GORENCEPHALIC – Gore of the Forgotten (EP 2025)

Bahia, sempre Bahia. Terra escaldante e sem salvação, mas que quando o assunto é metal da morte, o solo se abre, o fogo do inferno irrompe e o enxofre toma conta do ambiente. Brutalidade, blasfêmia, podridão. Eis os adjetivos que qualificam as bandas extremas dessa terra de ímpios e malditos músicos extremos.

O GORENCEPHALIC foi formado em 2023 e após dois singles lançados lança o seu primeiro EP intitulado “Gore of the Forgotten”, uma demonstração de pouco mais de 15 minutos de duração onde mostram um death metal cheio de personalidade, com brutalidade de sobra e um odor nauseabundo do mais puro splatter death metal em sua essência musical.

São apenas cinco músicas que servem como um excelente cartão de visitas para apresentar esses caras ao mundo da brutalidade musical. “Human Waste Colony” abre os trabalhos e tem uma sonoridade que mistura bem o death metal americano com alguma coisa do death metal europeu. Pude perceber alguma influência de Sinister e Cannibal Corpse no feeling apresentado. É um som feito com qualidade e muito bem construído.

“Asylum” é mais ríspida e visceral. Até as guitarras soam mais intensas. Composição pesadíssima. Na mesma linha vem “Metrazol Convulsions”. Há momentos mais cadenciados e outros mais rápidos, mas o que me chamou a atenção foram as guitarras e seus riffs mais cheios de feeling, uma melodia pegajosa e que soam matadoras. Uma das grandes músicas do álbum.

Outra grande faixa é “ECT”, que aposta em mais peso, com bases de guitarra mais “travadas”. É legal poder ouvir o baixo estalando, ou seja, sendo tocado e se destacando, algo que nem sempre acontece. A música quando se torna rápida cresce em qualidade e mostra uma veia mais old school.

A última música do EP é “Post-Mortem Analysis”, que acelera mais uma vez e tem um riff principal cortante. Essa versão em CD traz ainda duas faixas bônus: “Procedure”, uma música mais seca e direta, sem meias palavras. Death metal bruto. A segunda faixa bônus é uma versão ao vivo de “Agony Yells”, que me deixou bastante impressionado pois soa ainda mais pesada e brutal do que a banda é no estúdio. Essa música tem um feeling do metal extremo baiano que é inegável. O riff principal me lembrou vagamente o Headhunter DC. Essa faixa mostra que a banda soa muito sólida ao vivo também.

O GORENCEPHALIC tem aqui uma mostra irrefutável da qualidade e brutalidade da sua música e que tem um futuro muito interessante pela frente. Que venha o debut álbum !

Bahia, always Bahia. A scorching land without salvation, but when it comes to death metal, the ground opens up, the fires of hell erupt, and sulfur takes over the environment. Brutality, blasphemy, rot. These are the adjectives that describe the extreme bands from this land of wicked and damned extreme musicians.

GORENCEPHALIC was formed in 2023 and after two singles released, they release their first EP entitled “Gore of the Forgotten”, a demonstration of just over 15 minutes in length where they show death metal full of personality, with brutality to spare and a nauseating odor of the purest splatter death metal in its musical essence.

There are only five songs, which serve as an excellent calling card to introduce these guys to the world of musical brutality. “Human Waste Colony” opens the album and has a sound that mixes American death metal with something from European death metal. I could perceive some influence from Sinister and Cannibal Corpse in the feeling presented. It is a sound made with quality and very well constructed.

“Asylum” is more harsh and visceral. Even the guitars sound more intense. A very heavy composition. Along the same lines comes “Metrazol Convulsions”. There are more rhythmic moments and others that are faster, but what caught my attention were the guitars and their riffs full of feeling, a catchy melody that sounds killer. One of the great songs on the album.

Another great track is “ECT”, which goes for more weight, with more “locked” guitar bases. It’s cool to hear the bass popping, that is, being played and standing out, something that doesn’t always happen. When the song speeds up, it grows in quality and shows a more old school vibe.

The last song on the EP is “Post-Mortem Analysis,” which speeds up once again and has a cutting main riff. This CD version also features two bonus tracks: “Procedure”, a more dry and direct song, without mincing words. Raw death metal. The second bonus track is a live version of “Agony Yells”, which impressed me a lot because it sounds even heavier and more brutal than the band is in the studio. This song has an undeniable Bahian extreme metal feel. The main riff vaguely reminded me of Headhunter DC. This track shows that the band sounds very solid live as well.

GORENCEPHALIC has here an irrefutable display of the quality and brutality of their music and that they have a very interesting future ahead of them. Bring on the debut album!
