MIDNIGHT VICE – Midnight Vice (EP 2025)

Quando falamos de Tampa, Flórida, sempre vem à mente aquele cenário death metal que passou por cima do mundo inteiro como um bulldozer e não deixou muita coisa em pé. Mas o MIDNIGHT VICE é aquela banda que vem e te surpreende e posso afirmar, de forma bem positiva.

O negócio dos caras é o NWOBHM e algo de speed/power metal em sua música. É aquela sonoridade que você vai encontrar nas origens do estilo quando chefões como Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon, Motörhead entre outras mandam nesse território todo.

Em termos musicais esse quarteto fez o seu dever de casa com afinco e entendeu direitinho como criar um heavy metal tradicional com qualidade. Riffs marcantes, bateria que vai marcando e ditando o ritmo, refrões que grudam e um grande vocal. Tyler Gray é um grande vocalista com toda a certeza e outro membro que deve ser destacado é o guitarrista Sam Bean, que comanda com maestria as seis cordas no MIDNIGHT VICE. Tanto as bases de guitarra quanto os solos são realmente intensos.

Além da óbvia influência da NWOBHM é possível perceber que esses caras beberam da fonte do hard rock norte-americano. Basta ouvir a faixa “Excalibur”, que tem aquela pegada da Sunset Street dos anos 80. Grande solos de guitarra aqui.

Eu sou um grande fã de riffs e bases de guitarra que façam você saber na hora que aquilo é metal de verdade e o início de “Mysteria” é assim. Música mais hard rock, mas pesadíssima. Se você busca algo mais intenso “Deliverance of Steel” é essa música. De certo modo carrega uma energia que te faz lembrar um pouco do thrash metal do início do Megadeth. Uma música muito boa.

Finalmente temos a música que vai soar como um soco ao vivo. “White Witch” tem cara de show e deve soar muito boa no palco. Outra faixa que possui um solo de guitarra muito bom. O MIDNIGHT VICE não é uma banda original, mas tem qualidade, excelentes músicos e energia de sobra para construir sua carreira e mostrar que não apenas mais uma no circuito do heavy metal mundial.

When we talk about Tampa, Florida, we always think of that death metal scene that went over the whole world like a bulldozer and didn’t leave much standing. But MIDNIGHT VICE is that band that comes along and surprises you, and I can tell you, in a very positive way.

Their thing is NWOBHM and something of speed/power metal in their music. It’s that sound you’ll find in the origins of the style when bosses like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon, Motörhead and others ruled the roost.

In musical terms, this quartet has done its homework and understood how to create traditional heavy metal with quality. Striking riffs, pounding drums, catchy choruses and great vocals. Tyler Gray is certainly a great vocalist and another member who should be highlighted is guitarist Sam Bean, who masterfully commands the six strings in MIDNIGHT VICE. Both the guitar bases and the solos are really intense.

In addition to the obvious NWOBHM influence, you can see that these guys have drunk from the wellspring of American hard rock. Just listen to the track “Excalibur”, which has that 80s Sunset Street feel. Great guitar solos here.

I’m a big fan of riffs and guitar bases that let you know right away that it’s real metal and the beginning of “Mysteria” is just like that. More hard rock music, but very heavy. If you’re looking for something more intense, “Deliverance of Steel” is the song. In a way it carries an energy that reminds you a bit of early Megadeth thrash metal. A very good song.

Finally we have the song that will pack a punch live. “White Witch” has a concert feel and should sound great on stage. Another track with a very good guitar solo. MIDNIGHT VICE are not an original band, but they have quality, excellent musicians and plenty of energy to build their career and show that they are not just another act on the world heavy metal circuit.
