Nova banda do Mike Martinez, guitarrista com passagens por bandas da cena paraguaia, entre elas Overlord e The Force, ambas bandas de Thrash Metal. Ele apostou em uma nova banda que vai numa vibe mais Hard & Heavy Metal e com várias influências do Heavy Metal inglês do final dos 70 e início dos 80. A banda conta além de Mike, com Darío Aquino na guitarra e Monse Diamond, na bateria, e Arianna Cuenca, no baixo e vocal. Esse disco é maravilhoso, eu não paro de escutá-lo!
É um disco viciante até porque as músicas não são longas, ficam entre três ou quatro minutos, mas muito bem preenchido com belas melodias, solos de guitarras absurdos, peso e vocais maravilhosos! O disco abre com: Coming Home, Love Truth Freedom e Live for Today. Essa trinca já mostra que a banda não está para brincadeira. O som da Nigthbound é uma mistura perfeita entre melodias pegajosas do Hard Rock com o peso do Heavy Metal. Com os belos vocais de Arianna Cuenca que soam melodiosos com uma certa influência do pop rock e agressivo e poderoso como as grandes cantoras do blues.
A próxima faixa é Their Voice, no início é mais cadenciada e os vocais de Arianna aqui soam quase pop no início e depois cai numa pegada instrumental mais Hard Rock e meus amigos, com bases e solos de guitarras magníficos, cheio de sentimentos e feelings e bem executados e técnicos. Os hermanos paraguaios mandam: Polaris e The Fighting Never Ends. No início de Polaris tem um riff contagiante e pegajoso, que me lembrou o Stratovarius da fase do disco “Episode”(1996). A música vai crescendo, soando poderosa e um instrumental intrincado, todos os instrumentistas dão uma aula de como é sentir o poderoso Heavy Metal, não adianta ter técnica e não sentir o feeling, não ter o sentimento, não ter o metal na alma. Solos e riffs contagiantes, e um baixo que está ali dando o suporte, o peso e a técnica, além de uma bateria rápida e com uma pegada trabalhada e Monse Diamond, sabe encaixar batidas rápidas e tudo na medida que a música pede. The Fighting Never Ends, vai na mesma pegada. Mostrando que são músicos gabaritados e sabem o que estão fazendo. Refrões contagiantes, é uma música para cima!
A dupla de guitarristas sabe criar bases e riffs magníficos, pesados e melodiosos, que ficam na mente do ouvinte. Os caras beberam muito na fonte de Phil Lynott e o grande Thin Lizzy, e essa mistura de guitarras pesadas, mesclando com partes trabalhadas e mais melódicas, com a fúria das bandas inglesas que levaram à NWOBHM para mundo e influenciaram muitas bandas ao redor do mundo. Isso é Hard & Heavy para cantar junto com a vocalista Arianna e batendo cabeça e levantando os chifres para cima. Esse trabalho é esmagador é explosivo!
Fechando o disco, a banda não esqueceu suas raízes, de onde vieram e mandam duas músicas resgatando ás raízes dos povos originários e as raízes paraguaias. Arakuaávy é um instrumental poderoso e que esbanja técnica e bom gosto. Apesar de ser um instrumental, ser a música mais longa do disco, não é demasiada chata ou cheio de firulas. Mostra que todos são exímios musicistas, mas entregam só o que à música pede! É pesada, viajante, melódica e na metade da música tem mudanças de tempo que caem numa pegada Speed Metal. Uma pequena introdução: Arakuaávy, é uma palavra que se traduz como “Conhecimento do mundo” é um dialeto relacionado a língua guarani da tribo indígena Pai Tavytera, eles são intimamente relacionados aos Kaiowas no Brasil. Arakuaávy é a bíblia oral deles, a história em que os deuses criaram o universo a partir de sua voz, entoando uma melodia que aumentava de volume à medida que criava a Terra, as estrelas, a floresta e todos os seres vivos. E fechando esse grandioso trabalho a música,El viaje del héroe. Música cantada em espanhol e ficou muito boa mesmo. Mostrando como Arianna é uma vocalista muito versátil e técnica. A música é furiosa é melódica como todas as outras gravadas neste grandioso trabalho. Que fique claro: Nigthbound não é heavy melódico! Isso é Heavy Metal na veia!
A banda sabe misturar influências mais melódicas, com as raízes do metal tradicional e o peso do Rock N Roll sujo e visceral dos anos 70, com vocais maravilhosos e técnica apurada, e sem ser masturbação ou exibicionismo barato. New band from Mike Martinez, guitarist who has played with bands from the Paraguayan scene, including Overlord and The Force, both Thrash Metal bands. He has invested in a new band that has a more Hard ‘N’ Heavy Metal vibe and is heavily influenced by British Heavy Metal from the late 70s and early 80s. In addition to Mike, the band features Darío Aquino on guitar, Monse Diamond on drums, and Arianna Cuenca on bass and vocals. This album is wonderful, I can’t stop listening to it! It’s an addictive album, partly because the songs aren’t long, lasting between three and four minutes, but they are very well filled with beautiful melodies, absurd guitar solos, heaviness, and wonderful vocals!
The album opens with: Coming Home, Love Truth Freedom, and Live for Today. This trio already shows that the band means business. Nightbound’s sound is a perfect blend of catchy hard rock melodies and heavy metal heaviness. Arianna Cuenca’s beautiful vocals are melodious with a certain pop rock influence, yet aggressive and powerful like the great blues singers. The next track is Their Voice, which starts off more rhythmic, with Arianna’s vocals sounding almost pop at first, then falling into a more hard rock instrumental groove, my friends, with magnificent guitar bases and solos, full of feelings and emotions, and well executed and technical.
The Paraguayan brothers deliver: Polaris and The Fighting Never Ends. At the beginning of Polaris there is a contagious and catchy riff, which reminded me of Stratovarius from the “Episode” album (1996). The song grows, sounding powerful and with intricate instrumentation, all the musicians give a lesson on how to feel powerful Heavy Metal, it’s no use having technique and not feeling the feeling, not having the feeling, not having metal in your soul. Contagious solos and riffs, and a bass that provides support, weight, and technique, in addition to fast drums with a worked-out beat, and Monse Diamond knows how to fit fast beats and everything else as the song demands. The Fighting Never Ends follows the same beat.
Showing that they are skilled musicians and know what they are doing. Catchy choruses, it’s an upbeat song! The guitar duo knows how to create magnificent, heavy, and melodious bases and riffs that stay in the listener’s mind. The guys drank heavily from the fountain of Phil Lynott and the great Thin Lizzy, and this mix of heavy guitars, blending with elaborate and more melodic parts, with the fury of the English bands that brought NWOBHM to the world and influenced many bands around the world. This is Hard & Heavy to sing along with vocalist Arianna and bang your head and raise your horns. This work is overwhelming and explosive!
Closing the album, the band has not forgotten its roots, where they came from, and they send two songs rescuing the roots of the original peoples and the Paraguayan roots. Arakuaávy is a powerful instrumental that exudes technique and good taste. Despite being an instrumental and the longest song on the album, it is not overly boring or full of frills. It shows that they are all skilled musicians, but they deliver only what the music calls for! It is heavy, trippy, melodic, and halfway through the song there are tempo changes that fall into a Speed Metal groove. A brief introduction: Arakuaávy is a word that translates as “Knowledge of the world” and is a dialect related to the Guarani language of the Pai Tavytera indigenous tribe, who are closely related to the Kaiowas in Brazil. Arakuaávy is their oral bible, the story in which the gods created the universe from their voice, singing a melody that increased in volume as they created the Earth, the stars, the forest, and all living beings.
And closing this great work is the song El viaje del héroe. The song is sung in Spanish and turned out really well. It shows how Arianna is a very versatile and technical vocalist. The song is furious and melodic like all the others recorded in this great work. Let’s be clear: Nightbound is not melodic heavy metal! This is heavy metal in your veins! The band knows how to mix more melodic influences with the roots of traditional metal and the weight of dirty, visceral 70s rock ‘n’ roll, with wonderful vocals and refined technique, without resorting to masturbation or cheap exhibitionism.
This album is a sample of love for the bombastic spirit of heavy metal from the 70s and early 80s. This is music for those who know what Heavy Rock is!
