Para um projeto que criou vida durante a pandemia, o GRAND CADAVER mostra uma maturidade e intensidade bastante evidentes. Obviamente que o pedigree dos seus membros concede à banda a autoridade mais do que comprovada de que a experiência é um grande diferencial.
Com membros e ex-membros de bandas como Dark Tranquility, Treblinka, Tiamat, Disrupted, Katatonia, entre outras, o GRAND CADAVER entrega nesse EP um trabalho sólido e totalmente calcado em um death metal pesado, com linhas melódicas que aproximam sua música do death metal sueco mais tradicional, mas tentando impor personalidade em cada música apresentada.
São quatro composições: “Blood Red Banner”, “The Rot Beneath”, “The Endless Dead” e “Darkened Apathy”.
Todas buscam apresentar o death metal com evidente peso e técnica. Riffs cortantes são intensos, alguns me lembrando os primórdios do Unleashed. Isso é bastante perceptível na faixa “The Rot Beneath”, uma das melhores desse trabalho.
Se você procura tradição até os ossos, “The Endless Dead” entrega isso com bastante folga. Em meio a todos os riffs e bases de guitarra você percebe uma preocupação melódica que ajuda a deixar o som do GRAND CADAVER mais contemporâneo.
Um pouco mais de velocidade vem na faixa que encerra esse EP. “Darkened Apathy” é uma excelente composição e mostra a qualidade do som do GRAND CADAVER.
Eu gostei muito do trabalho de arte de “The Rot Beneath” e é claro que boa música sem uma boa arte já sai perdendo. Felizmente esse não o caso.
“The Rot Beneath” é um excelente ponto de apoio para os fãs da banda enquanto aguardam por um novo álbum de estúdio.

For a project that came to life during the pandemic, GRAND CADAVER shows a maturity and intensity that is quite evident. Obviously, the pedigree of its members gives the band the proven authority that experience is a major differentiator.
With members and former members of bands such as Dark Tranquility, Treblinka, Tiamat, Disrupted, Katatonia, among others, GRAND CADAVER delivers a solid EP based entirely on heavy death metal, with melodic lines that bring their music closer to more traditional Swedish death metal, but trying to impose personality on each song presented.
There are four compositions: “Blood Red Banner”, “The Rot Beneath”, “The Endless Dead”, and “Darkened Apathy”.
All seek to present death metal with evident weight and technique. The cutting riffs are intense, some reminding me of the early days of Unleashed. This is quite noticeable in the track “The Rot Beneath” , one of the best on this work.
If you are looking for tradition to the bone, “The Endless Dead” delivers that with ease. Amidst all the riffs and guitar bases, you notice a melodic concern that helps make GRAND CADAVER‘s sound more contemporary.
A little more speed comes in the track that closes this EP. “Darkened Apathy” is an excellent composition and shows the quality of GRAND CADAVER‘s sound.
I really liked the artwork for “The Rot Beneath” and of course, good music without good artwork is already at a disadvantage. Fortunately, that’s not the case here.
“The Rot Beneath” is an excellent stepping stone for fans of the band while they wait for a new studio album.
