GUEPPARDO – Power Lines (2023)

A banda gaúcha GUEPPARDO acaba de lançar seu novo álbum, “Power Lines”, que está disponível em todas as plataformas digitais e em breve ganhará uma edição física em CD e também em vinil pelo selo paulista Classic Metal. Esse é o quarto trabalho dos gaúchos. Os dois primeiros discos eram mais voltados ao Hard ‘n’ Heavy e com letras em português: “Fronteira Final” e “Execução Sumária”.

Em 2021 a banda teve trocas de integrantes e inclusive de vocalista e lançaram um disco que foi bem aceito pela mídia especializada e apreciadores da banda. “I Am The Law” era mais na linha Hard Rock, trabalhado, pesado e apostando em músicas em inglês.

Acabaram de lançar “Power Lines”, que disco maravilhoso! Apostando em um Heavy Metal com guitarras muito trabalhadas, pesadas e com certeza que a troca de idioma do português para o inglês fez toda a diferença. Se em “I Am The Law” eles tiveram uma mudança para melhor, em “Power Lines” tudo ficou muito, muito melhor!

O álbum já abre com a faixa “Dare to Live” e com uma pegada bem trabalhada e o destaque é o vocal de Thiago Gutierres cheio de melodia, técnica apurada e feeling. E uns teclados com um clima progressivo/ metal e com um solo de guitarra matador de Pery Rodrigues.

“Power Lines” que dá nome ao trabalho, é mais rápido um power Speed metal matador. “Sands of Destiny” e “In the Shadows of the Night” são rápidas e empolgantes. Quando você vê, está batendo cabeça e cantando a música, e levando os punhos para cima. Um Heavy Metal clássico e com belas melodias de guitarras, riffs e solos muito bons.

“Interlude” é uma bela instrumental para relaxar. A próxima faixa e “Farewell” com uma pegada mais direta e onde o baterista Diego Pereira tem uma pegada muito foda com técnica e precisão, e viradas poderosas. 

A sétima faixa é “Blind Faith”, outra música muito boa. Um pouco mais cadenciada. O grande destaque são os solos de Pery que é um exímio guitarrista e o vocalista Thiago dá uns agudos cheios de sentimentos e sem ser chato, como alguns fazem por aí.

Vale destacar a produção deste trabalho que está muito bem gravado e produzido. Esse trabalho foi gravado no estúdio Hurricane e produzido por Sebastian Corsin que já tinha gravado o último trabalho e Pery Rodrigues também estava atrás dos botões. E de certa forma, essa parceria com Corsin fez a Gueppardo ter uma identidade. Como se diz por aí, não se mexe em time que está ganhando, não é verdade!?

A próxima música “Invisible Chains” é um Heavy Metal que resgata o espírito da N.W.B.H.M e com refrões poderosos. 

“Another Rebel Down” é uma música que a banda divulgou bastante antes de lançar o disco, já que ela ganhou um videoclipe muito bem produzido e que encontra – se no YouTube. É interessante a temática que encontra nesse trabalho voltada para temas sociais, guerras, realidade atual e distópica. 

Fechando o disco com a faixa “Under the Curtain” é outra música onde todos os músicos gravaram uma grandiosa música. É absurdo o nível desses profissionais do Heavy Metal. “Power Lines” é um álbum de Heavy Metal com algumas influências aqui e ali de Hard Rock e com belas melodias de guitarras, solos cheios de técnica, bateria e baixo poderosos e um vocal magnífico! A capa tem referência para um mundo distópico em cores, azul feita pelo artista paranaense Jean Michel que inclusive já fez capas para Queensryche, Metal Church e Vixen.

Se você gosta daquele Heavy Metal mais técnico, com belas melodias, vocais cheio de feeling e agudos, mas sem soar demasiado chato, e sem paixão, com belos riffs, peso, solos e bases de guitarras bem executados, e também bandas como: Rata Blanca, Yngwie Malmsteen e Deep Purple, certeza que “Power Lines” dos gaúchos do Gueppardo vai te deixar com um sorriso no rosto.

The band from Rio Grande do Sul (a Southern Brazilian State), GUEPPARDO, has just released its new album, “Power Lines”, which is available on all digital platforms and will soon gain a physical edition on CD and also on vinyl by the São Paulo label Classic Metal. This is the fourth work of these guys. The first two discs were more focused on Hard ‘n’ Heavy and with lyrics in Portuguese. “Final Frontier and Summary Execution”.

In 2021 the band had changes of members and even vocalist and released an album that was well accepted by the specialised media and band lovers. “I Am The Law” was more in the Hard Rock line, worked, heavy and betting on songs in English.

They just released “Power Lines” and… what a wonderful album! Betting on a Heavy Metal with very classy guitars, heavy and certainly that the change of language from Portuguese to English made all the difference. If in “I Am The Law” they had a change for the better, in “Power Lines” everything was much, much better!

The album opens with the track “Dare to Live” and with a well worked footprint and the highlight is the vocal of Thiago Gutierres full of melody, refined technique and feeling. And some keyboards with a progressive / metal climate and with a killer guitar solo by Pery Rodrigues.

“Power Lines”, which gives its name to the work, is a faster, killer power speed metal. “Sands of Destiny” and “In the Shadows of the Night” are fast and exciting. Before you know it, you’re banging your head and singing along to the song, and pumping your fists. Classic heavy metal with beautiful guitar melodies, riffs and solos.

“Interlude” is a nice instrumental to relax to. The next track is “Farewell” with a more direct approach and where the drummer Diego Pereira has a very fucked up approach with technique and precision, and powerful turns. The seventh track is “Blind Faith”, another very good song. A bit more slow. The great highlight is the solos of Pery who is an excellent guitarist and the vocalist Thiago gives a treble full of feelings and without being boring, as some do out there.

It is worth highlighting the production of this work that is very well recorded and produced. This work was recorded at Hurricane Studio and produced by Sebastian Corsin who had already recorded the last work and Pery Rodrigues was also behind the buttons. And in a way, this partnership with Corsin made Gueppardo have an identity. As they say, you don’t mess with a winning team, do you?

The next song “Invisible Chains” is a Heavy Metal that rescues the spirit of N.W.B.H.M and with powerful choruses.

“Another Rebel Down” is a song that the band released a lot before releasing the disc, since it won a very well produced video clip and that is on YouTube. It is interesting the theme that finds in this work focused on social themes, wars, current and dystopian reality.

Closing the album with the track “Under the Curtain”, it is another song where all the musicians recorded a great song. It is absurd the level of these Heavy Metal professionals. “Power Lines” is a Heavy Metal album with some influences here and there of Hard Rock and with beautiful guitar melodies, solos full of technique, powerful drums and bass and a magnificent vocal! The cover has reference to a dystopian world in colours, blue made by the artist Jean Michel from Paraná who has already made covers for Queensryche, Metal Church and Vixen.

If you like that more technical Heavy Metal, with beautiful melodies, vocals full of feeling and treble, but without sounding too boring, and without passion, with beautiful riffs, weight, solos and guitar bases well executed, and also bands like: Rata Blanca, Yngwie Malmsteen and Deep Purple, sure that “Power Lines” by Gueppardo will leave you with a smile on your face.
