O CEMETERY URN se converteu em uma máquina de destruição desde seu primeiro álbum, “Urn of Blood”, de 2007 e desde então vem triturando os seus fãs com um lançamento mais destruidor que o outro e esse “Suffen the Fallen”, lançado agora em 2023 não foge dessa regra.

O metal extremo australiano sempre foi um moedor de carne e o CEMETERY URN cumpre esse papel de forma exemplar com “Suffer the Fallen”, mas posso afirmar com certeza que a banda evoluiu muito desde seu último álbum. Os arranjos das músicas estão mais minimalistas, os riffs possuem mais alma e soam orgânicos, assim como o baixo e a bateria que intensificam tudo ao redor.

O álbum abre sem momentos para respirar ao explodir tudo com a faixa “Damnation is in the Blood”. Música impiedosa, totalmente brutal e com diversas mudanças rítmicas. “Kill at a Distance” vem na sequência e mantém o nível de brutalidade nas alturas, mas oferece também momentos mais contidos, onde a atmosfera se torna mais obscura, oferecendo até mesmo um solo de guitarra matador.

Uma das melhores é “Savage Torment” que tem uma pegada totalmente na veia do velho Bolt Thrower. O riff principal é um daqueles que partem seu pescoço sem muito esforço e a execução dessa composição ao vivo deverá criar um pandemônio de proporções épicas.

A selvageria que é inerente ao CEMETERY URN se materializa novamente com a bombástica “Embers of the Burning Dead”. Riffs frios e diretos movem o maquinário em direção a um clímax de devastação. Há momentos de pura melancolia baseada em peso e distorção. Mais lenta, pesada e climática é “Room of Depravity”, outra faixa que se destaca nesse álbum. A vocalização é ultra brutal e podre, um oferecimento do demônio chamado Chris Volcano. Quando a velocidade retorna, um dos melhores riffs do álbum é executado em meio ao tiroteio criado pela bateria. Uma música que sabe com maestria unir feeling e brutalidade.

A faixa título já se inicia como um bate estaca que vai martelando sua mente de forma incessante. A atmosfera criada lembra o Incantation, ou seja, a coisa se torna maligna muito prontamente.

As duas últimas faixas “Compulsive Degradation” e “It Will End in Death” fecham de forma perfeita um álbum magnífico que só possui um defeito, a gravação da bateria, que ficou muita seca e sem peso. São duas pedradas que vão derrubando tudo abaixo como uma avalanche. “Suffer the Fallen” é um dos melhores trabalhos já lançados pelo CEMETERY URN e só cria expectativas do que pode vir por aí no futuro.

Gravadoras do Brasil, vamos licenciar esse trabalho para o público brasileiro. Isso merece circular em meio à nossa cena.

CEMETERY URN have become a machine of destruction since their first album, 2007’s “Urn of Blood”, and since then they’ve been crushing their fans with one more destructive release than the next, and “Suffer the Fallen”, released now in 2023, is no exception.

Australian extreme metal has always been a meat grinder and CEMETERY URN fulfils that role in exemplary fashion with “Suffer the Fallen”, but I can say with certainty that the band has evolved a lot since their last album. The song arrangements are more minimalist, the riffs have more soul and sound organic, as do the bass and drums, which intensify everything around them.

The album opens without a moment to breathe, exploding with the track “Damnation is in the Blood”. It’s merciless, totally brutal music with several rhythmic changes. “Kill at a Distance” follows and keeps the brutality level high, but also offers more restrained moments, where the atmosphere becomes darker, even offering a killer guitar solo.

One of the best is “Savage Torment”, which is totally in the vein of old Bolt Thrower. The main riff is one of those that will break your neck without much effort and performing this composition live should create a pandemonium of epic proportions.

The savagery that is inherent in CEMETERY URN materialises again with the bombastic “Embers of the Burning Dead”. Cold, direct riffs move the machinery towards a climax of devastation. There are moments of pure melancholy based on heaviness and distortion. Slower, heavier and more climatic is “Room of Depravity”, another track that stands out on this album. The vocals are ultra brutal and rotten, an offering from the demon called Chris Volcano. When the speed returns, one of the best riffs on the album is played amidst the gunfire created by the drums. A song that masterfully combines feeling and brutality.

The title track “Suffer the Fallen” begins like a pile driver, hammering away at your mind incessantly. The atmosphere created is reminiscent of Incantation, which means that things become evil very quickly.

The last two tracks, “Compulsive Degradation” and “It Will End in Death”, perfectly round off a magnificent album that only has one flaw, the recording of the drums, which is too dry and lacks weight. These are two stoners that bring everything down like an avalanche. “Suffer the Fallen” is one of the best albums ever released by CEMETERY URN and only raises expectations of what’s to come in the future.

Record companies in Brazil, let’s licence this work for the Brazilian public. It deserves to circulate in our scene.
