O primeiro lançamento oficial de uma banda é sempre um marco na trajetória de qualquer grupo e quando esse primeiro material já oferece música em alto nível é ainda mais gratificante. O CANCER VOID foi formado ano passado na República Tcheca e nesse primeiro EP oficial intitulado “First Metastasis”, já mostra que é um player sério dentro do cenário death metal europeu.
A banda não poupa peso em cada uma das músicas que compõem esse EP. Em pouco mais de 20 minutos de duração, o CANCER VOID entrega um metal da morte ultra tradicional, com muito peso, riffs rasgando e vocais guturais como manda o figurino. Gostei muito da atmosfera carregada de maldade que você encontra durante a execução das músicas. “Breeding Pyramids” vem logo depois da “Introduction” e mostra exatamente que essa receita funciona muito bem. Há, aqui e ali, velocidade sendo utilizada, mas tudo gira muito mais intensamente em torno do peso das guitarras e de andamentos de bateria que focam uma dinâmica que vai além apenas da brutalidade.
“Encased in Veins” tem mais intensidade e em sua simplicidade se mostra como uma das grandes faixas desse EP. A produção é poderosa e isso faz uma grande diferença na entrega do resultado final. Tudo soa poderoso e muito claro. Uma das faixas mais contundentes é “Ammonian Baths”, rápida, pesadíssima e com uma vocalização mais brutal.
A última faixa é que realmente vai chutar sua bunda sem piedade alguma. Me lembrou um pouco em alguns momentos as partes rápidas do Asphyx. É a música mais brutal e a que te impacta com mais força. Com certeza esse “First Mestatasis” é um começo com pé direito e um trabalho de death metal totalmente sólido e direto. Espero ouvir novas músicas deles em breve.

A band’s first official release is always a milestone in any group’s career, and when that first material already offers high-level music, it is even more gratifying. CANCER VOID was formed last year in the Czech Republic, and in this first official EP entitled “First Metastasis”, they already show that they are serious players in the European death metal scene.
The band doesn’t hold back on any of the songs on this EP. In just over 20 minutes, CANCER VOID delivers ultra-traditional death metal, with heavy riffs and guttural vocals as expected. I really liked the atmosphere charged with evil that you find during the performance of the songs. “Breeding Pyramids” comes right after “Introduction” and shows exactly that this recipe works very well. There is speed being used here and there, but everything revolves much more intensely around the weight of the guitars and drum beats that focus on a dynamic that goes beyond just brutality.
“Encased in Veins” has more intensity and, in its simplicity, proves to be one of the great tracks on this EP. The production is powerful, and that makes a big difference in the final result. Everything sounds powerful and very clear. One of the most striking tracks is “Ammonian Baths”, which is fast, very heavy, and has more brutal vocals.
The last track is the one that will really kick your ass without mercy. It reminded me a little at times of the fast parts of Asphyx. It is the most brutal song and the one that hits you the hardest. Certainly, “First Mestatasis” is a great start and a totally solid and straightforward death metal work. I hope to hear new songs from them soon.
