, more restrained track with great moments crafted by the guitars. It’s the kind of song that must sound incredible live, performed with hatred, enhanced by good lighting and smoke engulfing the stage.
“Throne of Eternal Silence” begins like an ancient Aboriginal ritual, and when the full instrumentation erupts from your speakers, an epic composition reveals itself. It strongly recalls Bathory’s “viking” era, but with a denser atmosphere and some different, quite interesting arrangements. The track feels grand and immersive—definitely one of the standouts on the album.
Going in the opposite direction of the first two tracks, “Sanctuary of Death” is more intense, harsher, and merciless, yet without abandoning the compositional line adopted throughout this work. The guitar lines carry a killer melody, and the keyboards create the heavy, oppressive atmosphere that the music demands.
The slower passages are deeply emotional and sound incredible—an impressive artistic creation in the name of musical darkness. These slow, heavy sections are very present in the next track, “Rites of the Black Sun”, a martial ode to black metal and a great composition.
“Dark Waters” maintains the same level of quality as the previous tracks and prepares the listener for the album’s final assault. “Nocturnal Dominion” begins melodic and full of feeling, mid-paced, and absolutely perfect for headbanging.
“Anthems” is an excellent black metal album that honors the legacy of these Polish veterans. Hail Christ Agony!!
