PISSGRAVE – Malignant Worthlessness (CD 2025)

Tenho visto muito gente compartilhando uma frase que diz “faça o metal ofensivo novamente” e concordo totalmente com isso. Há muito tempo que entendi que esse estilo não foi feito para as massas, não foi feito para ser abraçado pela mídia mainstream e muito menos para soar bonito e fofo. O metal é o puro retrato de tudo aquilo que é mais feio, degradante e ofensivo, mas transformado em arte. A contracultura em seu estado puro. Esse novo álbum do PISSGRAVE atende todos esses requisitos e se empenha para entregar podridão e brutalidade unidos em um mesmo pacote.

“Malignant Worthlesness” tem nove músicas e todas elas sem exceção te arrastam por uma caminho de violência musical e crueza próprias do metal extremo. Quem precisa de mais ? É isso aqui que ajuda a embalar as noites entendiantes dessa existência. Não é bonito, não é agradável. Foi concebido para espalhar podridão por todos os lados, deixando o ambiente tomado pelo fedor nauseabundo.

Todas as composições aqui são sujas, mas há muita qualidade de composição e arranjos nas camadas internas de cada música. A devastação é única quando “In Heretic Blood Christened” explode nos seus ouvidos. As guitarras são afiadas e a bateria não dá descanso. O caos continua em “Three Degrees of Darkness”, que possui partes mais cadenciadas mas até mesmo nessas partes tudo soa puramente como uma hecatombe.

A faixa título não perde a imundície e adiciona uma abordagem mais técnica nos arranjos de guitarra. Riffs gélidos e cheios de maldade são o ponto alto dessa música. “Heaping Pile of Electrified Gore” é uma das melhores aqui, principalmente pela selvageria vomitada pelos instrumentos. Blast beats destruidores e uma vocalização terrivelmente imunda. Isso é poesia para os ouvidos que a entendem. Achei que em muitos momentos temos aqui e ali uma influência do brutal death metal dos anos 90, como bandas brasileiras como Krisiun, Rebaelliun, entre outras.

A dissonância é a alma de “Dissident Amputator”. Ela inicia a música e rege como uma maestrina da brutalidade. Música com sonoridades mais intensas e muito peso. Outra música a ser destacada é a maléfica “Interment Orgy”, que tem algo de Deicide e Hate Eternal em sua essência. Mas tudo aqui soa como PISSGRAVE e isso é o melhor.

“Ignominy of Putrefaction” é quase esquizofrênica na forma como suas guitarras são executadas e suas ideas apresentadas. É uma música complexa, mas ainda assim carrega uma atmosfera mais obscura. Tudo vem abaixo novamente quando “Lamentation of Weeping Wounds”. Música rápida e com um feeling carregado de escuridão, como o Morbid Angel fazia em suas composições mais lentas.

Fechando o álbum vem outra pedrada intitulada “Mystical Obscenities”, que mantém a intensidade que é apresentada em todo o álbum. A produção desse novo lançamento é muito boa e garante que toda a podridão seja compreendia com facilidade. “Malignant Worthlessness” é definitivamente um degrau acima em termos de composição e qualidade em relação ao álbum anterior. Aqui a violência musical é garantida.

I’ve seen a lot of people sharing a phrase that says “make metal offensive again” and I totally agree with that. I’ve long understood that this style wasn’t made for the masses, it wasn’t made to be embraced by the mainstream media, and it wasn’t made to sound cute and cuddly. Metal is the pure portrait of everything that is most ugly, degrading and offensive, but transformed into art. Counterculture in its purest state. This new PISSGRAVE album meets all these requirements and strives to deliver rot and brutality in one package.

“Malignant Worthlessness” has nine songs and all of them without exception drag you down a path of musical violence and rawness typical of extreme metal. Who needs more? This is what helps to lull you through the boring nights of this existence. It’s not pretty, it’s not pleasant. It’s designed to spread rot everywhere, leaving the atmosphere filled with a nauseating stench.

All the compositions here are dirty, but there’s a lot of quality in the songwriting and arrangements in the inner layers of each song. The devastation is unique when “In Heretic Blood Christened” explodes in your ears. The guitars are razor-sharp and the drums are relentless. The chaos continues in “Three Degrees of Darkness”, which has slower parts but even in these parts everything sounds purely like a hecatomb.

The title track doesn’t lose the filth and adds a more technical approach to the guitar arrangements. Icy riffs full of evil are the highlight of this song. “Heaping Pile of Electrified Gore” is one of the best here, mainly because of the savagery spewed out by the instruments. Destructive blast beats and terribly filthy vocals. This is poetry to the ears that understand it. I found that at many points there was an influence from the brutal death metal of the 90s, such as Brazilian bands like Krisiun and Rebaelliun, among others.

Dissonance is the soul of “Dissident Amputator”. It starts the song and rules like a maestro of brutality. It’s a song with more intense sounds and a lot of weight. Another song to highlight is the evil “Interment Orgy”, which has something of Deicide and Hate Eternal in its essence. But everything here sounds like PISSGRAVE and that’s the best thing about it.

“Ignominy of Putrefaction” is almost schizophrenic in the way its guitars are played and its ideas presented. It’s a complex song, but it still carries a darker atmosphere. Everything comes crashing down again when “Lamentation of Weeping Wounds” comes on. It’s a fast song with a dark feeling, just like Morbid Angel did in their slower compositions.

Closing the album is another stonker called “Mystical Obscenities”, which maintains the intensity that is presented throughout the album. The production on this new release is very good and ensures that all the rot is easily understood. “Malignant Worthlessness” is definitely a step up in terms of composition and quality from the previous album. Musical violence is guaranteed here.
