BLOEDMAAN – “Castle Inside the Eclipse” (CD 2023)

O black metal belga pode se considerar muito bem representado com esse novo membro de seu underground. Tendo sido formado no ano passado, em 2022, o BLOEDMAAN lançou ontem, dia 15 de Dezembro o seu primeiro lançamento oficial, que é também o seu primeiro álbum de estúdio.

E que início promissor esse projeto feito pelo multi instrumentista Ronarg teve. “Castle Inside the Eclipse” é um álbum que poderia muito bem ter sido lançado no cenário dos anos 90 e teria tudo uma aceitação ampla.

Se você aprecia o black metal ríspido e rápido, mas ainda assim cheio de melodia e melancolia, esse álbum irá oferecer tudo isso com extrema competência.

Uma grande arte de capa sempre aumenta as expectativas e o BLOEDMAAN soube atingir essas expectativas com maestria. A faixa de abertura é uma volta ao tempo, onde o black metal ainda era um estilo odiado e temido pela sociedade. Linhas de guitarra incríveis, a bateria martelando sem piedade e vocais de puro desespero. Isso é black metal !

“Cursed Charms of Death” tem um riff de início que é matador. Soa mortal e belo ao mesmo tempo. A melodia dessa composição é hipnótica e vai agindo sobre o ouvinte enquanto o ritmo segue intenso. Já “Haunted Melancholic Obsessions” é uma viagem épica de grande impacto. É uma música realmente com um enorme feeling.

Ainda mantendo o ritmo menos frenético, “Winged Flight Under the Pale Moon” vem com mais energia e mantendo os riffs melódicos como sua base de sustentação. Em alguns momentos lembra os suecos do Dissection. A velocidade aliada a linhas mais cheias de feeling criam um grande efeito na percepção da música.

Fechando esse álbum temos “The Hunter´s Dream”, que corre atrás de sua presa com gana e velocidade. O álbum todo é uma resgate incrível daquele black metal extremo e melódico e é muito bom ouvir um trabalho como esse em pleno 2023. Mostra que aquela sonoridade não morre, continuando viva no sangue de uma legião infernal.

Belgian black metal can consider itself very well represented with this new member of its underground. Formed last year in 2022, BLOEDMAAN released their first official release yesterday, 15 December, which is also their first studio album.

And what a promising start this project by multi-instrumentalist Ronarg has made. “Castle Inside the Eclipse” is an album that could well have been released in the 90s and would have been widely accepted. If you like your black metal harsh and fast, but still full of melody and melancholy, this album will deliver it all with extreme competence.

Great cover art always raises expectations and BLOEDMAAN has masterfully met those expectations. The opening track is a throwback to a time when black metal was still a style hated and feared by society. Incredible guitar lines, mercilessly pounding drums and vocals of pure desperation. That’s black metal!

“Cursed Charms of Death” has a killer opening riff. It sounds deadly and beautiful at the same time. The melody of this composition is hypnotic and acts on the listener while the rhythm is intense. “Haunted Melancholic Obsessions” is an epic journey of great impact. It’s a song with real feeling.

Still keeping a less frenetic pace, “Winged Flight Under the Pale Moon” is more energetic, with melodic riffs as its mainstay. At times it is reminiscent of the Swedes from Dissection. The speed combined with the more feeling-filled lines create a great effect on the perception of the music.

Closing this album is “The Hunter’s Dream”, which goes after its prey with gusto and speed. The whole album is an incredible revival of that extreme, melodic black metal and it’s great to hear work like this in the middle of 2023. It shows that that sound is not dead, but lives on in the blood of a hellish legion.
