CRYFEMAL – Puro Carbon (MCD 2025)

Os veteranos do black metal espanhol CRYFEMAL retornaram com esse novo mini álbum intitulado “Puro Carbon” e mostram que o seu som continua intacto em sua proposta de soar maléfico, sujo, impiedoso e o menos melódico possível. Tem muito daquele black metal mais ríspido e frio que era uma marca muito presente nas bandas europeias dos anos 90.

Nesse quesito a banda acerta em cada uma das composições que compõem “Puro Carbon”, mas esse também acaba sendo o seu ponto fraco em relação ao resultado final do trabalho. A banda soa exatamente da forma descrita e não desvia um milímetro desse caminho, mas isso se torna cansativo à medida em que você vai deixando as músicas serem tocadas.

A violência ríspida se repete música após música e quase nunca traz mudanças que surpreendam o ouvinte. Se você busca algo absolutamente selvagem, isso definitivamente vai te agradar. Mas se você quer que a banda ofereça algo a mais, então não temos aqui um álbum que irá agradar a todos.

Não que ele seja ruim. Longe disso. Eu realmente adoro bandas e músicas viscerais, mas essa sofrem de um problema grave que se apresenta a longo prazo. Poucas são as bandas com essas características que ficam na memória coletiva. Já ouvi trabalhos mais interessantes criados pelo CRYFEMAL e esse é apenas um bom álbum.

Destacaria faixas como “La Muerte Masturbada” que tem riffs matadores e uma atmosfera gélida que me lembra o black metal norueguês dos anos 90. É uma música realmente poderosa. As outras músicas soam muito repetitivas e vão se apresentando dessa forma.

Gostei muito da capa do álbum que traz aquela atmosfera agressiva dos velhos tempos do black metal, mas em termos musicais esperava mais desse trabalho do CRYFEMAL. Mas dentro do que a banda pretendia e é mostrado no material promocional da gravadora, a banda “se mantém explorando as profundezas vastas de sua necro atitude com um objetivo claro, entregar sons devastadores sem nenhum remorso ou compreensão. Puro black metal dos anos 90… no fancy hipster bullshit here”… Isso é entregue em cada camada do “Puro Carbon”.

The Spanish black metal veterans CRYFEMAL have returned with this new mini album entitled “Puro Carbon” and show that their sound remains intact in its proposal to sound evil, dirty, merciless and as unmelodic as possible. There’s a lot of that harsher, colder black metal that was a hallmark of European bands in the 90s.

In this respect, the band gets it right in each of the compositions that make up “Puro Carbon”, but this also ends up being their weak point in relation to the final result of the work. The band sounds exactly as described and doesn’t deviate a millimeter from this path, but this becomes tiresome as you let the songs play out.

The harsh violence is repeated song after song and hardly ever brings any changes that surprise the listener. If you’re looking for something absolutely savage, this will definitely please you. But if you want the band to offer something more, then this is not an album that will please everyone.

Not that it’s bad. Far from it. I really love visceral bands and music, but this one suffers from a serious problem that presents itself over the long term. Few bands with these characteristics stick in the collective memory. I’ve heard more interesting work from CRYFEMAL and this is just a good album.

I’d highlight tracks like “La Muerte Masturbada”, which has killer riffs and an icy atmosphere that reminds me of Norwegian black metal from the 90s. It’s a really powerful song. The other songs sound very repetitive, and it’s like that.

I really liked the album cover, which brings that aggressive atmosphere of the old days of black metal, but in musical terms I expected more from CRYFEMAL. But within what the band intended and is shown in the label’s promotional material, the band “keeps exploring the vast depths of their necro attitude with a clear goal, delivering devastating sounds without any remorse or comprehension. Pure 90s black metal… no fancy hipster bullshit here…” This is delivered in every layer of “Pure Carbon”.
