Considerando a fundação da banda em 2015, o NORDJEVEL já percorreu uma trilha e tanto pelos nove círculos infernais do Black Metal Norueguês. Ano passado, eles chamaram minha atenção com um EP devastador de nome “Fenriir”, resenhado em julho/21 com nota máxima.
A formação experiente e estelar ganhou entrosamento, e “Doedsadmiral” (fundador, vocalista – HORDE OF HELL, SVARTELDER), “Destructhor” (Guitarras – MYRKSKOG, ex-ZYKLON e ex-MORBID ANGEL), “DezeptiCunt” (Baixo – ex-RAGNAROK) e “Nils Dominator” (Bateria – 1349, ex-DARK FUNERAL) lançaram em setembro passado seu terceiro e melhor álbum de estúdio até aqui, o excelente “Gnavhòl”.
A impressão inicial, ao conferir o tracklist do álbum, foi de que a coisa toda poderia ficar maçante, já que são 10 faixas totalizando quase uma hora de duração. Mas os caras souberam dosar bem a velocidade absurda que caracteriza suas composições, mesclando melodias diabólicas cirurgicamente, e investindo na variação das linhas de bateria.
Toda fúria, sede de sangue e precisão sobrenatural do quarteto podem ser conferidos logo na abertura, com “I djevelens skygge”, norueguês para algo como “Sob a sombra do diabo”. Os blasts impressionantes de “Dominator” são destaque, rivalizando apenas com os riffs e leads matadores de “Destruchtor”.
“Of Rats and Men” é uma das músicas de trabalho do disco, foi divulgada antecipadamente e ganhou um vídeo. Pesada e veloz ao extremo, tal qual sua antecessora. A banda sabe recorrer com maestria às desacelerações, caprichando na atmosfera blasfema ultra carregada. É isso que também cativa em “Satan’s Manifest”.
Uma das melhores músicas do trabalho é psicótica e virulenta “Within The Eyes”. Construída com riffs primorosos, acelerações brutais e intervenções melódicas sutis e decisivas. A faixa título “Gnavhòl” é exceção, com início mais lento e sombrio, passagens ritualísticas e trampo notável do vocal “Doedsadmiral”.
A segunda metade do Play mergulha em bestialidade e caos com a dupla “Antichrist Flesh” e “Spores of Gnosis”, esta última impecável tecnicamente e totalmente brutal. A agressão excruciante de “Gnawing the Bones” hipnotiza o ouvinte, preparando-o para a épica “Endritual” e sua jornada (um pouco enfadonha, de fato) de quase 10 minutos.
O álbum chega ao final com “Twisted Psychosis”, de excepcionais riffs em tremolo e variações providenciais na percussão.
Excelente álbum do NORDJEVEL. A experiência sensorial é alucinante, assemelha-se a uma longa volta numa montanha russa antiga (daquelas de madeira, com seus estalos aterrorizantes), em velocidade máxima e sem cinto de segurança, tendo como pano de fundo o próprio Tártaro e seus mais diversos horrores.
Trabalho altamente recomendável aos fãs de Black Metal Escandinavo calcado na velocidade, nos moldes de 1349 (NOR), DARK FUNERAL (SUE), MARDUK (SUE) antigo, TSJUDER (NOR), SETHERIAL (SUE), IMMORTAL (NOR) antigo.

Considering the band’s establishment in 2015, NORDJEVEL have already covered a long way through the nine hellish circles of Norwegian Black Metal. Last year, they caught my attention with a devastating EP called “Fenriir”, reviewed in July/21 with a 10/10 rating.
The experienced and stellar lineup gained muscles and chemistry, and “Doedsadmiral” (founder, vocalist – HORDE OF HELL, SVARTELDER), “Destructhor” (Guitars – MYRKSKOG, ex-ZYKLON and ex-MORBID ANGEL), “DezeptiCunt” (Bass – ex- RAGNAROK) and “Nils Dominator” (Drums – 1349, ex-DARK FUNERAL) released last September their third and best studio album to date, the excellent “Gnavhòl”.
The initial impression, when checking the album’s tracklist, was that the whole thing could get boring, as there are 10 tracks totaling almost an hour. But they were able to dose well the absurd speed that characterizes their compositions, surgically mixing diabolical melodies, and investing in a variety of drum lines.
All the fury, bloodlust and supernatural precision of the quartet can be checked right in the opening act “I djevelens skygge”, Norwegian for something like “Under the devil’s shadow”. The impressive blasts by “Dominator” are a highlight, rivaled only by the killer riffs and leads by “Destruchtor”.
“Of Rats and Men” is one of the album’s singles, released in advance with a video. Absurdly heavy and fast, just like its predecessor. The band knows how to use decelerations with mastery, taking care of the massively charged, blasphemous atmosphere. This is what also captivates in “Satan’s Manifest”.
One of the record’s best songs is the psychotic and virulent “Within The Eyes”. Built with exquisite riffs, brutal accelerations, and subtle and decisive melodic interventions. The title track “Gnavhòl” is an exception, with a slower and darker start, ritualistic passages, and a notable vocal performance by “Doedsadmiral”.
The album’s second half plunges into bestiality and mayhem with the duo “Antichrist Flesh” and “Spores of Gnosis”, the latter technically impeccable and utterly brutal. The excruciating aggression of “Gnawing the Bones” mesmerizes the listener, laying the groundwork for the epic “Endritual” and its (a bit tedious, in fact) journey of nearly 10 minutes.
The album ends with “Twisted Psychosis”, with exceptional tremolo riffs and providential drumming variations.
Excellent NORDJEVEL new album. The whole experience is mind-boggling, it resembles a long ride on an old roller coaster (those wooden ones, with their terrifying crackles), at full speed and devoid of a proper seat belt, with Tartarus itself and its most profound horrors as a backdrop.
Definitely recommended for fans of fast paced Scandinavian Black Metal, along the lines of 1349 (NOR), DARK FUNERAL (SWE), old MARDUK (SWE), TSJUDER (NOR), SETHERIAL (SWE), old IMMORTAL (NOR).
