Dentre os lançamentos ansiosamente aguardados pelas fiéis legiões e autênticos guardiões do caminho da mão esquerda, o segundo registro completo de estúdio dos demônios alemães BAXAXAXA está previsto para o início de Setembro em CDs, Discos de Vinil e Fitas Cassete pelo selo finlandês “The Sinister Flame”.
Caso não os conheça, saiba que a banda é um dos pilares do Black Metal alemão, fundada em 1992 e intimamente ligada a outra lenda germânica (UNGOD), com quem divide membros. Foi responsável pela infame Demo “Hellfire”, que saiu no mesmo ano. Após longo hiato, a entidade ressurgiu em 2018 e celebrou seu renascimento participando do respeitadíssimo “Destroying Texas Fest”, sediado em Houston/EUA.
Os anos seguintes testemunharam a gênese de outra Demo (The Old Evil, 2019), um EP (Devoted to Him, 2020) e do primeiro álbum de estúdio, o reverenciado “Catacomb Cult” de 2021.
No novo trabalho, nota-se a preservação integral da essência arcaica, ritualística e profundamente blasfema da sonoridade da banda. A produção ficou excelente, garantindo robustez aos instrumentos e vocal sem renunciar à atmosfera crua e ríspida, típica dos registros do quinteto.
Épica e marcante, a peça de abertura “Seed of Golgotha” cativa de cara com o crescendo doentio proporcionado por teclados, baixo, guitarras e bateria (nesta ordem), arrebatado pelos vocais odiosos e perturbadores de “Traumatic”. Aula implacável de Black Metal Germânico.
“De Vermis Mysteriis” é uma perfeita representante do Black Metal primitivo e bestial, cercado por uma impenetrável aura ritualística. Viciante com seu ritmo majoritariamente médio, o tipo de faixa que pede repetidas audições. O desgraçamento aprofunda-se com a excepcional “Kiss of Shame”, veloz e pungente. Em suas partes menos velozes, os teclados conferem um show particular.
A monumental “Awaken, The Old Thing in the Ground” se impõe, do alto de seus oito minutos, arrastando-se com sua magnífica pegada Doom e utilizando sua atmosfera aterradora e hipnótica para lançar o ouvinte ao mais profundo e obscuro abismo. Estupenda!
A essa altura, “Above the Stellar Gateway” emenda outra experiência sensorial das mais funestas e ortodoxas. Os riffs, sempre sólidos e cortantes, são intensificados pelos bem postados e criativos teclados.
A sexta faixa “Decarnation Monument” funciona como um interlúdio, mesclando vocalizações ultra insanas e desconcertantes, com efeitos sonoros diversos. O monstruoso encerramento com “Necrolatry Libation” é banhado em tormento e angústia. O ritmo moroso impera, pontualmente desconstruído por acelerações bem sacadas e vibrantes.
Um memorável sucessor para o álbum de estreia, “De Vermis Mysteriis” é uma obra idealmente voltada aos leais conhecedores e apreciadores do verdadeiro Black Metal, mas deverá agradar igualmente aos novatos ainda em busca por iluminação rumo às artes ocultas.

German demons BAXAXAXA’s sophomore album is one of the most anticipated releases among the truest of legions and darkest guardians of the left hand path. “De Vermis Mysteriis” is expected to be unleashed upon mankind on early September by Finnish label “The Sinister Flame” in CDs, Vinyl records and cassette tapes.
In case you don’t know them, fix this immediately. The band is one of the pillars of early Teutonic Black Metal alongside its evil twin UNGOD, with whom they share bandmembers. These hellish deities started spreading the plague in 1992, when the “Hellfire” demo came out. After a long and mysterious hiatus, the entity reemerged from the chasm in 2018 and celebrated its rebirth playing the prominent “Destroying Texas Fest”, held in Houston (USA).
The following years witnessed the genesis of a second Demo in 2019 (The Old Evil), an EP in 2020 (Devoted to Him) and their long-awaited debut studio album in 2021, the revered “Catacomb Cult”.
The new Opus is a worthy sophomore, as the archaic, ritualistic, and deeply blasphemous essence is thoroughly preserved. Production is on point, perfectly suitable for such an evil sounding record. Instruments and vocals sound both potent, yet the raw, ominous, harsh atmosphere remains unspoiled.
Epic and striking, the opening act “Seed of Golgotha” easily enthralls the listener with a macabre crescendo provided by keys, bass, guitars and drums (in this exact order), later bound by the unsettling vocals by “Traumatic”. A terrifying, ruthless masterclass in German Black Metal.
“De Vermis Mysteriis” is a perfect sample of primitive, bestial Black Metal, surrounded by an impenetrable, ritualistic aura. Addictive with its predominant medium pace, the kind of track that commands repeated plays. Spiraling further down towards damnation, the exceptional “Kiss of Shame” takes no prisoners. Mostly fast-paced and pungent, it also highlights slower segments filled with imposing keyboards.
Monumental “Awaken, The Old Thing in the Ground” towers above eight minutes, dragging itself like a nameless, deadly horror under magnificent Doom-laden segments. Its hypnotic, dreadful atmosphere casts the listener into the darkest of dimensions. Stupendous track.
At this point, “Above the Stellar Gateway” offers another otherworldly sensorial experience, a most dismal and orthodox one. The riffs, always solid and razor-sharp, are intensified by well-placed keys.
Sixth hymn “Decarnation Monument” is actually an interlude, mixing highly insane vocalizations with diverse sound effects. It works as a gateway to the monstrous closure represented by “Necrolatry Libation”. The final act seems bathed in torment and anguish. The sluggish tempo prevails, occasionally deconstructed by flavorful, vibrant accelerations.
A memorable sophomore album, “De Vermis Mysteriis” is a record that should appeal both to the faithful connoisseurs, disciples of true Black Metal, as well as newcomers looking for torches to light their way towards the dark arts.
Imperative acquisition for those into the likes of UNGOD (GER), early SAMAEL (CH), VARATHRON (GR), MYSTIFIER (BRA), BLACK ALTAR (POL), NAGELFAR (GER), KATHARSIS (GER).
