VOLKMORT – Fallen in the Bloody Field (2023)

Depois do aclamado “Battle Desolation” de 2019, os doomers de Timbó, Santa Catarina chegam ao seu segundo álbum, de estúdio “Fallen In The Bloody Field”. Esse trabalho é uma obra que vai fazer alegria dos maníacos e cultuadores do metal da morte. O play já abre com todo o peso e desolação da faixa “Cold Winds”. Guitarras arrastadas e carregadas de peso, fúria e desespero. Nesta primeira faixa já notamos que a banda está mais voltada ao death metal tradicional e com aquela veia old school.

“Returning to the Bloody Field” tem um riff e um andamento de bateria que lembra o velho My Dying Bride e quando entra o vocal cavernoso de “Dunkel Traum” a música ganha um ar aterrorizante, mórbido, sinistro e mesclando momentos cadenciados e partes rápidas.  “Doomology of War”, faixa que a banda já tinha divulgado em suas redes sociais, como single. É outra música de puro desespero com uma aura meio dark metal e um clima do desgraçado e maléfico dos alemães do Bethlehem. Sem dúvida os vocais e a interpretação de Dunkel Traum é o destaque dessa música. Outra coisa que precisa destacar é a qualidade da produção desse disco. Sem dúvida alguma, deixou tudo na cara e com aquele clima sujo, moderno e limpo sem parecer artificial. 

Outra faixa que a banda já tinha divulgado e que ganhou um belo videoclipe é “Triumphus Mortis”. Death metal com aquela pegada mórbida surge triunfante e com um refrão matador “triumphuuuss Mortisss” ! Tudo é escuro e desolador, guitarras pesadas, bases poderosas, baixo moendo tudo e bateria mesclando batidas secas, morbidez e blast beats. Esse vocal cavernoso e desesperado é uma ode para a morte amada, amada morte!

“Black Grave” já é uma faixa mais direta de puro death metal no seu início e os trabalhos de guitarras é um pouco mais simples, primitivo e tem um clima de Celtic Frost/Hellhammer.

Com  bases pesadas e uma densidade obscura. A penúltima faixa “From Glory to Abyss” é outra faixa com aquele clima que já é típico do Volkmort mesclando partes death metal e doom metal. É um horror puro! Agonia e desespero. O baixo nessa música aparece com fúria e peso, segurando os graves. Aliás, essa cozinha formada por Deathos baixista e Sepulchral na bateria está afiadíssima. 

Fechando esse grandioso trabalho, a última faixa “No Hope, No Life” começa com uma base poderosa do guitarrista Necro Abhorrence que, aliás, vale ressaltar, só enriqueceu e adicionou uma grande identidade nas composições da banda.  Essa música mata toda a esperança que existe e não existe vida, só a morte é real. Um clima fúnebre com atmosfera carregada encerra esse trabalho magnífico. Sem dúvida esse trabalho do Volkmort está mais na linha death metal, deixaram as partes mais doom metal de lado, o doom está ali, mais de canto, e com ótimos trabalhos de guitarras, com riffs e bases trabalhadas. Um baixo sempre pulsante e uma bateria que sabe usar o peso, a técnica, velocidade na hora que a música pede. Outro destaque é que criou uma nova aura mais perversa e maligna para as novas músicas é a interpretação do vocalista Dunkel Traum de todos os trabalhos dele já gravado com a banda, aqui ele encontrou sua identidade e fez toda a diferença neste trabalho. A banda também trouxe novos elementos para suas composições e influências como os já citados Bethlehem, Celtic Frost e Hellhammer e isso acrescentou muito na qualidade de suas músicas.

Outro destaque é a produção de Kleber Hora que também fez a diferença. Mixagem/ Masterização feita no Studio Dark Paradise, em São Paulo. Tudo neste trabalho é um passo à frente, uma evolução na caminhada da banda. A bela arte feita pelo artista Fadli (Yandema Art).

Esse é o primeiro trabalho da banda que não saiu independente e contou com o apoio do batalhador Fernando Camacho, do selo Black Hole de Joinville. Com certeza, “Fallen In The Bloody Field” surpreenderá os amantes do death metal nacional e o Volkmort dará um grande passo na sua história. Caímos no campo sangrento, mas jamais sem lutar! Vamos espalhar o caos e o metal da morte pelo submundo.

After the acclaimed “Battle Desolation” of 2019, the doomers from Timbó, Santa Catarina arrive at their second studio album “Fallen In The Bloody Field“. This work is a work that will make the maniacs and cultists of death metal happy. The play already opens with all the weight and desolation of the track “Cold Winds”. Guitars dragged and loaded with weight, fury and despair. In this first track we already notice that the band is more focused on traditional death metal and with that old school vein.

“Returning to the Bloody Field” has a riff and a drum beat reminiscent of the old My Dying Bride and when the cavernous vocals of “Dunkel Traum” enter the song gains a terrifying, morbid, sinister air and mixes cadenced moments and fast parts.  “Doomology of War”, a track that the band had already released on their social networks, as a single. It is another song of pure despair with a dark metal aura and a doom and evil atmosphere of the Germans of Bethlehem. No doubt the vocals and the interpretation of Dunkel Traum is the highlight of this song. Another thing that needs to be highlighted is the quality of the production of this disc. Without a doubt, it left everything in the face and with that dirty, modern and clean atmosphere without seeming artificial.

Another track that the band had already released and that won a beautiful video clip is “Triumphus Mortis”. Death metal with that morbid footprint emerges triumphant and with a killer chorus “Triumphuuuss Mortisss” ! Everything is dark and desolate, heavy guitars, powerful bases, bass grinding everything and drums mixing dry beats, morbidity and blast beats. This cavernous and desperate vocal is an ode to death, beloved, beloved death!

“Black Grave” is already a more direct track of pure death metal in its beginning and the guitar work is a little simpler, primitive and has a Celtic Frost / Hellhammer atmosphere. With heavy bases and a dark density. The penultimate track “From Glory to Abyss” is another track with that climate that is already typical of Volkmort mixing parts death metal and doom metal. It is pure horror! Agony and despair. The bass in this song appears with fury and weight, holding the bass. In fact, this kitchen formed by Deathos bassist and Sepulchral on drums is very sharp.

Closing this great work, the last track “No Hope, No Life” begins with a powerful base of the guitarist Necro Abhorrence that, by the way, it is worth mentioning, only enriched and added a great identity in the band’s compositions.  This song kills all the hope that exists and there is no life, only death is real. A funereal mood with a charged atmosphere closes this magnificent work. No doubt this work of Volkmort is more in the death metal line, they left the more doom metal parts aside, the doom is there, more of singing, and with great guitar work, with riffs and worked bases. A bass always pulsating and a drums that knows how to use the weight, the technique, speed at the time the song asks for.

Another highlight is that it created a new more perverse and evil aura for the new songs is the interpretation of the vocalist Dunkel Traum of all his works already recorded with the band, here he found his identity and made all the difference in this work. The band also brought new elements to their compositions and influences such as the aforementioned Bethlehem, Celtic Frost and Hellhammer and this added a lot to the quality of their songs.

Another highlight is the production of Kleber Hora that also made the difference. Mixing / Mastering done at Studio Dark Paradise, in São Paulo. Everything in this work is a step forward, an evolution in the band’s journey. The beautiful art made by the artist Fadli (Yandema Art) This is the first work of the band that did not come out independently and had the support of the battler Fernando Camacho, from the Black Hole label in Joinville. For sure, “Fallen In The Bloody Field” will surprise the lovers of national death metal and Volkmort will take a big step in its history. We fell in the bloody field, but never without fighting! Let’s spread chaos and death metal through the underworld.
