SEPULCHRAL WHORE – The Return from a Sepulchral Rest (CD 2024)

Não há dúvida de que “The Return from a Sepulchral Rest” dos pernamucanos do SEPULCHRAL WHORE foi um dos melhores álbuns nacionais de death metal lançados ano passado e finalmente pude parar e escrever essa resenha de um trabalho que transborda maturidade e qualidade.

Primeiramente apesar de você encontrar as mais diversas influências mundiais na música desses pernambucanos, algo é muito presente e evidente na música deles: uma selvageria que apenas bandas brasileiras possuem na execução de sua música. Isso é raro de se encontrar nas bandas hoje em dia e quando você encontra faz com que a banda possua elementos que a diferenciam.

“Schizophrenic Killer” é a faixa que abre o álbum depois da Intro “From Rest to March”. Música direta, com grandes riffs e blast beats, além de influências do old school death metal. Influências como Sepultura, Deicide e Death surgem aqui e ali durante a audição da faixa.

A brutalidade do death metal evidencia-se em “…From the Utterly Perished”. O uso de teclados aqui criam aquela atmosfera tétrica que é poderosa. Muito peso também está presente na música. Há momentos mais próximos em termos de modernidade quando “Deadly Infection” explode nos auto falantes. Há aqui uma evidente influência do punk na linha de bateria e guitarra, mas tudo dentro de uma ótica do metal da morte.

Uma das faixas que mais apreciei é “Dimness”. Há uma avalanche de grandes riffs aqui e uma aura de pura maldade surge dessa composição. Infelizmente é uma faixa instrumental, mas consigo imaginar ela com guturais sendo vomitados. Mas se você procurar faixas com vocal, ouça a matadora “Purgatorial Holes”, cuja intensidade é palpável.

A velha escola é exaltada em “Whore from Sepulcher”. Bons riffs e partes que te induzem a bater cabeça. Uma das melhores músicas do álbum é a longa e cheia de feeling “Putrefaction After Death”. Com mais de 8 minutos, essa composição não soa exagerada e é uma forma poderosa de encerrar um excelente álbum. Fico muito feliz de ouvir algo de tamanha qualidade vindo da minha velha Recife, cidade em que cresci e pude ter experiências matadoras dentro do metal da morte e no metal negro.

Se tiver a oportunidade de ouvir esse trabalho, não a desperdice. Corra atrás e adquira o álbum. A produção final é realmente muito boa, tanto em termos de gravação quanto na parte gráfica. A cópia que adquiri é um digipack muito bem feito.

There’s no doubt that “The Return from a Sepulchral Rest” was one of the best Brazilian death metal albums released last year and I was finally able to stop and write this review of a work that oozes maturity and quality.

First of all, although you can find the most diverse global influences in the music of these bands from Pernambuco, something is very present and evident in their music: a savagery that only Brazilian bands possess in the execution of their music. This is rare to find in bands nowadays and when you do, it makes the band possess elements that set them apart.

“Schizophrenic Killer” is the track that opens the album after the intro “From Rest to March”. Straightforward music, with great riffs and blast beats, as well as old school death metal influences. Influences such as Sepultura, Deicide and Death appear here and there as you listen to the track.

The brutality of death metal is evident in “…From the Utterly Perished”. The use of keyboards here creates that tetchy atmosphere that is so powerful. A lot of heaviness is also present in the music. There are closer moments in terms of modernity when “Deadly Infection” blasts through the speakers. There’s a clear punk influence here in the drums and guitar lines, but all from a death metal perspective.

One of the tracks I enjoyed the most is “Dimness”. There’s an avalanche of great riffs here and an aura of pure evil emerges from the composition. Unfortunately it’s an instrumental track, but I can imagine it with gutturals being spewed. But if you’re looking for vocal tracks, listen to the killer “Purgatorial Holes”, whose intensity is palpable.

The old school is exalted in “Whore from Sepulcher”. Good riffs and parts that induce you to bang your head. One of the best songs on the album is the long and full of feeling “Putrefaction After Death”. At over 8 minutes, it doesn’t sound overdone and is a powerful way to end an excellent album. I’m very happy to hear something of such quality coming from my old town of Recife, where I grew up and was able to have some killer experiences in death metal and black metal.

If you have the opportunity to hear this work, don’t waste it. Go out and get the album. The final production is really good, both in terms of recording and graphics. The copy I bought is a very well-made digipack
