O novo trabalho dos brasileiros do FOSSILIZATION só será lançado em Fevereiro de 2026, mas posso adiantar que, possivelmente, será o melhor álbum de metal extremo brasileiro do próximo ano. A evolução musical que a banda vem sofrendo é realmente impactante. O death metal executado aqui é do mais alto nível, pesadíssimo, cheio de maldade e com um feeling gigantesco, o que proporciona uma audição poderosa ao ouvinte.
O nível de brutalidade do FOSSILIZATION nesse seu novo álbum foi colocado em outro patamar e não se trata de brutalidade gratuita ou algo que soe bagunçado como muitas bandas do estilo acabam soando. Há um equilíbrio entre músicas e partes realmente rápidas e intensas e outras que embarcam em uma viagem dissonante e cheia de detalhes que exigem uma audição mais cuidadosa.
Ao abrir o álbum, a faixa “Cremation of a Seraph” libera todo o ódio contido na composição de uma só vez. É uma música ríspida e direta, sem muito espaço para nada, a não ser caos. O vocal é um destaque e realmente está matador. Os riffs se impõem a cada instante. Em alguns momentos o som ganha características mais complexas e me lembrou um pouco o Immolation. Grande cartão de visitas que calará a boca de qualquer um que duvide do que o FOSSILIZATION é capaz de fazer.
Na sequência “Disemtomb and Reassembled by the Ages” não tira o pé do acelerador e continua chicoteando os ouvidos mais delicados. O riff principal que abre a música tem algo meio oriental e é muito bom, uma pegada que transita entre Nile e Behemoth em termos de impacto, peso e velocidade.. Os riffs mais carregados de maldade são incríveis e criam uma atmosfera de opressão envolvente.
Vale salientar que em momento algum as coisas se tornam simplórias. Esse é um álbum com uma dose alta de complexidade e técnica. É possível perceber o quanto a banda evoluiu nesses últimos dois ou três anos, culminando em um álbum muito maduro do ponto de vista da composição.
“Scalded by His Sacred Halo” traz essa complexidade citada e adiciona um andamento mais cadenciado, dissonante e muito pesado. A atmosfera que vai sendo crriada é poderosa e mesmo quando a bateria é acelerada à velocidade da luz, isso não se perde. Na sequência vem “Terrestrial Mold” que joga tudo abismo abaixo mais uma vez com um início realmente brutal, guiado por um riff frio e seco, mas que ainda traz uma melodia fantasmagórica.
“Servo” é quase apocalíptica. Se inicia com trombetas tocando e convocando hordas cobertas em aço e sedentas por sangue e morte. E a carnificina toma conta do ambiente do início ao fim dessa música. As duas últimas faixas são “While the Light Lasts” e “Temple of Flies and Moss”, duas pedradas que mesclam bem peso e brutalidade, sendo a segundo faixa uma das que mais gostei nesse álbum.
O FOSSILIZATION mostra nesse novo trabalho que está mais do que pronta para levar o seu trabalho mundo afora. A produção é excelente, a arte da capa é algo que chama a atenção logo de início e com certeza será um dos melhores álbuns de death metal nacional em 2026 ! Na minha lista pessoal ele já está.
Agora resta torcer para que o álbum ganhe uma versão brasileira, pois os death metal maníacos do Brasil precisam ouvir algo feito com esse nível de qualidade.

The new effort from Brazil’s FOSSILIZATION will only be released in February 2026, but I can already say that it will most likely be the best Brazilian extreme metal album of next year. The musical evolution the band has been going through is truly striking. The death metal performed here is of the highest level—crushingly heavy, full of malice, and with a gigantic sense of feeling, which results in a powerful listening experience.
The level of brutality FOSSILIZATION reaches on this new album has been taken to another tier, and this is not gratuitous brutality or something that sounds messy, as many bands in the genre often do. There is a balance between songs and sections that are truly fast and intense, and others that embark on a dissonant, detail-laden journey that demands a more attentive listen.
Opening the album, the track “Cremation of a Seraph” unleashes all the hatred contained in the composition at once. It is a harsh and direct song, with little room for anything other than chaos. The vocals are a standout and are absolutely killer. The riffs assert themselves at every moment. At times the sound takes on more complex characteristics and reminded me a bit of Immolation. A great calling card that will shut up anyone who doubts what FOSSILIZATION is capable of.
Next up, “Disemtomb and Reassembled by the Ages” doesn’t let off the gas and continues to lash more delicate ears. The main riff that opens the track has a somewhat oriental feel and is excellent—a vibe that moves between Nile and Behemoth in terms of impact, weight, and speed. The more malicious, oppressive riffs are incredible and create an enveloping atmosphere of suffocation.
It is worth emphasizing that at no point do things become simplistic. This is an album with a high dose of complexity and technique. You can clearly hear how much the band has evolved over the last two or three years, culminating in a very mature album from a compositional standpoint.
“Scalded by His Sacred Halo” brings this aforementioned complexity and adds a more mid-paced, dissonant, and extremely heavy approach. The atmosphere that is gradually built is powerful, and even when the drums accelerate to the speed of light, none of that is lost. This is followed by “Terrestrial Mold”, which once again hurls everything into the abyss with a truly brutal opening, driven by a cold, dry riff that still carries a ghostly melody.
“Servo” is almost apocalyptic. It begins with trumpets sounding, summoning hordes clad in steel and hungry for blood and death, and the carnage takes over the environment from start to finish. The final two tracks are “While the Light Lasts” and “Temple of Flies and Moss”, two crushing blows that blend weight and brutality very well, with the latter being one of my favorite tracks on the album.
With this new work, FOSSILIZATION shows that it is more than ready to take its music to the world. The production is excellent, the cover art is immediately eye-catching, and it will certainly be one of the best national death metal albums of 2026. On my personal list, it already is.
Now all that remains is to hope the album gets a Brazilian edition, because Brazil’s death metal maniacs need to hear something made with this level of quality.
